It's time for another episode of 205 Live on the WWE Network! WWE 205 Live recap for Oct. 2, 2020 and this time it's in the WWE ThunderDome. Who will do battle in the cruiserweight division? Tune in for all the details. Hit F5 to refresh the live recap.

Vic Joseph comes on screen to talk about this Sunday's NXT TakeOver 31 and runs down the card. The main focus tonight is about the NXT Cruiserweight Championship which will also be defended at TakeOver. The champion Santos Escobar will defend the NXT Cruiserweight Title against Isaiah "Swerve" Scott on Sunday's event.

This story began last April where these two first met, when Escobar was under the mask and moniker of El Hijo Del Fantasma in the tournament to crown a new Cruiserweight Champion. We get the whole match played back, and this was the very first time that Escobar was pinned since his arrival in NXT.

We get a clip of Escobar (as El Hijo Del Fantasma) ultimately winning the NXT Cruiserweight Title after defeating Drake Maverick in the finals of the tournament in June. From there, we go back to NXT on August 26th when Santos Escobar defended the title against Swerve Scott and we get the whole match played back for us.

We get commercials for the next two PPVs/events, NXT TakeOver 31 and WWE Hell in a Cell. Vic Joseph takes us to NXT on September 1st where the trio of Legado Del Fantasma took on Breezango and Isaiah "Swerve" Scott in a 3-on-3 street fight. To continue this feud, in the end it was Isaiah Scott who pinned Santos Escobar for the second time, the only man to ever pin the champ in NXT.

Vic Joseph summarizes everything up until this point, and runs down on the NXT TakeOver card this Sunday once again. He mentions that the NXT Cruiserweight Championship will be defended for the first time on an NXT TakeOver. Finally, we go to NXT two days ago where Escobar and Scott had a split-screen interview/debate, and now we're all up to date. See you Sunday!
