Mike's AEW Dark Recap - SCU vs Hybrid 2 (@Wrestling5286)

This show was taped prior to the unfortunate passing of Brodie Lee this past weekend. So, a lot of the commentary for this show is hyping up the New Year's Smash show that was originally scheduled for Tonight's Dynamite but that show will now be next week.

Match 1

Rey Fenix vs Vary Morales

Morales charges and misses and Fenix gets a series of near falls. Fenix goes for the waistlock and we get a series of near falls from both. Morales tries to hit the ropes but Fenix counters and Morales catches him coming with a big boot to the face. Morales works over Fenix and lands a series of shots. Morales whips Fenix in to the ropes and lands a big move in the corner followed by a cannonball on Fenix. Morales snaps Fenix over and locks in a chinlock on Fenix. Morales sends Fenix in to the corner, but Fenix lands a big kick to the head of Morales. Fenix sends Morales in to the corner and Morales catches him with a big boot followed by a tilt a whirl DDT. Fenix comes back and lands the HELLUVA KICK followed by a muscle buster in to a sit out driver for the win.

Match 2

Penelope Ford pinned Lindsay Snow with a handstand Cutter  

Match 3

The Dark Order-John Silver and Alex Reynolds vs Tyson Maddux and Shawn Dean

Dean and Reynolds lock up, Reynolds locks in a side headlock and Dean shoots him off, but Reynolds catches him with a big shoulder tackle. Reynolds hits the ropes but Dean drops down and Reynolds goes through the legs, but Dean takes down Reynolds with a shoulder tackle and lands a series of moves. Maddux comes in and lands a series of moves and a nice delayed vertical suplex. Silver and Reynolds come back and land a nice launching uppercut on Maddux. Silver lands a series of kicks to the chest and works over Maddux. Reynolds comes in and works over Maddux but Maddux comes back and is able to fight off Silver and Reynolds and make the tag out. Dean lands a series of clotheslines and works over the Dark Order but makes a way to quick tag out. Silver and Reynolds come back and quickly put Maddux to bed with a flurry of offense finished up with a German Suplex/Jackknife pin combination for the win.

Match 4

Anna Jay beat Jazmine Allure by submission

The Waiting Room  

DR Britt Baker joins us for this week's episode of THE WAITING ROOM. Britt comes out and talks about Omega vs Fenix being this week on Dynamite and talks about the return of Jon Moxley and apologizes that Mox's baby announcement had to be overshadowed by Cody's but that's just how it goes in AEW. Britt brings out her guest for the week Matt Sydal. Britt talks about Sydal's debut back at All Out and him slipping and Sydal says he definitely felt like the Shockmaster. Sydal says that he must be slipping upwards because he's on the Waiting Room. Sydal talks about his upcoming match with Cody in 2 weeks on New Year's Smash and promises to show why it's not Cody's ring it's his realm. Britt reads a letter that asks them to hang up a poster of GO BIG SHOW on the wall. Britt reveals the poster and Cody Rhodes is of course on it and they hang the poster and Sydal draws a third eye on Cody and again says that he's going to show Cody why the ring is his realm.

Match 5

Team Taz-Brian Cage Ricky Stars and Will Hobbs vs Ryzin, Nick Commoroto and James Tapia

Hobbs and Commorto start us off and Hobbs gets sent in to the corner early. Hobbs shoves Commorotto off and lands a big clothesline. Cage and Hobbs double team Commorotto and land a double back body drop and Commorotto tags out. Ryzin comes in and lands a series of shots but Cage blocks a headscissors attempt dropping Ryzin to the mat, followed by a basement dropkick. Starks lands a series of shots and sends Ryzin to the floor, Starks backs up referee Bryce Remsburg allowing Hook to take out Ryzin with a clothesline. Starks works over Ryzin but Ryzin escapes the grasp and makes a tag out. Tapia comes in and land sa series of shots but we get Cage blind tag in and a big superkick from Cage. Everyone does spots but in the end it's Cage with the DRILL CLAW on Tapia for the win.

Match 6

Griff Garrison pinned Fuego Del Sol with a rolling elbow. After the match Peter Avalon who had been doing commentary offers Griff an 8x10 photo but Griff throws it down.

Match 7

Ortiz and Santana vs Terrence and Terrell Hughes

Ortiz and Terrell lock up, Terrell gets control of the arm but Santana counters and rolls through with a nice arm drag. Santana locks in a side headlock, but gets sent off and takes down Terrell with a shoulder tackle. Santana catches Terrell with a big kick to the face, Santana hooks Terrell and lands a series of suplexes but Ortiz tags in and we get a running double suplex on Terrell from PNP. Terrell comes back and lands a big shoulder tackle followed by a double shoulder tackle from the Hughes Brothers. Terrence lands a series of shots but Santana tags his way back and lands a springboard crossbody block on Terrence. PNP work over Terrell for a bit but eventually Terrell escapes the grasp and makes the hot tag out. Terrence comes in and lands a series of clotheslines and a big belly to belly suplex on Ortiz. The Hughes Brothers land the 3D on Ortiz but Santana is able to stop the count and sends Terrence to the floor. PNP come back and land their powerbomb/knee to the face combination on Terrance for the win.

Match 8

Sammy Guevara vs Aaron Solow

Guevara and Solow lock up, Guevara gets a waistlock takedown and goes all the way around the body of Solow and does a little pose. Guevara locks in a side headlock and Solow shoots him off and Guevara tries to go over the legs and locks in a bodyscissors, but gets countered and Guevara goes for a cross armbreaker but Solow escapes. Solow forces Guevara in to the corner and lands a series of shots and works him over. Guevara comes back and lands a big dropkick and works over Solow. Guevara goes for a springboard but Solow catches him with a big dropkick in mid air and Guevara rolls to the floor. Solow goes for a springboard but Guevara catches him with a knee to the face and sends him to the floor. Guevara lands a beautiful Asai Moonsault to the floor on Solow. Guevara goes for a 450 splash but gets countered and Solow land some different double stomp variations, but Guevara comes back with a knee to the face, followed by GTH for the win

Sammy Guevara gets the microphone. Guevara says it's another win for the good guys. Guevara says that today marks his 10 year anniversary of being a pro wrestler. Guevara says that this wasn't no 15 minutes of fame or internet hype what he did was work something none of you did. Guevara says that he wrestled day in and day out for 10 years to get here. Guevara says whoever you think is next and whoever they think is next is going to find out why he is the man in AEW.

Match 9

Chaos Project-Luther and Serpentico vs Ariel Levy and Cuervo de Puerto Rico with Creeping Death on Cuervo

Match 10

Leva Bates pinned Madi Wrenkowski  

Match 11

Matt Sydal pinned Danny Limelight with a rolling cradle.

Match 12

Tay Conti pinned Vertivixen with a GORY SPECIAL in to a knee to the face.

Match 13

The Gunn Club-Billy Austin and Cohen beat Baron Black Mike Verna and Royal Money

Main Event

SCU-Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs The Hybrid 2-Jack Evans and Angelico

Kazarian and Angelico lock up to start and trade holds as we get underway with the match. Kazarian locks in a side headlock, Angelico tries to shoot him off but Kazarian ducks a shot and goes back to the side headlock. Angelico shoots Kazarian off but ducks his head and Kazarian lands a big boot followed by a clothesline/neckbreaker combination. SCU whip Angelico in to the ropes and Daniels goes downstairs with a shot to the gut, followed by a Kazarian swinging neckbreaker from Kazarian. Daniels sends Angelico in to the corner but misses a charge and Evans gets the tag in. Evans lands a series of shots and a big leg lariat off the ropes on Daniels. SCU come back and double team Evans for a bit. Kazarian picks up Evans and lands a big bodyslam followed by a springboard leg drop for a near fall. Kazarian goes for an Irish whip but gets countered and Angelico gets the knee to the back from the outside on Kazarian. TH2 work over Kazarian for several minutes including Evans locking in an octopus stretch but Kazarian escapes and lands a big clothesline on Evans and makes the hot tag out.

Daniels comes in and cleans house with a series of clotheslines and cleans house of TH2. Daniels does a spot where he hooks Angelico in reverse DDT position and at the same time drops Evans on top Angelico. SCU land a powerbomb/neckbreaker combination on Evans but Angelico stops that, and SCU miscommunicate as Kazarian nails Daniels with a clothesline. Evans and Angelico double team Kazarian and land a series of great moves however SCU comes back and takes Evans to Celebrity Rehab for the win.

Winner SCU-Christopher Daniels and Kazarian

After the match The Acclaimed come out and beat down SCU and are joined by TH2 to beatdown on SCU until the Young Bucks come out and make the save. Show ends with SCU and Bucks standing in the in the ring.
