Better late than never! I've got Ring of Honor on my TV and it seems to be progressing directly from after the events of Final Battle 2013, including THE RETURN OF CHRIS HERO. My recap is in progress albeit a little late since it started at 10 PM ET/9 CT and up until now I was watching the Colts game (which I'm afraid may now be a lost cause).

We are live from Nashville, Tennessee with Prince Nana, Steve Corino and Kevin Kelly at the commentary booth. They tease that AJ Styles will be returning in three weeks.

* Top Prospects Tournament: Raymond Rowe vs. Kongo

Kongo is billed as being "from South America" but I'm not buying it. He's also listed as 5'11" and 253 pounds - I think he's probably a little heavier than that. Rowe looks like an athlete, and Kongo reminds me of Terex from Championship Wrestling. They start out trading chops with each other. Kevin Kelly reminds us the finals of this tournament will be in Pittsburgh on January 25th as we get a ticker update on all of the live ROH events coming up. I've got to say that I'm liking the quality of the ROH broadcast on network TV - it's actually comparable to when they were on HDNet. I don't notice any signal degradation or uprezzing. Rowe gives Kongo a German suplex for a near fall. Flying knees for another near fall as Nana tries his best to put over Kongo, and Corino says he has no idea where Nana found him.

Kongo knocks Rowe down and for the moment he has the upper hand, so he hits a running butt splash to the corner to lay him out. Kongo slowly teases going to the second rope to finish him off, but Rowe rolls out of the way and does a full nelson with a knee to the back of the head to finish Kongo off (as I expected all along). WINNER: RAYMOND ROWE. That finisher needs a name. May I suggest - ROWE CALL? It's a good Ring of Honor pun. Michael Elgin comes to the ring and apparently he wants a piece of Kongo too. Elgin gives him a spinning backfist and then throws him down in dismissal as we go to commercial.

Elgin: "What you just saw is only a sign of things to come. When you stand in this ring, you stand in my ring. Final Battle, was supposed to be the night, Michael Elgin became Ring of Honor World Champion. Adam Cole, just because you left New York with that belt, doesn't mean that it's over. The way that you talk it makes me think you're forgetting exactly what I did in 2013. You're forgetting Michael Elgin has the best win/loss record in 2013. The way you talk Cole, makes me think, that you think Michael Elgin is a thing of the past. You think I'm behind you. Well if you think that you better grow eyes in the back of your head. What Michael Elgin wants, he takes." LOVING IT. He tells Cole to ignore AJ Styles, Chris Hero and Jay Briscoe because they're just three men standing in his way.

CHRIS HERO INTERRUPTS. He says he's as happy to be there as the fans are happy to see him. "It's been a long time and since then Elgin you've become the man. You and I have the same goal - ROH World Championship. But in Pittsburgh, we have to coincide, can't ruffle each other's feathers. But after that, it's every man for himself." That's not all though as KEVIN STEEN IS ON HIS WAY TO THE RING. Steen reminds both men that he hasn't had a rematch for the title he lost. He admits Elgin had an incredible year and does incredible things, but Steen says he gets a shot first before him, and especially before Hero (who hasn't been here in two years). "When I'm done with you, the only thing you'll be able to say, is Kevin Steen just kicked my ass oh noooo!" HERO VS. STEEN MAIN EVENT TONIGHT. Commercial!

When we come back we're told that #TopProspect 'The Benchmark' Bill Daly is withdrawing from the tournament due to a high ankle sprain so COREY HOLLIS WINS. Mike Posey says he doesn't believe Cory wants to win like that, and that he's a man of "Honor," so he should prove it and have a match with him right now. HOLLIS ACCEPTS & WE HAVE A MATCH.

* Top Prospect Tournament: Corey Hollis vs. Mike Posey

I presume this is the same 'Dropkick' Mike Posey I remember from TNA (Impact Wrestling) but I haven't seen him in a few years. ROH is coming to San Antonio on February 8th according to the ticket - I hope that Ed in San Antonio will be there. They're also coming to Chicago Ridge, Illinois on March 8th - hopefully I will be there. Kelly reminds us that Raymond Rowe advanced earlier in case anybody tuned in late. Hollis gets a babyface comeback after having his arm worked over for most of the match and gets a near fall. He goes for a fireman's carry and gets blocked then countered to a near fall. They trade chops and forearms. The announcers points out that Hollis is only 19. I swear the older I get the younger wrestlers get. Corino complains he never gets a format sheet. Posey hits a top rope legdrop for two. SPINNING ELBOW BY COREY HOLLIS FOR THREE. Commercial.

So far Raymond Rowe and Corey Hollis have advanced as #TopProspects. Time for another match!!

* Singles Match: Caprice Coleman vs. Jay Lethal

Streamers fly out as Lethal hits the ring. Coleman is billed as having ten pounds on Lethal (228 to 218) on the Tale of the Tape. There's no love lost between the two as this match starts as they trade chops, arm wringers, go behinds and finally Lethal hits a reverse elbow and a suicide dive to the floor to wipe Coleman out. Corino: "I don't think that's the way Coleman wanted to start a singles career!" Undoubtedly not. Lethal with an arm drag and a drop kick to the face for 2. Have you ever thought about the fact a kick to the face is a near fall? If somebody KICKED ME IN THE FACE I'd probably be like (1.) WTF?! and (2.) Where's the nearest hospital?! Coleman gets a comeback and a near fall.

Lethal tries to charge the corner and Coleman gets the boot up, then hits a leg drop for a near fall. Corino says he's happy to be at commentary and not in the ring taking it. Lethal gets the knees up as Coleman tries to come off the ropes and both men are down. Corino: "I like seeing Jay Lethal hurt!" Kelly reminds us AJ Styles will return in 3 weeks. That fact ALONE makes me glad I have Ring of Honor on my TV. Coleman hits the Northern Lights suplex three times for a near fall. Lethal hits Coleman with a Lethal Combination after Coleman misses a move to the corner. Coleman responds by taking Lethal off the ropes with a 'rana and hitting a STO for 2. Corino says he screwed up by not hooking the leg. They trade punches and body shots and we get a HADOUKEN which makes the crowd laugh. LETHAL INJECTION FOR THREE ENDS IT AND JAY LETHAL WINS THE MATCH.

Afterward Jay Lethal apologizes to Caprice Coleman and says he underestimated him and nearly lost the match because of it. "One more thing - the brand new television champion Tommaso Ciampa has issued a challenge to me. Tommaso - I guess you feel like we have a little unfinished business since you got hurt the last time we wrestled. As far as your challenge goes though - any time, anywhere, I accept! In fact I'll be out here next week in your match with Silas Young doing commentary from the front row and my advice on that is.... good luck!" Commercial.

* ROH on Sinclair Main Event: Chris Hero vs. Kevin Steen

Tale of the Tape tells us that Hero has only been a pro wrestler two years longer than Steen. I'm sure that's true but I feel like I've known Hero a lot longer than that. They exchange a handshake and the crowd is chanting THIS IS AWESOME before the match even begins. They trade holds until Steen gets a rope break and Hero backs away clean. Kevin Kelly teases that Chris Hero may have a loaded elbow pad. Corino says he can't believe the disrespect Hero showed at Final Battle and believes he should be suspended right now. They have another "respect" moment and start again from scratch. Side headlock but Steen refuses to be taken over. Steen hits the shoulder block and Hero doesn't go down. Hero hits one of his own. The two have a face off as the crowd chant. STEEN DROPKICK KNOCKS HERO DOWN. Hero gets up slow but leapfrogs ducks down and kicks Steen in the head before a Hero senton gets a near fall to send us to commercial!

This is the best hour of wrestling I've seen on TV all week, bar none. Steen sends Hero flying to the outside and does a mock bow/curtsey to the people watching at ringside. Hero is thrown in and Steen slingshots himself in for a near fall as DUELING CHANTS BREAK OUT. I feel like I'm back at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in Reseda for #MattRushmore. I kinda wish WWE has released Hero from NXT sooner so I could have seen him there live. Hero knocks Steen down with a kick and gets up cocky, then charges Steen in the corner, and knocks him down with another kick for 2. Corino: "That was really close!" Steen sells being winded and woozy as Hero pulls him up by the neck, but Steen counters to a near fall and goes top rope for a big flip that only gets a near fall. HERO GETS UP ROARING. Hero gets a near fall. Corino says he had the worst match of his career here at the Nashville Fairgrounds for USWA back in 1997. ROARING ELBOW AND SPINNING KICK BY HERO but STEEN KICKS OUT OF IT. We get a JACOBS AND WHITMER RUN IN and Steen takes advantage with a SLEEPER SUPLEX FOR THREE. Steen wouldn't have done it without The Decade's help. Kelly is sure to point that out. Whitmer is laughing that Hero kicked him in the face. Corino says he just proved he's "a no good piece of garbage." One more tease for AJ Styles returning in three weeks as the show goes off the air... oh wait... CLIFF COMPTON IS IN THE CROWD AND JUST REACHED OUT TO CHOKE KEVIN STEEN AS WE END!!
