This week's SmackDown Live is the first SmackDown after SummerSlam on Aug. 11, 2019! Enjoy Ian's recap of the latest show.

Smackdown opens with KO. "You know, yesterday marked the five year anniversary of the day I signed my WWE contract. And over those 5 years, I've created memories I'll never forget, I've experienced things I never thought I'd experience, I stood in this ring with people I never thought I'd stand in the ring with. I've shared this ring with the best of the best in this industry. Last night, I stood in the ring with someone who calls himself the best in the world, and while I can assure you that is not the case, last night will go down in history as one of the greatest nights of my life. Not only because my family were in the front row. They got to see a sold-out arena coming unglued for me. People hungry to see me kick Shane's ass, and that's what I did! In fact, his ass wasn't the only thing I kicked. But the greatest feeling was hitting Shane with a Stunner. That was something else. But speaking of something else, I'm turning my attention to something else, and that is the King of the Ring Tournament. I've been a WWE fan my whole life, and King of the Ring was one of the things I looked forward to most, and I'm so honoured to be a participant this year. It would mean just as much to me as any championship I've held, because look at that list of Hall of Famers who have won! Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Edge, Bret Hard, Owen Hart, and I can add my name to that--"

Shane McMahon comes out.

KO: "Why? Why? Why?"

Shane: "This is a nice little moment for you, Kevin, isn't it? Celebrating your tainted victory over me, announcing your plans for the King of the Ring Tournament. Well I'm out here for several reasons, one to remind these people, I'm going to show some footage that proves my point of what a low-life he is, roll it. (footage of Owens hoofing Shane-o-Mac in the grapefruits) Is that what you call competition, Kevin? We're supposed to be going toe to toe and you pull something like that? Is that what you call being a man?"

"I'm not going to be lectured on being a man by someone who used to be part of something called the Mean Street Posse. Being a man means doing what it takes to win, especially when your job is on the line. Being a man means standing up for what you believe in, and in this case, it means shutting your mouth."

"You will always be known as a cheater, and you'll have to live with that. I shouldn't even be looking at you, you should be in the unemployment line outside. It just makes me want to beat the crap out of you."

"Well I do have my fighting boots on."

"I'm not going to soil my hands tonight, but you will be in action."

"Who is it? Bring it on."

"But the other thing is that I want to put some attention on what you did to poor Elias. Let's see it. (KO attacking Elias with a chair) I mean, seriously? Elias was so traumatized that I gave him the night off and the 24/7 Championship is suspended for the night. But Kevin, use your eyesight. You were looking at him with malice. But what was he wearing? Oh right, an official WWE referee's jersey. He was an official. And we have to protect our officials, you know this. You can never, ever attack an official. So this is part of my management job, what do I have to do to make sure everyone is safe, especially our officials? I'm going to have to lay some very heavy things on you. In American dollars, you will be fined $100,000."

"What? That may be nothing to you, but to me, that's my family's future, it's a down payment. If you are the man you say you are, you'll reconsider this, because you know it's crap."

"Nope."

After a commercial, KO confronts Shane in his office, who reminds him that he's not acting as a competitor right now, and could sue Owens if he hits him. Owens says they should make the fine $105,000 and destroys a TV with a stool.

Despite Buddy Murphy falsely accusing Rowan, and by association, falsely accusing me, we had nothing to do with it, because Buddy Murphy is a liar! But I don't blame Buddy Murphy. Because any of you, any single one of you, you would all lie, you would all cave if Roman Reigns had your head against a wall, you would all lie, you would all cave! I do not blame Buddy Murphy! He had to give a name. The only problem is he chose the wrong name. You all think that I did it? You all think that Rowan and I did it? You see, you see, you see, that's what's wrong with all of you, and that's what's wrong with society. Somebody tells a lie, it gets spread on social media, and then suddenly it becomes the truth! Well I hate to disappoint you, but Rowan and I had nothing to do with these incidents, and tonight, we are going to prove it."

Backstage, Not-Renee asks Shane if he's chosen KO's opponent. Shane says he has, then mentions the carnage. Samoa Joe walks in and offers his services. Shane names Joe as Owens' opponent.

Winner: Buddy Murphy

And that, if you follow it up properly, is an excellent way to build someone up with a loss.

Backstage, Kayla asks The Revival about last night. They respond that chasing the 24/7 Championship was beneath them, and they got momentarily caught up in it. They blame The New Day for making the tag division a mockery, and note that New Day have never beaten them.

After a commercial, Kayla asks New Day for a response. They reminisce on things they've ruined, but tag team wrestling isn't one of them. Kayla asks Kofi why he attacked Randy with a kendo stick. He says that Randy looked over at his family, and given his track record, Kofi felt he was justified in acting proactively.

Match Three: Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Owens

Winner: Samoa Joe

Backstage, Rowan and Bryan tell everyone except Buddy Murphy to leave the locker room. They sit him down and tell him they know why he lied, but they need him to admit that he lied. Bryan keeps screaming at him to say that he lied, but he won't budge. Rowan attacks Buddy, then tosses him across a table, into a trash can, chokes him against a white board, Bryan keeps yelling at him to tell the world that he lied, and Buddy says, "Okay." Bryan says he needs to say it more clearly, and Buddy starts screaming, "I lied!" over and over again. Rowan tosses him across a garbage can.

After a commercial, Roman asks a production guy where Bryan and Rowan's dressing room is.

New Day come out for their tag match. Before The Revival do, Randy Orton comes out.

"How is it that you can come out here and cheerlead on the sidelines with your boys when you ran away from a fight at Summerslam? Now I know why you ran away from a fight at Summerslam, but do these people know why? You ran away because you know you can't beat me, you're not ready. You ran away in front of your wife, and some day your kids are going to ask you why you took the easy way out. Why you ran away from that big, scary man, and you're going to tell them the truth: that you can't beat Randy Orton. But, I will give you one more opportunity to prove me wrong. Instead of cheerleading on the sidelines while E and Woods do their thing, you and me join in and we have a six-man tag match?"

Roman confronts Bryan and Rowan backstage, who demand he apologize like he did to Joe. Roman starts prepping for a fight, before Bryan says they've conducted their own investigation, and they'll reveal the culprit next week.
