Angrymarkette Spotlight: GAMI

{Ciara}With twenty-two years under her belt, GAMI has competed in every joshi puroresu promotion there is. The current booker/ founder of Pro Wrestling WAVE is the oldest active member of the WAVE roster. Before starting Pro Wrestling WAVE in 2007, GAMI had a successful career mostly recognized for work in ARSION, M's Style, LLPW, JWP and many other joshi puroresu promotions across Japan. The character of GAMI has evolved over the years going from the serious, hard hitting, joint snapping, "Dynamite Kansai" type wrestler to the comedic wrestler that wears cut off shirts and boy shorts and carries a megaphone to the ring and hits her opponents and sometimes her tag team partners with it just to get a laugh out of the crowd. Even though GAMI is looked at as comic relief I believe that some people forget her technical ability nor does she seem to get any credit for it. GAMI has been called "Lady of 1,000 Holds" and even considers herself "woman of infinite skill." With Pro Wrestling WAVE gaining more success over the years and GAMI still active in the ring it looks like she has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

Mikiko Futagami debuted into the world of joshi puroresu on November 1, 1990 taking on Ayumi Taki. On June 20, 1996, Yasha Kurenai, Mikiko Futagami and Carol Midori defeated Rumi Kazama, Karula and Shinobu Kandori in a five-team tournament to win the LLPW 6-Woman Tag Team Championship. Mikiko Futagami, Yasha Kuernai and Carol Midori would once again capture the LLPW 6-Woman Tag Team Championship after defeating Eagle Sawai, Michiko Nagashima and Shark Tsuchiya on May 14, 1997. In 1998, Mikiko Futagami was brought in to wrestle for Aja Kong's new joshi puroresu promotion, ARSION. Aja Kong packaged Futagami as the "new" Dyanmite Kansai, citing their similarities in their physique and solid kicks. February 18, 1998, Mikiko Futagami teamed with Candy Okutsu and Rie Tamada to take on the team of Michiko Omukai, Yumi Fukawa and Aja Kong on ARSION's debut show "Virgin."

As time went on ARSION became more storyline driven with Lioness Asuka as the new booker for the promotion. At this time Mikiko Futagami became repackaged as GAMI and began using a comedic wrestling style. This gimmick would continue from that day forward. GAMI would go on to form a "heel" stable with Rie Tamada called ReDRAG. ReDRAG was orignally planned to be a traditional heel stable but with GAMI's new found comedic style, the fans started to take a liking to the duo. On August 20, 2000, GAMI and Rie Tamada captured the Twin Star of ARSION after defeating Mima Shimoda and Michiko Ohmukai. GAMI would capture the championship on three more occasions, holding the record of the most Twin Star of ARSION reigns of all time with four. GAMI would continue to work for ARSION until its closure in 2003.

GAMI and Command Bolshoi captured the JWP Tag Team Championship on September 10, 2001 after defeating the current champions Kayoko Haruyama and Azumi Hyuga, GAMI and Bolshoi would lose the championship to Azumi Hyuga and Ran Yu-Yu on July 20, 2002. At M's Style's first anniversary show "Dream Rule," GAMI lost in the opening round of a tournament to the debuting Ayumi Kurihara. GAMI would defeat Toshie Uematsu at the M's Style show on May 20, 2005. On August 7, 2005, M's Style held an one day tag team tournament. GAMI and Bullfight Sora defeated Mariko Yoshida and Kyoko Kimura in the first round but were eliminated by the team of Leon and noki-A in the second round. At "Goddess of Astoria Hope II" on February 26, 2006, Toshie Uematsu and Ran Yu-Yu defeated GAMI and AKINO. M's Styles announced its closure on August 30, 2006 with their last show being on October 8, 2006. On Ocotber 8, 2006, GAMI defeated Tojyuki Leon at M's Style's "Reincarnation Transmigration."

At Pro Wrestling WAVE's "Happy Birthday Wave 2011" on January 4, 2010, Meiko Satomura defeated GAMI in the main event. After the match GAMI got her face shoved in cake because it was her birthday. In 2010, GAMI won Pro Wrestling WAVE's "Catch the Wave League" tournament. In December 2011, GAMI took part in CHIKARA's three night event "JoshiMania," this would mark GAMI's USA debut. On night one GAMI defeated Sawako Shimono. On night two she teamed with Toshie Uematsu to defeat Cherry and Sawako Shimono. To finish off the weekend event GAMI defeated Portia Perez on night three. GAMI and Tomoka Nakagawa defeated Kana and Mio Shirai at Pro Wrestling WAVE's show on January 4, 2012. In March 2012, GAMI became involved in the ongoing storyline with Mio Shirai and Cherry after Cherry defeated Shirai at UNION Pro show on March 18, 2012. The stipulation for the match was if Cherry lost she would have reveal her real age, if she won her age remains a secret. GAMI stole Cherry's passport after the match and claims to have given it to some Executive Director or its been lost. GAMI says the only way that Cherry will get back her passport is if she beats her in match.  GAMI challenges CHerry to a match at the next UNION Pro with the same stipulation that if Cherry won her age remains a secret, if she lost she would have to reveal it. At Union Pro on April 8, 2012, Cherry defeated GAMI, Cherry's age still remains a secret.
