WWE 205 Live

It's time for another episode of 205 Live on the WWE Network! WWE 205 Live recap for Mar. 5, 2021 and it's in the Capitol Wrestling Center! Who will do battle in the cruiserweight division? Tune in for all the details. Hit F5 to refresh the live recap.

You know, upon watching the opening credits for 205 Live the Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar is featured more than once. In that retrospect, it would be nice to see the champion on the show for the cruiserweight division. I know at this point this particular show has dwindled in importance in the WWE hierarchy, which pains me because I had high hopes for this show in its first year. Obviously, the pandemic severly slowed down progression and interest in the show. But at this moment in time, it seems like 205 Live has turned into the cruiserweight version of Main Event (another WWE show that I used to recap for AngryMarks and had interest in when it began), just with quicker action and a championship involved. OK, rant over.

* August Grey & Jake Atlas vs. Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari

This standand tag team match of faces and heels, with the faces (Grey and Atlas) getting the early flurry, but the heels gain the advantage and wear down one man. The face-in-peril here is Atlas and he has to battle his way back into the matchup while fighting off Nese and Daivari. Grey gets the hot tag to run wild on Nese with a hurricanrana, a clothesline, and a flipping belly-to-back suplex for a near-fall. Nese catches Grey for the Sunset Driver but Atlas kicks him to break the count and save his partner. Atlas throws Daivari out the ring, wipes him out with a suicide dive, but then he's taken out by Nese. Grey fights back, hits the So Much Prettier, and gets the 3-count. WINNERS: August Grey & Jake Atlas.

Earlier today, Curt Stallion and Mansoor were talking with Josiah Williams about last week's victory. Mansoor thanks Stallion for teaming with him bringing his record to 40-0. Stallion tells Mansoor he has that record because they never went one-on-one. At this point Josiah excuses himself while the two agree to have a match tonight.

After I ranted about Santos Escobar not being on 205 Live, the closest we get to seeing him is via a video recap from NXT two days ago where Legado Del Fantasma beat up two tag teams Breezango and Ever-Rise. We then get a video promo from The Bollywood Boyz boasting about not getting beat up like Ever-Rise did.

* Mansoor vs. Curt Stallion

The main match for tonight is underway, both men are chain wrestling with holds and counter-holds, Mansoor leapfrogs and trips him up, then they go right back to wresling. Stallion hits a German suplex with a bridge, gets a 2-count, snap suplex, kneedrop, and a 2-count. Mansoor wipes him out with a big running clothesline, and gets a couple of near-falls. Stallion fights out of a chinlock, hits a jumping double stomp, and drops him with an air raid neckbreaker. Stallion hits  a forearm smash in a corner, hesitation dropkick, stomps on his feet, pulls him out, drops him with a DDT on the bottom turnbuckle, and gets a couple of his own near-falls. Mansoor hits a double-underhook spinning powerbomb for 2.5 and he looks shocked. Stallion is dead weight, but comes back with a headbutt, Mansoor falls out the ring, so Stallion hits a plancha. Mansoor gets his knees up to block a frog splash, Stallion headbutts him again, hits a reverse Spanish Fly from the top rope, and Mansoor barely gets his foot on the rope to break the count! Mansoor side-steps him in a corner, hits the slingshot neckbreaker, and covers for 3! WINNER: MANSOOR.

This means that Mansoor is 41-0! He offers a handshake, Stallion accepts it, raises the winner's hand, and rolls out the ring. That's all for 205 Live!
