Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for June 29, 2021 at 8 PM ET. With Samoa Joe back in NXT, GM William Regal has had a better handle of situations backstage. However, last week Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly had another brawl and had to be separated, while Malcolm Bivens had the new stable Diamond Mine with him and they viciously attacked Kushida! Will this new group cause more turmoil in the CWC? NXT is back in the Capitol Wrestling Center, now on Tuesday night! Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

* #1 Contender's Triple Threat Match for Women's Tag Titles: Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon vs. Zoey Stark & Io Shirai vs. Dakota Kai & Raquel González {NXT Women's Champion}

Ember, Io and Raquel all start the match for their own teams. Raquel tries to pverpower both women, every one tries to cover another, but the third one breaks up the pin.They dropkick the champ, but Raquel comes back with a double cothesline. The match gets very chaotic when all six women say screw the tags and all start brawling around the ring. Shirai  hits an Asai moonsault onto Dakota and Raquel, Shotzi hits a suicide dive onto the three, Ember follows up with a cannonball from the top rope, and Zoey catches the others with a springboard diving crossbody! Zoey Stark and Io Shirai are the only team standing as we take our first commercial break.

The action continues during the break with picture-in-picture. Dakota and Raquel try to keep the upperhand, but Zoey Stark comes back into the picture and delivers a suplex, but Shotzi breaks the count. Raquel body slams Shotzi, Zoey breaks the count, Io tags in to roll her up for 2 then puts the champ in a chinlock with body scissors, Shotzi puts Io in a chinlock now, and Io rolls back into a pin for 2.

Raquel clotheslines both Io and Shotzi when we come back full-screen. The NXT Women's Champion is in control now, Io roll her up for a double foot stomp, then all three women make the hot tags. Zoey clotheslines both Ember and Dakota, roundhouse kick to Ember, rolling kick to Raquel, German suplex to Dakota, sliding knee to both Ember and Dakota, and gets a near-fall. Io tags in, they double team Dakota, Io hits the tiger feint kick, hits the springboard missile dropkick, makes the cover, but Shotzi breaks it up with a senton! Shotzi hits a step-up enzuigiri, kneelift, rolling forearm, question mark kick, and the reverse sling blade to Shirai. Ember tags in, Shotzi hits an elbow drop, Ember drokicks her, and covers for a near-fall. Ember hits Dakota with knee strikes, a rolling forearm, tags out, and hits a double attack. Shotzi delivers a TIGER SUPLEX to Dakota for 2.5, locks in the Cattle Mutilation, Raquel breaks it up, all four women gang up on Raquel and kick her out the ring. Io and Zoey set up Dakota on the top rope, but Ember and Shotzi take over for a double superplex, but Io and Zoey come from under, and Raquel breaks it all up to throw the others around. Raquel powerslams Ember with a powerslam, powerbomb to Shotzi, Io dropkicks Raquel in the knee, Zoey hits a sliding knee, then Dakota hits a diving foot stomp onto Shotzi! Shirai hits a running meteora to Dakota, locks in the Crossface, Dakota counters and kicks her in the head, Shiari delivers a double-arm backbreaker, then hits the DIVING MOONSAULT onto Raquel and Dakota! Ember and Io fight out the ring, Shotzi hits a diving senton bomb from the top, Zoey hits a knee-to-face, Ember hits the ECLIPSE, and Dakota hits GO TO KICK! Shirai kicks out of a schoolgirl rollup, hits the palm strike, connects with the DIVING MOONSAULT once again, and gets the 3-count! WINNERS and new #1 Contenders: IO SHIRAI & ZOEY STARK!

Shirai and Stark will now get the opportunity to challenge The Way at The Great American Bash next week for the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles! Backstage, Karrion Kross enters the building, but Johnny Gargano rushes him into the bay door and beats him down until security break it up!

Vic Joeph and Wade Barrett are the only two on commentary this week as Beth Phoenix is on vacation this week. We go back to 2019 where the NXT Breakout Tournament took place and brought us (current) superstars such as Cameron Grimes, Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Dexter Lumis, Joaquin Wilde, Angel Garza and Bronson Reed. In 2021, the tournament returns in two weeks with more breakout superstars with a championship on the line.

Bronson Reed gets interviewed for his thoughts on being in the tournament last time around, and he sees it brought him to new heights by bieng in it. Swerve and his crew Hit Row show up to talk a little trash, and he asks why is Reed the only one to win a championship. Reed gets coerced into putting his North American Title on the line against Swerve tonight.

NXT Champion Karrion Kross storms to the ring with Scarlett behind him with the NXT Title. Kross gets a microphone and  tells Gargano that he's willing to die for the title, then dares him to come to the ring and take a shot. Gargano shows up on the stage, says he's not afraid of Kross, reminds the champ that he was attacked from behind last week, so this week he did the same. Gargano tells him, "I don't have a sword, but what I have is actual talent! You be bigger than me, but everybody knows I'm smarter than you." Austin Theory jumps Kross from behind! Gargano and Theory gang up on the NXT Champion, but the champ kicks Theory in the chest and suplexes Gargano. Kross shoves him into the plexighlass barricade, takes apart the steel steps, but security step in to intervene with Samoa Joe. Gargano superkicks Kross while he's being held back, and Kross gets in Joe's face before leaving with Scarlett.

Diamond Mine is next. Whatever is charging week by week, it's at 61% right now. Backstage, Theory and Gargano hop in their car and drive off. It's official - Reed faces Swerve with the title on the line. Diamond Mine head to the ring with Malcolm Bivens, and we cut back to last week where they made their debut as a group.

* Roderick Strong vs. Asher Hale

Strong controls the match from the beginning, Hale goes for an ankle lock, Strong drives Hale's head into the turnbuckle, hits a Urinage backbreaker, beats him down in a corner, hard chops, double-arm suplex for 2, and puts him in a waistlock. Strong hits a spinning back elbow, jumping knee, a butterfly lock, and Hale taps out. WINNER: RODERICK STRONG!

"Diamond Mine is open for business, and this is just the beginning baby!" says Malcolm Bivens before a commercial break.

* Cameron Grimes vs. Ari Sterling

Grimes aand Sterling go back and forth at the beginning, Grimes does a hurricanrana, Sterling rolls out the ring, pulls him off the apron, and hits a springboard moonsault bouncing from inside the ropes to the floor. Back in the ring, Sterling hits a springboard kneedrop to the back, a shooting star corkscrew senton for 2, and beats him down in a corner. Grimes comes back with forearm smashes, Sterling hits a flip kick, goes up top, rools through a shooting star attempt, and Grimes hts THE CAVE-IN and gets the victory. WINNER: CAMERON GRIMES!

LA Knight, the new Million Dollar Champion, comes out to gloat and mock Grimes calling him a loser. Grimes tells him that he sucks and calls him out to come down to the ring, then challenges him to a match for the title next week. Knight tells him no because he doesn't deserve it, but changes his mind and adds the stipulation that if Grimes loses than he must become his butler - his "Virgil" if you will. Grimes: "At Great American Bash, I'm leaving a champion and I'm going TO THE MOON!"

After the break, we go backstage for an interview with Zoey Stark and Io Shirai, but the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae show up to say they're a better tag team. Candice calls Io a sore loser, but Io reminds her that Candice has never beaten her and next week they will become the new champions.

Kyle O'Reilly explains that last week's match against Kushida was all about competition to make him a better fighter. He looks ahead to Adam Cole, and says beating him will be one step closer to becoming NXT Champion. O'Reilly calls out Adam Cole to come up with an excuse to get out of his match at The Great American Bash next week. Adam Cole comes out, but soon after so does Samoa Joe! "Gentlemen, please excuse my poorly timed interruption. But with respect to your personal safety, I took it upon myself to come out here to ensure that this week none of the nasty events of last week are seen here tonight. Please do not let me delay you any more. Gentlemen, have at it." Cole finally speaks to O'Reilly that he wishes he was in his own shoes to have the career that he's had. Cole insuates that O'Reilly is obsessed with him, so an incredulous O'Reilly recaps what he's done lately. Cole tells O'Reilly he's nothing without him, but says nobody would be talking about him if it wasn't for Cole himself, and takes all the credit for his success. Cole says everybody knows that he is the star, including Samoa Joe and even O'Reilly's WIFE. O'Reilly fires back saying he's ashamed for ever associating himself with Cole calling him a pathetic piece of-- Cole slaps the microphone out of his hand. Joe steps in as the peace-maker, ducks a swing from Cole, and O'Reilly takes Cole down and puts him in the heel hook! Samoa Joe just stands over Cole not even helping him in the situation as he reaches for him for help, and Joe walks away! Finally Joe calls for the security to step in and get involved.

Tian Sha is on the screen now, Xia Li and Boa talk about their match with Mercedes Martinez and Jake Atlas, and that match is next. After the break, the charger is now at 71%. Hit Row give Sweerve encouraging words of advice ahead of tonight's match. Swerve says that Reed will find out why he's just different.

* Jake Atlas & Mercedes Martinez vs. Tian Sha

THE BRAWL IS ON! The men start the match officially, Boa uses his height as an advantage, but Atlas is quicker with an a springboard armdrag and dropkick. Xia Li tags in, kicks Martinez in the jaw, hits a forearm smash and a jumping stomp in the corner. Martinez blocks a suplex, rolls her up for 2, gives her a back body drop then shouts to Mei Ying before a commercial break.

When we come back, Boa has Atlas in a chinlock. Boa and Li got the advantage during the break, but now Atlas breaks free and makes the tag. Martinez clotheslines Li twice, running knee, blocks a high knee, delivers a top rope double underhook suplex, and Boa breaks the count. Atlas and Martinez hit a combo back suplex and clothesline to Boa to take him out. Martinez gets distracted by Mei Ying, Xia Li attacks her from behind, delivers an exploder suplex, the roundhouse kick connects, and Martinez slowly gets her shoulder up... Wait - Martinez is seriously hurt. The match is over. WINNERS by referee stoppage: TIAN SHA.

Watching it on replay, that roundhouse kick connected directly on the side of the head. It's so bad that we don't even see Martinez on the screen since the "kickout" and we only see Tian Sha standing on the ramp in victory. Breaktime, with a commercial for NXT UK.

Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa head to the ring next, each carrying a steel chair. Not to be outdone, MSK come out both with chairs as well. This will be a unique face-to-face indeed as the the two teams sit down staring holes in one another. Ciampa tells the champs that they will be the underdogs, and "Toothless Timmy" is hungry for NXT gold. MSK start to speak, they all stand up throwin their chairs down, and Wes Lee mentions that they respect Ciampa and Thatcher. Nash Carter tells them to put respect on their name, and Lee adds that they will remain the NXT Tag Team Champions. Carter smacks Ciampa, Thatcher shoves Lee down, but Ciampa surprisingly remains calm and holds Thatcher back. Ciampa tells them that tonight they got a freebie, because next week they won't be so lucky.

Mr. William Regal speaks backstage to talk about the matches and championships on the line next week at The Great American Bash. In two weeks, the Breakout Superstar tournament will take place. Sarray shows up and requests a match with Toni Storm, and Regal considers it. After a commerrical break, the charger is now at 81%.

Karrion Kross walks to his car, fights off Austin Theory, but Gargano gets in a sneak attack from behind and slams the door on him. "Anytime, any place, anywhere! Karrion Kross is not on my level!" No Gargano, but Kross is putting you in the Kross Jacket in the middle of the parking lot! Kross smacks Gargano in the back of the head with the vicious forearm and Theory falls into the garage door. Scarlett wants Kross to run Gargano over, but Samoa Joe pulled him away at the last second. "Johnny, perhaps tonight, you pushed him a little too far. Get up." Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett run down the card for next week's Great American Bash special.

* NXT North American Championship: Isaiah "Swerve" Scott vs. Bronson Reed {C}

The main event is underway, they lock up collar-and-elbow, Reed shoves him down, lock up again, Swerve locks up his arm, Reed counters, Swerve with a waistlock, Reed overpowers him into a side headlock, Swerve tries to counter but Reed puts him back in the headlock and hits a shoulder block. Reed stomps on his chest, Swerve looks for a triangle choke, Reed powers him up and shoves him down during a leapfrog. The champ presses Swerve in a military press slam, headbutts him, hard Irish whip to the turnbuckles, and pulls him off the ropes with a splash. Both men on the apron, Swerve chops him on the chest, Reed slaps him hard on his chest, Swerve kicks him, chops his thigh, Reed tosses him into the ring, Swerve goes for a sunset flip bomb off the apron, but Reed sits on his chest on the apron! Swerve falls to the floor as we take our final commercial break.

During the picture-in-picture, Reed brings Swerve back into the ring right in front of Hit Row. Swerve hits a running dropkick from the apron sending him into the barricade, hits a diving uppercut to the back from the top rope, barely gets a 2-count, and goes on offense. Swerve drops him with a neckbreaker and gets a 2-count before the break ends.

Full-screen now, Swerve has him in a chinlock with an arm trapped, Reed powers up, chops him on the chest again, Swerve gets a waistlock, hits a rebound German suplex off the ropes, and gets a 2-count. Swerve puts him in a half-nelson, Reed powers him up, Swerve switches to a sleeper, Reed throws him down, but Swerve comes back with the rolling flatliner for a near-fall. Hit Row are beside themselves on the floor thinking he had that. Reed blocks the House Call, Swerve slaps him, hits the discus backhand, Reed hits a discus clothesline, Swerve pops back up with a dropkick, Reed catches him rolling in and plants him with the death valley driver!

Reed starts swinging and chopping, hits the bionic elbow, avalanche in a corner, body block, senton, heads up top, Hit Row cause interference, the referee yells at them, Top Dolla charges at Reed but crashes through the plexiglass when Reed side-stepped him! Adonis runs to check on him, and Reed throws him over the barricade too! Swerve hits the House Call to the head as soon as the champ gets back in the ring, connects with the 450 SPLASH across his back, makes the cover, 1-2-3!! WINNER and NEW NXT NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: ISAIAH "SWERVE" SCOTT!!

Swerve has finally won gold in NXT!! Hit Row gather on the stage, and celebrate Swerve's victory. If you didn't know, now you know!
