It's time for another episode of 205 Live on the WWE Network! WWE 205 Live is back again for Aug. 21, 2020 and this time it's in the WWE ThunderDome! Who will do battle in the cruiserweight division this week? Tune in for all the details. Hit F5 to refresh the live recap.

Vic Joseph and Drew Gulak welcome us to the show eminating from the ThunderDome! The former GM of 205 Live, Drake Maverick, is the first man out into the new and improved Amway Center turned into something special.

* Drake Maverick vs. Tahuti Miles

The bell dings, Miles takes his time takniig off his shades, fanny pack and shirt, then proceeds to comb his hair. Maverick wants to compete, they finally lock up, Miles backs him to a corner, clean break, Miles with a waistlock, takedown, and combs his hair again. Ref Jess backs Maverick up in a corner, Miles with a cheap shot, sits on the apron, Maverick dropkicks him in the back, hits a cannonball from the apron, mocks his hair, and slams his head on the ring apron. Miles sends him into the edge of the ring, uppercuts him, throws him back in the ring, mounted punches, and NOW he's mad. He sends Maverick's back into the ringpost, covers for 2, then puts him in a chinlock. Maverick tries for a schoolboy pin, 2-count, backslide pin, 2-count, hits a back elbow, sunset flip, Miles rolls through, waistlock, and Maverick counters with another roll-up for 1. Miles clotheslines him, elbow drops, fixes his hair, and taunts him before a clothesline in a corner. Maverick fights back with rights, calf kicks, forearm smash, bulldog, senton to the back, goes up top, connects with the diving elbow drop, and hits the Underdog (Spike Dudley's old finisher)W for 3. WINNER: DRAKE MAVERICK.

The commentators promote NXT TakeOver XXX taking place tomorrow night.

* Jake Atlas vs. Tony Nese

They lock up, clean break in the ropes, Atlas with a waistlock, Nese counters with an armbar, Atlas reverses with a takedown into a side headlock, Nese counters, Atlas with a headlock takedown, Nese gets back to his feet and backs him into a corner. Ref Jess is officiating this match too as she admonishes Atlas to break the hold. Nese backflips over him from the top, does umping jacks, side-stepping all around, Atlas hits a shoulder block, chops him in the chest, gets tossed onto the ropes but comes back with an armdrag, running hurricanrana, follows up with a dropkicks and kips up. Atlas covers for 1, European uppercut, covers for a 2-count, then applies a cravate. Nese reaches for the ropes, Atlas with a snapmare, crucifix pin for 2, side headlock, and Nese counters with a back suplex. Nese with southpaw mounted punches, hits a running back elbow, covers for 2, twists his head and neck, Atlas battles out, blocks a suplex, sunset flip, Nese rolls through and roundhouse kicks him in the head, but only gets a near-fall.

Atlas weakly fights back from his knees, Nese sends him sternum-first into the corner, only gets a 1-count, slaps him on the chest, sends him across the ring, but Atlas fires up and clocks him with a forearm. Atlas hits a back elbow, float-over, forearm knockdowns, running shoulder to the gut, springboard blockbuster, and covers for a 2-count. Atlas gets tossed onto the apron, shoulder to the midsection, sunset flip, Nese counters with a swift kick to the side of the head, hits the springboard moonsault, covers, and gets another near-fall. Both men trade slaps, punches, chops and elbows. Atlas tosses him to the floor, hits a suicide dive, throws him back in, goes up top, Nese ducks out the ring, Atlas grabs him in the ropes, Nese with a palm strike, Gulak says it was to the jaw, Nese acknowledges it was to Gulak, and Gulak warns Nese to stay focused and turn around because Atlas comes from behind with a schoolboy rollup for 3! WINNER: JAKE ATLAS.

Drew Gulak believes he's gonna get blamed for that comment. Nese attacks Atlas from behind, punches him in the face, stomps him down in a corner, lowers his kneepad, and hits the Running Kneese! Nese walks over to the announce table, takes off the cover, and says the 205 Live brand is crap with him. "The 205 Live roster is garbage without Tony Nese!" Nese storms off, Atlas is laid out, and Nese laments "Take that rookie, you punk."
