{Ciara}"The Latina Sensation" Mercedes Martinez arguably had the best year in her career in 2011, having a record breaking seventy-three minute long match in August, the longest in women's wrestling, being ranked number two on PWI Female 50 in 2011 to defeating every challenger in her path to retain her WSU Championship. The former three year reigning WSU Champion, Mercedes Martinez racked up the appearances in many independent wrestling promotions over her twelve years in the business, Full Impact Pro, ROH, WSU, WXW, WEW, SHIMMER, IWA Mid-South, NECW and recently made her debut in Japan for STARDOM. Mercedes Martinez has been breaking records since June 6, 2009, when she and Angel Orsini broke the record going seventy minutes in a sixty minute Iron Man match. Recently Mercedes has engaged in a violent feud with Jessicka Havok that has left a shocking moment etched in WSU fans mind forever when WSU Spirit Champion Jessicka Havok threatened to stab an unconscious Mercedes Martinez with a machete forcing handcuffed Brittney Savage and Alicia to yell out "I quit."  Mercedes suffered a concusion that left out of action for a while. Mercedes has proven that push come to shove she will go all the way in ring even with her pride on the line.

Trained by Jason Knight at the Power Station in October 2000, Mercedes Martinez made her wrestling debut on November 12, 2000 defeating a male wrestler named Juice. She gained exposure under promoter Sheldon Goldberg, forming a women's division in New England Championship Wrestling(NECW) around Mercedes bringing in Yoshimoto Ladies Pro's Sumie Sakai. September 17, 2004, Mercedes defeated Lacey to become the new NWA Midwest/IWA Mid-South Women's Champion on night one of the 2004 Ted Petty Invitational. June 5, 2005, Mercedes won the NECW World Women's Champion after defeating Nikki Roxx in an eight woman tournament becoming the inaugural champion. 

Mercedes joined Afa Anoa'i's World Xtreme Wrestling, defeating Talia Madison for the WXW Women's Championship on July 8, 2005 the title would become vacated on September 3, 2006 after Mercedes Martinez won the WXW Cruiserweight Championship from Drew Blood on Februaray 19, 2006. On November 6, 2005, Mercedes wrestled on the inaugural SHIMMER show taking on Sara Del Rey to a twenty minute time limit draw, both received a standing ovation after the match, Del Rey would defeat Mercedes the following day on volume 2 in a four-way match with Lacey and Daizee Haze. Mercedes has appeared on almost every SHIMMER DVD since 2005, taking on the likes of LuFisto, Sara Del Rey, Wesna Busic, Cheerleader Melissa, Cindy Rogers, Ariel, Amazing Kong, MsChif, Amber O'Neal, Madison Eagles, Serena Deeb, Ayako Hamada, Jamilia Craft, Cat Power, Tomoka Nakagawa, Kellie Skater, Rachel Summerlyn, Athena and pretty much everyone that has came through SHIMMER. 

Mercedes made her ROH debut on March 25, 2006 in a four-way match against Allison Danger, Lacey and Daizee Haze in a SHIMMER sactioned match, Allison Danger won. April 15, 2006, Mercedes competed in the ChickFight IV tournament advancing to the finals to be defeated by MsChif. May 21, 2006, Sara Del Rey defeated Mercedes Martinez in a no time limit singles match on SHIMMER Volume 5, Mercedes and Sara Del Rey would lose to The Minnesota Home-Wrecking Crew on volume 6. Mercedes appeared on the June 12, 2006 episode of WWE Sunday Night Heat losing to Victoria.  At another ROH event on December 22, 2006, Mercedes Martinez and Jimmy Jacobs were defeated by Daizee Haze and B.J Whitmer, Mercedes suffeered an injury during this match.  

Mercedes started teaming with Angel Orsini in 2007 in WSU, the two would soon split and begin a feud that would span throughout 2008 and into 2009. January 6, 2007, Mercedes defeated Cindy Rogers for the WXW Women's Championship making this her second reign, Mercedes would drop the championship due to a shoulder injury, Kacee Carlisle became the new champion and claimed she deafeated Mercedes Martinez in an empty arena match on March 3, 2007. She would leave WXW sometime in 2007 and would not appear for four years. She returned to ROH towards the end of December 2007 aligned with The Vulture Squad, being dubbed the "Booty Vulture," Mercedes would once again part ways with ROH.

After winning WSU's J-Cup tournament on March 22, 2008, Mercedes received her shot at Angel Orsini's WSU Championship on June 21, 2008 in a falls count anywhere match, Orsini retained. Mercedes has had two shots at the SHIMMER Championship first time on July 5, 2008 losing to current champion MsChif, her second shot was on March 26, 2011 in a losing effort against current champion Madison Eagles. Mercedes would receive another shot at the WSU Championship this time in a steel cage match on January 10, 2009, Orsini retained once again. March 7, 2009, Mercedes defeated Angel Orsini in a brutal bullrope match to capture the WSU Championship at WSU's Second Anniversary Show, ending Angel Orsini's nine month reign. Mercedes and Angel Orsini would capture the WSU Tag Team Championship on November 7, 2009 after defeating Hailey Hatred and Jessicka Havok, they would lose the titles to The Cosmo Club(Cindy Rogers and Jana) on April 17, 2010. 

In 2010, Mercedes took part in Wrestlicious portraying the character "Maria Toro", she appeared in the first episode teaming with Bandita and Felony to defeat Cousin Cassie, Tyler Texas and Charlotte. February 6, 2010, Mercedes debut for NCW Femmes Fatales, defeating Portia Perez.  At WSU's Last Chapter on January 22, 2011, Mercedes martinez defeated An gel Orsini in a ladder match to not only retain her WSU Championship but to capture Orsini's WSU All Guts, No Glory Championship, unifying the titles. Mercedes would defend her WSU Championship against the likes of Serena Deeb, Brittney Savage, Nikki Roxx, Portia Perez, Amazing Kong, Mickie James, Alicia, Amber O'Neal, Jazz, Lexxus (Alexxis Nevaeh) Mercedes competed in the 2CW Girls Grand Prix tournament on Febrary 24, 2012, defeating Mia Yim in the quarter final before losing to Sara Del Rey in the semi final. On March 10, 2012, Kalamity retained her NCW Femmes Fatales Championship in the main event of NCW Femmes Fatales VIII show against Mercedes Martinez, 

Mercedes snapped after the match and attacked Kalamity with a chair until LuFisto made the save, the two engaged in a pull apart fist fight to end the show. Mercedes will challenge Jessicka Havok in a rematch for the WSU Championship on April 28, 2012.who she had the longest women's wrestling match that was seventy-three minutes long in August 2011, Mercedes would lose the WSU Championship to Jessicka Havok on March 3, 2012 at WSU's 5th Anniversary Show IPPV, ending Mercedes three year title reign. October 2, 2011, Mercedes turned heel for the first time in her SHIMMER career after Athena took her to her limit on volume 43, resulting in a double count-out, Mercedes attacked Athena afterwards injuring Athena's leg. November 19, 2011 at WSU' Breaking Barriers II IPPV, Mercedes Martinez, Alicia and Brittney Savage (Team WSU) were defeated by the Mid-West Militia(Jessicka Havok, Sassy Stephie and Allysin Kay) in a war games match. Mercedes was suffered a concussion during this match casuing her miss in ring action for a few months.
