Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for September 7, 2021 at 8 PM ET! This week, the NXT Tag Team Titles are on the line as Lorcan and Burch challenge the champs MSK. Ember Moon goes one-on-one with Kay Lee Ray. Also, Kacy and Kayden challenge Io Shirai and Zoey Stark for the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles. NXT is back in the Capitol Wrestling Center, now with a full crowd! Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

* Ember Moon vs. Kay Lee Ray

The match goes back and forth at the start until Ember gets the upper hand with a dropkick and the first cover for a 1-count. KLR fiercely works on the left arm of Moon and even drops her with a gourdbuster for a 2-count. KLR tries for a cross armbreaker, Moon counters for a 2-count, another roll-up for 2, a pop-up headscissors, clotheslines, kicks, step-up enzuigiri, diving facecrusher, gets a near-fall then puts her in the crossface. Kay Lee Ray counters with a 2-count, Moon keeps the crossface hold on, KLR counters, but Moon locks in the gogoplata! Ray does a schoolboy rollup into the bottom turnbuckle, and we take our first commercial break.

We go to picture-in-picture as KLR takes control of the match now, puts her in a grounded hammrlock, rolls her up for 2, and drops her with a big boot. Moon tries to fight back and they trade forearms, but KLR does a double-knee armbreaker and puts her back in the hammerlock. Moon rolls her up for 2, another 2-count, KLR clotheslines her and goes back to the hammerlock.

Back from break full-screen now, KLR hits an armbreaker, covers for 2, Moon with an inside cradle for 2m KLR slaps her, and hits a superkick. Ember fires up, kicks to the back in the tree of woe, hits a discus kick to the head, and covers for 2. KLR sends her into the turnbuckles, hits a springboard tornado DDT, covers for 2, Ember suplexes her out to the floor, and hits a suicide dive. KLR blocks the Eclipse, pulls her down, goes to the top rope, hits the swanton, and gets a near-fall. They trade shots, Moon counters a superkick with a flipping slam, gets a close near-fall, and the crowd in the CWC chants "This is awesome!" Pin covers back and forth, all 2-counts, KLR hits the Gory Bomb, and gets the 3-count! WINNER: KAY LEE RAY!

Oney Lorcan and Danny Birch are preparing for their title match with Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland looking on. They get interviewed and they're done talking and ready to take back their championships. Holland mentions that when people step to them they get hurt, and Dunne tells them to get their titles back and end MSK. The new version of NXT is coming next week.

There was a bachelorette party that took place over the weekend, set up by Candice LeRae. Not much to explain here. They wonder how the bachelor party is going with Dexter Lumis and Johnny Gargano, and Candice mentions she has spy gear. Beth Phoenix is super excited for the wedding next week, but Wade Barrett is disgusted.

* Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar

Legado Del Fantasma come out to ringside with Escobar for his match. They lock up, Escobar backs him to the ropes, clean break, Escobar outwrestles him, slams him on the back, and allows him to exit the ring. They reset, Hayes with an arm wrench and an armdrag. Hayes hits a running hurricanrana and lowers the ropes for Escobar to leave, but that only upsets the luchador as he slams him down face-first. Escobar hits a DDT for a couple of 1-counts, Hayes leapfrogs over him, rolls him up for 2, short kick to the head, pump kick, but then Escobar shoves him off the apron and Hayes crashes into the announce table before a commercial break.

When we come back Escobar puts the pressure on with a Boston crab and works on the back. He clotheslines Hayes in the corner, hits back elbows, double knees to the chest, and a hard slap on the chest. Escobar gives him a super hurricanrana off the top, makes a couple of covers for 2, applies the crossface, shoulder to the midsection, throws him in the steel steps and applies the Boston Crab over the steps. Escobar brings him back in for a 2-count, yells at the fans as they taunt him, Hayes escapes his grasp to trip him on the ropes, kicks him in the back, and hits a springboard legdrop on the ropes! Escobar gets to the announce table, Hayes attacks, hits the springboard clothesline, running knee, does a suplex cutter, and covers for a near-fall! Escobar counters a springboard with the jumping knee, Hayes comes back with the lungblower, takes him down with a tilt-a-whirl facebuster, and does a slingshot DDT on the apron. Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza hop onto the apron to distract the referee, and that's all for Elektra Lopez to body slam Hayes on the floor! Hayes makes it back into the ring at 7, but Escobar drops him with the Phantom Driver for the 3-count. WINNER: SANTOS ESCOBAR!

Via WWE Digital, Malcolm Bivens was here to introduce us to the Creed brothers, the two newest members of Diamond Mine. Roderick Strong approved and welcomed them to the team.

After the break, McKenzie Mitchell interviews NXT GM Mr. William Regal about the NXT Championship. Regal says next week we will find out the #1 contender when Tommaso Ciampa, Kyle O'Reilly, LA Knight and Pete Dunne compete in a fatal 4-way match.

* The Creed Brothers vs. Chuckie Viola & Paxton Averill

Brutus Creed starts the match, body slams his opponent to the floor, brings him right back in as he tags out, and delivers an overhead belly-to-belly suplex to the other opponent. Julius Creed slaps his brother to tag in, they double-team throws, rams his opponent into the turnbuckles, hits a facelock suplex, and an exploder powerslam. The Creed Brothers collide their opponents, body slams, Julius hits a double-leg driver, blasts him with a sliding lariat, and gets the victory. WINNERS: THE CREED BROTHERS.

Malcolm Bivens is proud of his new team as he seeks Wade Barrett's approval. After the break, Ember Moon gets interviewed and she's in a tough place. She's lost her tag titles, lost her tag partner, and lost every match since. Moon doesn't want to feel like this anymore, so she's going to make a change so we have to stay tuned.

We go back to the studio with Hit Row. Swerve is laughing about what happened because he's not even mad about it, because he knew that Legado Del Fantasma were going to come up with some plan. B-Fab is upset about Elektra Lopez hitting her with a pipe, says she doesn't know who she is but now they have a problem. "If you didn't know, now you know."

* NXT Women's Tag Team Championship: Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter vs. Zoey Stark & Io Shirai {C}

Catanzaro and Stark start the match. After a while, Carter and Shirai tag in and go at it with evasions and cartwheels. Stark wants the tag, but Shirai tells her "I don't need your help!" Carter dropkicks Shirai, covers for 2, then works the arm. Catanzaro tags in to continue work on the arm, Shirai wraps her legs in the ropes, hits a lungblower, and Stark finally tags herself in as we take a commercial break.

Stark is in control when we come back from break. Carter gets the blind tag, takes them both down, dropkicks Shirai and splashes onto Stark, short kick to the jaw, and gets a 2-count. Stark connects with a roundhouse kick, Shirai tags herself in, tiger feint kick to Carter, soccer kick to Catanzaro, hits the top rope missile dropkick to Carter for 2, and puts her in the crossface. Shirai beats her down, Catanzaro tags in, double team moves lead to an assisted moonsault onto Shirai for 2, Shirai delivers a German suplex, and hits double knees in the corner. Stark tags herself in, gets yelled at by Io, kicks Carter in the head, covers for a near-fall, whips Carter to the corner, Carter knocks Io off the apron as Stark collides into her, and Carter hits a hammerlock flatliner! Catanzaro tags in, they hit the avalanche splash, she makes the cover, and Shirai hits a springboard missile dropkick to Carter knocking her into breaking the count. Stark hits the sliding knee, covers for 2, hits the rotation GTS, Shirai tags in, hits the Moon Over Moonsault, and gets the 3-count. WINNERS and STILL NXT WOMEN'S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: ZOEY STARK & IO SHIRAI!

Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne and Mandy Rose beat down Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter on the stage!!

Kyle O'Reilly speaks on his career the past few months and how it's changed him. He's closed a big chapter in his life, and now he feels free. Now, O'Reilly's next step is being NXT Champion in the future. Breaktime.

Over the weekend, Dexter Lumis was with Johnny Gargano, Odyssey Jones, Drake Maverick, Cameron Grimes and the zombie ref for his bachelor party. Gargano complains that he's not paying for the wedding for the bachelor party, but Cameron Grimes is paying for it to go "TO THE MOON!" Grimes calls for a truce with Lumis before they go party doing go-karts, trampolines, and laser tag. Gargano hi-fives all the guys including the zombie ref, but pauses with Lumis. Suddenly, the zombie ref acts right and says "He's not that bad, eh?" The first reaction from everyone is asking if he's Canadian. Odyssey nudges Gargano into the hi-five with Lumis and it's a done-deal. Candice and Indi show up, Gargano asks Candice if they were spying again, and he finally accepts them saying "Guys, let's go have a wedding." Dexter Lumis actually cracked a smile!

After the break, Franky Monet and Jessi Kamea are gossipping backstage about the In-Dex wedding. Robert Stone shows up out of breath coming from Mr. Regal's office, and he says that next week is confirmed. Franky Monet vs. Raquel González for the NXT Women's Title.

* Mei Ying vs. Virginia Ferry

Mei Ying chops her in the throat, puts her in the sleeper, Ferry counters with a jawbreaker, but Ying hits a big boot, uppercuts her in the throat, does a cartwheel uppercut, chokes her, and holds her down for 1-2-3. WINNER: MEI YING!

We get words from LA Knight as he drives in a convertible, he claims that it's his time, and he plans to see Samoa Joe soon. MSK is getting ready for their match coming up next. After the break, we finally get words from Tommaso Ciampa before next week's fatal 4-way match. Also next week, Franky Monet challenges for the NXT Women's Championship. Also, the wedding is next week for In-Dex!

* NXT Tag Team Championship: Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. MSK {C}

Danny Burch starts the match with Nash Carter and the crowd chants "Welcome back!" Burch has a new aggression taking him down with a headlock takeover as Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland look on. Carter hits a basement dropkick and kips up, but Lorcan gets the tag and tries to wear him down with an uppercut. Wes Lee tags in, they hit double team kicks and stomps, Lee covers for 1, puts him in a front facelock, Carter tags in and hts a tope atomico. Burch tags back in, clobbers him in the back, Lorcan back in, more strikes, Burch in again, Carter hits a springboard corkscrew crossbody and uppercuts him in a corner. Lee gets the tag, Carter dropkicks Burch, and we take our final commercial break.

Both teams regroup during picture-in-picture, Burch and Carter lock up, trade wrestling holds, Burch blasts him with a clothesline, covers for 2, Lorcan tags in, uppercuts and chops, Burch tags back in, snap suplex, 2-count, then puts him in the chinlock.

When we come back, Burch ducks the enzuigir, delivers a back suplex, covers for 2, Lorcan tags in, chops him, uppercuts, snap suplex, mounted punches, and tags out. Carter finally catches a break with a jumping knee to Burch's jaw and both men are down. Both sides get the hot tags, Lee strikes Lorcan down, boot to Burch, dropkick to Lorcan, forearm smash, superkick to the back of the head, German suplex with bridge, and gets a 2-count. Lorcan with a jawbreaker, Lee comes back with a spin kick, Carter tags back in, they hit the pushing moonsault, Burch breaks the count, Lee hits Burch with a suicide dive, and Carter wipes out Lorcan with a diving moonsault!

Lorcan is thrown back into the ring, Carter goes top rope, Lorcan gets his knees up to block the senton, hits a chopblock, applies the ankle lock, and Burch catches Lee coming in and puts him in the crossface! (A lot of crossfaces being applied tonight!!) Carter counters sending Lorcan into Burch to break that up, and all four men are down. ("This is awesome!") All four men strike each other, Lorcan chops Carter in the corner, hits running back elbow, Carter hiptosses Lorcan into the turnbuckles, superkick to Burch, Lee tags in, they hit the springboard spinebuster/blockbuster combo, and get the 1-2-3! WINNERS and STILL NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: MSK!

MSK celebrate on the stage as Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland stare at them from inside the ring, but then Holland headbutts Burch! Lorcan looks on with confusion, and Dunne kicks him in the head, pummels him, kicks him in the head again and Holland powerslams him down! Holland headbutts Burch again for good measure before leaving with Dunne.
