WWE NXT 2021

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for June 15, 2021 at 8 PM ET. After NXT was In Your House, we can expect the fallout to take place in the foundations for the superstars. Even though matches took plpace in the ring, there was PLENTY of chaos and anarchy throughout the night. NXT GM William Regal noted that there has been too much bedlam occuring, and vows that change must be made. What does Regal have in store for the black-and-yellow brand?! NXT is back in the Capitol Wrestling Center, now on Tuesday night! Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

NXT GM William Regal opens the show without fanfare to make his state of NXT address. Regal speaks calmly that he's been a part of NXT since day one, started as a commentator, and called the first TakeOver. Regal has a tear streaming down his cheek as he reminisces on the amazing journey NXT has had going all over the world from Japan to Australia to England. "Most of all, for each and every one of you that took us to San Jose and took us to Brooklyn and took us to Houston and took us to Portland, I finally decided with all the chaos here I've given you all I can give you. Because of all of you and the incredible competitors and the staff and all of you in your front rooms giving me your precious time, I don't think I'm capable of giving you what you deserve anymore. And so I think it's time for me to..."

Karrion Kross cuts Regal off and the NXT Champion comes down with Scarlett by his side. Kross says they knew this day would come so they came out to see it and feel it themselves. "Are you crying, Mr. Regal? You are completely pathetic. One week ago I told you, you lost control of this roster. You knew it was true, I saw it in your eyes. And then at TakeOver, when I punched a hole through the Mount Rushmore of NXT, you knew that I could control this place through chaos. I want you to say it. I want you to tell these people that you're leaving! And then I want you to walk your ass up that aisle and never come back. Say it that Kross was right. SAY IT! SAY 'KROSS CONQUERS ALL!' Say it Mr. Regal, we ain't got all night Mr. Regal. Tick tock."

SAMOA JOE IS HERE!! SAMOA JOE IS BACK IN NXT!! "Mr. Regal, I believe you wanted to speak with me." Regal tells Joe it was not to be in these circumstances, but since he's here, because of his love for NXT he thinks everybody desevers a General Manager who can hold the position with the dignity and respect it deserves. Regal wants Samoa Joe to be the GM of NXT! Samoa Joe tells him "Absolutely, not." Joe explains that he was one of the talent that Regal scouted to enter the company and helped make NXT an international phenomenon, and he has large shoes to fill. Joe realizes that he made Regal's life hell while he was in NXT but afforded him respect, and so in return he wants to make sure he gets the respect he deserves from everybody, including Kross. Regal then takes that idea into consideration, and tells Joe that if he takes a leadership role then he cannot be a competitor, and cannot lay a hand on anyone... unless provoked. Joe ACCEPTS the offer! Then Joe asks Kross, "What are you still doing in this ring? Tick tock, young champion." Kross slowly backs off as the crowd chants "Joe is gonna kill you! Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!"

After the first commercial break, the Grizzled Young Veterans didn't take kindly to what Ciampa and Thatcher said at TakeOver.

* Breezango vs. Imperium

Tyler Breeze and Marcel Barthel start the match for their respective teams, and they wrestle with holds and counter-holds. Barthel hits a shoulder block and takes control until Breeze gets in a jawbreaker. Fandando tags in to dropkick him, Fabian Aichner tags in and works over Fandango's left arm. Fandango chops him hard on the chest, Aichner goes for a sunset flip, but Fandango counters with a jumping legdrop. Breeze goes for a plancha but Imperium avoid him, but they get knocked down by Fandango. Barthel throws Breeze into the ring to distract the ref just so he can trip up Fandango on the top rope, which allows Aichner to knock him down. Breeze dropkicks Barthel on the floor, Fandango knees Aichner in the gut, and we take a commercial break.

We get picture-in-picture during commercials, Fandango delivers a suplex, floats over for a 2-count, Barthel tags in and attacks him from behind then continues the beatdown. Imperium hit their double dropkick in the corner and pose for their good deed. Barthel keeps him away from making a tag, Aichner tags in, clotheslines him, gets a 2-count, and knocks him down again with a back elbow.

When we come back full-screen, Aichner puts Fandango in a chinlock and beats him down, then catches him for a body slam. Barthel gets the tag, puts him in an half-nelson chinlock, ripcord knee strike, and puts him back in the chinlock as Breeze paces on the apron. Fandango rolls Barthel up for 2, kicks him off, knocks both men out the ring, gives Barthel a back drop, and crawls to make the hot tag! However, Aichner blasts Breeze with a hard clothesline, knocks Fandango off the apron, and Breeze with an inside cradle for 1-2-3!! WINNERS: BREEZANGO!

Imperium immediately beat down Breezango after the victory, and destroy Breeze with the European Bomb. Barthel and Aichner lay a sheet that says IMPERIUM over Breeze's prone body. Backstage, William Regal is yet again in the middle of a scrap this time between Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly. Regal makes a match between the two in a straight-up one-on-one match, and tells them to pick an opponent for next week. O'Reilly and Cole start fighting again, and now Samoa Joe shows up to separate them! Adam Cole shoves Joe aside, and because he was physically provoked he takes his jacket off and chokes Cole out with the Coquina Clutch!! Samoa Joe: "And when he wakes up, you tell him Mr. Regal expects to see him." Good thing O'Reilly decided to back off! Breaktime.

We get word from Santos Escobar calling out Bronson Reed after he had the NXT North American Championship in his hands, until he got squished again. "I'm coming for you, 1-on-1. I'm gonna pick you up like I did at TakeOver, and this time gravity will do the rest." Escobar vows to be the next North American Champion. Kushida will issue another open challenge for the Cruiserweight Title, and it's being answered this time by Trey Baxter.

* NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Kushida {C} vs. Trey Baxter

Kushida starts out early, Baxter has the escapes, Kushida with a single-leg trip, front facelock, and a 1-count. Baxter rolls him up for 1, puts him in a side headlock, avoids an armdrag, rolls him up for 1, blocks the Hoverboard Lock, drops down and kips up, does a hurricanrana, kicks him in the head from the apron, and hits a springboard clothesline. Kushida rolls out the ring, Baxter springboards off the ropes, Kushida tries to bounce onto the apron, Baxter kicks his knee, hits the Fosbury Flop, and KYLE O'REILLY shows up on the apron before a commercial break!

O'Reilly is now at ringside when we come back. Kushida hits an armbreaker, Baxter hits a step-over spinning heel kick, Kushida rolls away from a backflip, does an inverted atomic drop, hits the palm strike, hiptoss cartwheel into a dropkick, misses the arm kick, connects with the enzuigiri, Baxter ducks the handspring back elbow, and hits a backspring flip kick! Both men trade punches, Baxter with a forearm combo, Kushida hits the big punch, Baxter with the standing Spanish Fly, then connects with the SPRINGBOARD 450 SPLASH for 2.9! Kyle O'Reilly looks impressed and nods in approval. Baxter sets him up on the top, Kushida drops him with a falling armbreaker, soccer kicks the arm, rolls him over for the Hoverboard Lock submission and the champ retains! WINNER and STILL Cruiserweight Champion: KUSHIDA!

Kushida shakes Baxter's hand, and O'Reilly applauds him in a show of respect as well. O'Reilly steps into the ring, goes face-to-face with the champ, tells him he's not here to accept his challenge but to issue his own, and he wants to fight the best. "Next week, you and me. What do you say?" Kushida smiles after accepting the challenge.

Franky Monet gets interviewed and announces that next week will be the encore performance, meaning she'll wrestle next week. Money meets up with Jesse Kamea and Aliyah, and blames Robert Stone for them losing a match, but just then Stone shows up and everything is all good. Breaktime.

After the break, Mercedes Martinez is looking back at the footage of her match at TakeOver, then address Mei Ying, Boa and Xia Li. Mercedes offers a tie-breaker to Li, then tells Mei Ying that next time she won't be able to get out of her chair because "I will knock you right out of it."

Ted DiBiase heads to the ring for the coronation of the new champion. The Hall of Famer says he finally found someone worthy of being the next Million Dollar Champion, so we get a video package for LA Knight. Out comes the new DiBiase guy, and wants to talk to him. Knight tells DiBiase is his hero, can't believe he's standing in the ring with him after winning the Million Dollar Title, say's he's hurt all over, but since he won it's all worth it. "I needed you here tonight. I need you here so I can express my gratitude, and to say thank you. This is the greatest moment in my wrestling career. It would be the honor of my life for you to crown me as the Million Dollar Champion." DiBiase lays the title belt over Knight's shoulder, and the two start cackling. Now that Knight has the title, and has everything that he wants, he has to drop what he doesn't need. KNIGHT PUNCHES DiBIASE! Knight fights off DiBiase's guards as well and parades with the championship calling himself the true Million Dollar Champion. He stomps on DiBiase some more, and the Cameron Grimes makes the save punching Knight and clotheslines him out the ring!! Grimes checks on DiBiase, while Knight backs off with the title. "You crossed the line! Now you're gonna pay!"

Raquel González is asked why is she competing tonight since she won her title match last Sunday, and she says that she wants Candice and Indi to know they want the tag titles. Dakota Kai says after they battle Kacy and Kayden, they want the tag team gold. That match is next. After the break, as Kai and González head to the curtain, Samoa Joe and referees are holding back Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon, and to avoid a scuffle Regal tells them to keep it moving.

* Dakota Kai & Raquel González vs. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter

Dakota and Kayden start the match. Both women tease each other, Kacy tags in, drop Dakota in the ropes, and both kick her in the head, Kayden tags in, and a double team dropkick. Raquel tags in to throw Kayden around, counters an octopus stretch, Kayden splashes her in a corner, Kacy swings around and trips her, Kayden kicks her in the head, and Kacy gets a headscissors. Dakota tags in, Kacy gives her a headscissors as well, and dives onto her outside the ring. Kayden gets the tag, dives onto Dakota and Raquel, and we take a commercial break.

When we come back, Raquel is in control with Kacy caught in a backbreaker submission. During the break, Raquel assisted Dakota with a double foot stomp. Dakota tags in, hits a running face wash, gets a 2-count, Raquel is back in to clothesline her in a corner, and hits a sidewalk slam. Kacy drops Raquel on the ropes, Dakota kicks her off the apron, and Kacy turns the tables on her. Kayden gets the hot tag, fights off both women, hits a forearm smash, dropkicks Raquel into a splash onto Kai, kicks her through the ropes, and gets a near-fall. Dakota hits the scorpion kick, Raquel tags in, catches Kayden, hits a spinning sidewalk slam, and gets a near-fall of her own. Dakota tags in, hits the lungblower, covers, and Kacy breaks the count. Kayden fights them off but can't keep it going against them, Kacy tags in, assisted moonsault, and gets a 2-count. Kayden kicks Raquel in th eback of the head, Kacy dropkicks her in the back, tags out, and gives the champ a headscissors into the apron. Kayden hits a hook kick to Dakota, plants her with neckbreaker as Kacy hits the 450 Splash, and Kacy gets the 1-2-NO! Raquel yanks Kacy out the ring, slams Kayden into the barricade, Kacy goes up, Dakota kicks her in the head, hits the GTK, and covers for 3. WINNERS: DAKOTA KAI & RAQUEL GONZALEZ!

Ever-Rise talk trash about Hit Row messing with them. After the break, we get a commercial for the Great American Bash coming back to NXT in three weeks on Tuesday, July 6. Cole vs. O'Reilly will take place at the Bash, and next week they'll be in singles action.

Io Shirai comes out to make her own announcement. "I'm back! I feel good. My next target is..." Candice LeRae is here now, and she tells Io a lot has changed. She is now a (tag team) champion, Io is no longer a champion, and tells her she needs to earn her opportunities now at the back of the line. LeRae says she still can't stand her, and this is the wrong time to screw with her. The other half of the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions, Indi Hartwell, attacks Io from behind! Shirai fights them off, hits the tiger feint kick to Hartwell, but LeRae holds her legs and they beat her down. Indi takes the announce table apart, LeRae tells Hartwell to hit the elbow drop, but Zoey Stark makes the save! Stark hits a pump kick to LeRae, superkick to Hartwell, and Shirai hits both with a springboard dropkick!

Before Regal and Joe exit the building, they are asked about how the night panned out. As Regal begins to speak, the camera cuts to Ciampa and Thatcher walking past MSK eating popcorn saying they'll be watching. Thatcher takes one of the popcorn tubs away from MSK. We get a promo for Diamond Mine, opening next week.

McKenzie Mitchell tries once again to ask William Regal about his thoughts on tonight, and as Regal starts to speak, The Way's Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory show up. Gargano is high spirits now that Joe is here, but Joe tells him to get out. Pete Dunne shows up and has a staredown with Samoa Joe.
