This week's SmackDown Live is the fourth SmackDown after Extreme Rules on July 14, 2019! Enjoy Ian's recap of the latest show.

Smackdown opens with Charlotte.

"Every time the queen steps foot in this ring, you all are witnessing greatness! Most of us dream of greatness. We strive for it. But most of us don't have the talent, genetics, or discipline to achieve it. So most of you give up or lie to yourselves, and go do something else. Just like my opponent at Summerslam, the Hall of Famer, the 7-time Women's Champion, who, just when the industry started to change, decided she'd go do something else, a family and a minivan. And so, at the height of the Women's Revolution, you think she came back just for one more match? No, she was jealous of everything I am. The athletes of today are far superior to those of yesteryear. She was jealous, so she wanted to make that big comeback, have that big moment in her home country of Canada. But you will never be me. Let's look at some highlights of my career."

The video package is hijacked by a video package for Trish Stratus.

Trish comes out. "Not what you expected, huh? The queen is used to getting what she wants."

"I thought I saw your minivan in the staff parking lot."

"That's cute. Cute. The reason I played that video is to remind you of why you're even here. And why you've been given these history-making opportunities. You're right. I have been dreaming of one more match. You're right. It's been eating at me. Because you are the embodiment of everything I fought for. So yeah, I want one more match. And maybe it's to prove it to my kids, or to these fans. But also it's to prove it to me. To quote the great Harley Race, there is no greater feeling in the world than to be under these bright lights, and I want that, I need that. So Charlotte, you may be the queen, but in the end, you're not me."

"Welcome to your nightmare, Trish. Because this Sunday, I'm going to make you bow down to the queen. Woo!"

Trish slaps Charlotte.

Match One: Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio

Dolph Ziggler does Goldberg's entrance, down to the music and 'Tron. If this is his new gimmick, give me a box of 12.

Ziggler attacks Rey before the bell, superkick on the floor. Trainers and refs pull him off, and he hits another superkick.

Dolph: "Oh, another legend goes down courtesy of DZ. All you legends can keep crawling back here, and the result will still be the same. Goldberg wants to fight me at Summerslam. Goldberg says I'm next! Guess what, I'm doing what I do best on Sunday: ending careers! I'm not next, Goldberg, this match is your last!"

Match Never Started

Ali runs out and attacks Ziggler. Suicide dive, commercial.

Actual Match One: Dolph Ziggler vs. Ali

Match begins during a commercial. Back on air, back and forth, Ali with a satellite facebuster for two, Dolph with a punch, clothesline, superkick, reversed into a rollup for two, Ziggler with a headbutt, superkick for three.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

In a backstage sit-down interview, Roman Reigns says that he's in a new situation because he's always known who was attacking him. He says that WWE offered him personal security. He's asked who he thinks is responsible, and he says he knows it isn't Samoa Joe, who he then apologizes to publicly. He says the attacker is still out there, and vows to get answers tonight.

Match Two: Challenger vs. Challenger: Natalya vs. Ember Moon

Nattie wrenches an arm, Ember rolls through, arm drag, Nattie with a boot, punches in the corner, whip, back body drop, Ember lands on her ass, superkick, kneeling STO, goes up top, Nattie rolls to the apron, Ember with a boot, another, misses a diving clothesline, dropkicks Natalya into the barricade, rolls her into the ring, reversed into a toss into the apron, Nattie follows up with a clothesline on the floor, Sharpshooter until the ref counts them both out.

Match Result: Double Countout

Nattie keeps the hold locked in until Bayley runs in and slowly pulls Nattie off. Nattie responds by shoving Bayley and storming off.

Kevin Owens hits the ring after a commercial for the KO Show. "Cut the music, just cut it. You know, this isn't any normal Kevin Owens Show, you know that, so Shane McMahon, let's just cut to the chase. Get out here and let's get this over with, come on. (no Shane) We know you love to make a big, dramatic entrance, but we have better things to do, so get your ass out here now."

Shane comes out. He makes Greg Hamilton do his thing, but KO cuts him off.

KO: "Alright, we don't have time for this crap tonight. We've heard it before. Shane, I asked you out here for a very specific reason. When I made the challenge and put my career on the line, I've been asked a very specific question: why isn't Shane's career on the line? And it's a very simple answer: it's your last name. You can do whatever you want, you can say whatever you want. But people have been relentless, so I'm changing my mind. I want to appeal to your sense of honour, or maybe just that huge, disgusting ego. The McMahon family are always saying they do what's best for business, so why don't you put your career on the line too? You beat me, and I'm gone. But I beat you, and everyone gets what they want, because you are done!"

"Let me ponder that for a second. That would be an emphatic no. Kev, you talk about my ego being out of control, your ego got you in trouble in the first place. Your ego made you put your career on the line, and after Sunday, you are gone. Let me remind you all the ways that can happen, and there's no shame in losing to the best in the world, but let me lay them all out for you: I could do it the old-fashioned way and pin you 1-2-3, and you are gone. Or I could slap on one of the most devastating submission moves in WWE, the triangle choke, you tap out, and you are gone. You're on the floor, you slip on a soda, get a hangnail, whatever, and you don't make the 10 count, and you are gone. I push you too far, because I'm in your head, and you hit me with something or do something to get yourself disqualified, and you are gone."

"So the point of this whole painful diatribe is that you're not going to do it."

"I'm much smarter than you."

"That surprises me. Not that you're smart, but that, after all these death-defying stunts, it turns out you have no balls."

"I have those and brains. Let's give these people a preview of what could happen on Sunday."

KO strips the ring of the set while he and Shane circle each other. Elias attacks, Shane and Elias start beating KO down, KO rebounds, tosses Shane across the announce table, Elias attacks him on the announce table, KO hits a Stunner to Elias atop the table, Shane attacks Owens and pummels him. Shane then overturns the announce table on Owens, and starts punching him again. He lays a chair across his face and hits a baseball slide. Then he gets in his face and starts slapping him. He starts yelling at him again as the referees beg him to stop.

After a commercial, Sami Zayn comes out. "You know, last week I came to Smackdown and I offered Aleister Black a gift! I offered him help, I offered him a service: a match at Summerslam where I would beat him and expose him, and free him from all this hype that is surrounding him, that he knows he can't live up to! So how does he respond? Silence! Silence! Instead of answering my challenge, he locks himself in a room and stays safe in silence, so all of you can talk about how dark and mysterious he is. Mr. 'Pick a fight with me' doesn't want a fight with me, because he knows he can't live up to the hype."

Aleister Black comes out. "Oh, but Sami, this match is not happening at Summerslam. This match happens now."

Match Three: Aleister Black vs. Sami Zayn

Sami with a kick to the gut, side headlock, Black with a punch, kick to the chest, feigns a suicide dive, commercial.

Back on air, Sami kicks Black in the back, mounted punches, punch, chop, trading punches, Sami gets the better of it, whip, clothesline for two, another cover for two, knee choke, break, Black with kicks, knees, Sami with a kick for two, mounted punches, chinlock, Black powers out, kick, punches, Sami with a whip, Black with a forearm, kicks, running knee, running knee lift, Black Mass for three.

Winner: Aleister Black

Shelton Benjamin is asked if he would consider competing for the 24/7 Championship. He responds, "Well", and walks off.

In a surprise Firefly Fun House, Huskert is gorging himself on candy. Bray comes in and says that Finn Balor isn't afraid of anything, but his courage is really just ignorance in disguise, just like Huskert's gluttony is really just insecurity. He points out that that's the only reason Finn could have invited The Fiend. He says that they've hurt for so long, and now it's Finn Balor's turn to hurt.

Backstage, Chad Gable is stretching with bands. Elias says that he's too close to his guitar, then calls Gable a child.

Kofi Kingston says that Randy Orton is wrong when he says Kofi got there because of him, rather he got there in spite of him. He talks about coming so close to breaking out in 2009, then accuses him of wanting to humiliate him, not just beat him. He says he would go home every single day after that and wonder what he was doing wrong. He says he stayed positive, and now he wants to be an inspiration. He says he uses his influence to help people up, while Orton uses his influence to hold people down. He says Orton will be the stupid one when Kofi retains at Summerslam.

Main Event: Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. Daniel Bryan and Rowan (non-title)

Bryan hits a running knee to Woods to start off, whip, Woods ducks, hurricanrana, dropkick, suicide dive, commercial.

Winners by DQ: New Day

Rowan continues attacking both members with stairs, Bryan grabs Woods' arms and stomps his head, Rowan with an Iron Claw to Big E, Rowan holds Woods for Bryan to hit a running knee.

Backstage, Roman walks into the locker room and asks everyone but Buddy Murphy to leave. He says he saw that Buddy was in the footage of the forklift, and that means either he did it, or he knows who did it. Buddy says he doesn't know who did it. Roman says he's going to ask him again, and if he doesn't tell him, it's not going to end well. Buddy says he doesn't know who did it, but if he did, he wouldn't tell. Roman punches Buddy, then tosses him around the locker room, before holding him against the wall. Buddy says Rowan did it. Roman asks if he means Daniel Bryan and Rowan, and Buddy responds that he just saw Rowan. Smackdown goes off the air with Bryan and Rowan reacting in the ring.
