This week's SmackDown Live is the fifth SmackDown after SummerSlam on Aug. 11, 2019! Enjoy Ian's recap of the latest show.

Smackdown opens with The Undertaker. "I wanted to come out here and take a minute, and absorb all this. For the past 30 years, I've considered these hallowed grounds my home. Now, I don't know how many times I'm going to get to come home anymore, but there's one thing that I want everyone to remember about this place: the titans that were born here. The legends that made their name here, and the heroes that were created right here in Madison Square Garden. And it's rewarding to know that each and every one of those souls, I took a little piece of it with me. But they will not be forgotten, because the echoes of their memories will go through these hallways for all of eternity. And now, we usher in a new era of Superstar."

Sami Zayn comes out. "Hey hey hey, wait a minute! Ladies and gentlemen, come on. Ladies and gentlemen, The Undertaker! The Phenom, the deadman! Hey look, I don't know much, but if there's one thing I know about New York City, it's that they respect legends. And you sir are a legend. But truthfully, I think what I find most impressive about your career is what you've done in this arena. Because you've been selling out this arena not for 10 years, not for 20, but for 30 years! Madison Square Garden has been your yard. But I think you can agree, tonight, it probably shouldn't be you opening Madison Square Garden. Even you can admit it should've been me. No disrespect, but 30 years! When is enough enough? I know you love WWE, and I know everything you do is about paving the way for the future. I'm trying to tell you, the future is here. The future is now, and the future is Sami Zayn. Now, I know these unruly fans in New York City probably want nothing more than for Sami Zayn to take out The Undertaker! That's not why I'm here. I am here out of respect, and I am here respectfully, I am here to ask you, turn around, and to leave this ring right now. I'm asking you to do the right thing, to leave this ring to me, and to pass the torch. And I promise you, Madison Square Garden and the future of WWE is in good hands with Sami Zayn. I give you my word."

Undertaker drops the mic, starts to leave the ring, sees Sami gloating behind him, and re-enters and stares him down. He grabs him by the throat and drops him with a chokeslam.

Backstage, Shane McMahon informs Chad Gable that Elias is out with a broken ankle. Chad says that he gets a bye, and Shane says that that wouldn't be fair, and he knows that Chad doesn't want that, so he's found him a replacement. Could be someone from either brand, could even be someone who's already been eliminated.

What, you guys don't believe that? Let's take a look. (side by side comparison) Yikes, that's all I've got to say. Handsome men hold doors open for me, they slam them in Nikki's face. Rowan hits the ring. "See, all my life, people just don't seem to get me. See, all of you, you think that I'm controlled by somebody, that somebody tells me what to do. Until last week. All of you need to look me in the eyes, because all of you are afraid to look me in the eyes and see what makes me tick. You need to look me in the eyes and see what I'm capable of. I'm a mastermind, a manipulator, a schemer. All you see is a big brute who victimizes, just like I did to Roman Reigns last week."

Hey, this arena will always hold a special place in my heart, because it's here in this very building that my career changed forever. It was here that I decided to step up and prove that I belonged here, and that's exactly what I did when I whooped Randy Orton all around this very building! I beat him out of the ring, through the crowd, and the best part was when I laid him out and I put his ass through a table! The whole city of New York was chanting my name, and I knew that, one day, I would be back in this arena, as your WWE Champion, and that day has come! I see a lot of kids out here, some of you may have forgotten what happened, but that's okay, we've got some footage to remind you. (footage) That right there is just a very small taste of what I'm going to do to Randy Orton at Clash of Champions, when I remain your--"

Orton comes out through the crowd. "Stupid, stupid, stupid! I can't keep listening to you list the only two things you've done. You won a world title and you put me through a table? In the past ten years, I've won the WWE Title seven times, the Royal Rumble twice, and Money in the Bank. But none of that matters. I'm here to prove that you've been pretending to be something you're not. Whether it was the Jamaican accent and dreadlocks, or that Power of Positivity bullshit."
