NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for September 28, 2021 at 8 PM ET! Tonight there are three championship matches - the NXT Women's Championship, the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship, and the Cruiserweight Championship. Plus, the women of Hit Row and Legado Del Fantasma will compete in a no-DQ match. It's Ladies' Night in NXT! NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

Hit Row hit the ring first and they talk about it being Ladies' Night this week in NXT. They mention all the titles scheduled to be on the line tonight, but Swerve's NXT North American Championship is not one of them. After some banter, Legado Del Fantasma head down, and the women will start their match.

* No Disqualification Match: B-Fab vs. Elektra Lopez

They battle outside the ring before the bell, and eventually they get in the ring to signify the match officially starting. B-Fab dropkicks her, they fight outside the ring again, and Elektra shoves her into the steel steps. Joaquin Wilde introduces a trash can, but Top Dolla swats it away, and now the two groups are fighting into a commercial break!

When we come back the ringside has cleared out and now it's just Elektra choking B-Fab with her boot. Elektra pulls out a table, B-Fab cuts her off, but Elektra picks her up, B-Fab slips off and shoves her into the edge of the ring, then slams her leg into the table legs. Elektra brings in a couple of kendo sticks and a few chairs into the ring, then body slams B-Fab onto the chairs. B-Fab hits her with a chair and a kendo stick, but then Elektra hits a crosbody through a chair, drops her on the top of another, and plants her with a spin-out powerbomb for the win! WINNER: ELEKTRA LOPEZ!

We look at the honeymoon of In-Dex now, and it's them on the beach. Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae are on a hotel balcony watching over them. Gargano decides to pretend to be a shark to scare them out of the water. Breaktime.

Joe Gacy is sitting on a chair in the middle of the ring, and he calls the ring a safe space. He says he made an impact last week, and he's not cancelled, and says he stood up to Tommaso Ciampa, Roderick Strong and Bron Breakker and didn't throw a punch. He continues talking and says they can solve issues by talking about it... on a wrestling show. "I don't want to take up too much of your time. I know there's a match coming up. Thank you for your open mind."

* Xyon Quinn vs. Oney Lorcan

Quinn hits a shoulder block, throws him out the ring, and hits a spinning back elbow. Lorcan comes back with a running European uppercut, knife edge chop, Quinn tosses him back, Lorcan puts him in a chinlock, clubs him on the back, but Quinn fires up, does an inverted atomic drop and blasts him with a clothesline. Quinn hits a Samoan drop, kips up, hits a running forearm smash, and gets the 3-count over the former tag team champion. WINNER: XYON QUINN!

We get a video profile for Grayson Waller, and his first singles match in NXT for be for the Cruiserweight Title. MSK, the NXT Tag Team Champions, head out before a commercial break.

Samantha Irvin is in the ring to interview the Tag Team Champions about their next move in NXT. MSK say that they're going to continue dominating the tag team division, and will defend the titles against the old school or the new school of 2.0 in the new era. The Grizzled Young Veterans interrupt to complain about not getting their own 2-on-2 title match. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams head out to talk about being a soon-to-be champion. GYV tell them to get in line behind them, but MSK cut them off to say they are the better tag team. Now Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs head out to get involved in the conversation. Briggs and Jensen start fighting with Williams and Hayes, GYV get knocked off the apron, and MSK wipe them all out with flip dives!

McKenzie Mitchell is standing with Raquel Gonzalez about her upcoming title defense. As Raquel speaks, passing by her are Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne, and Mandy Rose who says the title looks good on Raquel but will look better on Mandy.

* NXT Women's Tag Team Championship: Toxic Attraction vs. Io Shirai & Zoey Stark {C}

Shirai and Dolin start the match for their teams, Shirai dropkicks her and kips up, Jayne tags in, kicks and chops her, and Shirai beats her down. Stark tags in, they trade pinfalls, Stark rolls her up for 2, Jayne rolls her up for 2, they chop each other, Stark with a hook kick, springboard tope atomico, 2-count, Dolin tags in, penalty kick and covers for 2. Stark does a jawbreaker into a short-arm clothesline, and the champs both hit springboard missile dropkicks. Stark wipes out Jayne with a diving crossbody to the floor, Dolin takes her out with a cannonball, and Shirai is not outdone with a diving moonsault! Mandy Rose can't believe what's going on as we take a commercial break.

When we come back Dolin and Shirai are going at it. Dolin does a headscissors into the ropes, Jayne tags in to hit a running kneelift, snap suplex, and gets a 2-count. Shirai kicks her off, kicks her in the head, and kicks herself to make the hot tag. Stark attacks Jayne with kicks, half-and-half suplex, kips up, sliding kick, Dolin breaks the count, Stark clotheslines her out the ring, Jayne with a big forearm, Stark hits a rolling senton, goes for the Phoenix Splash but rolls through, and both women take each other down. Both side get hot tags, Shirai takes down Dolin, flapjack, tiger feint kick, knocks Jayne off the apron, hits the springboard dropkick to Dolin, and covers for a near-fall. Mandy Rose is still panicking as Shirai puts Dolins AND Jayne in a double crossface! Mandy puts one of their feet on the ropes to break the count, then Toxic Attraction get close to winning after a German suplex brigded by Dolin for 2.9! Jayne tags in, superkick, Stark with the rotation GTS, Shirai tags in, dropkiks Dolin off the apron and Stark wipes her out with a plancha then gets in Rose's face. Shirai hits the palm strike to Jayne, hits the diving moonsault, and gets the 3-count as Stark blocks Mandy from interfering! WINNERS and STILL NXT Women's Tag Team Champions: IO SHIRAI & ZOEY STARK!

We get a video package profiling Bron Breakker, and he wants the NXT Championship. Breaktime. When we come back Tommaso Ciampa decided to FaceTime into the show. His response to Bron Breakker is that he received the message that he is not going to waste time going for the title. Ciampa reminds us that he never lost the title and it took a long time to get it back. If Breakker wants the champ, he "will drown in an ocean of inexperience."

* Boa vs. Andre Chase

Boa with a cravate early on, Chase counters to a hammerlock, Boa reverses to a side headlock, and Chase counters with an armdrag. Boa strike first with kicks and knees, stomps on his hand, Chase beats him down, and puts him in a chinlock while talking trash to Boa and Mei Ying. Boa kicks him down, shotgun kick, Chase exits the ring and shouts "You son of a bitch!" Mei Ying blows mist in Chase's face, Boa drops Chase with a reverse DDT, and covers for 3. WINNER: BOA!

Time for part two of the honeymoon of InDex. Gargano and LeRae worry about what's next, and Gargano tells room service that he forgot his key just to enter their room, and he finds that they have proper protection - a whole sleeve of it. InDex return to their room, Gargano hides in the closet, and InDex start having fun on the bed (pillow fighting) as Gargano is hiding. Gargano finds his chance to sneak out, but Dexter Lumis spots him, gives him a thumbs up, and shows off the sleeve of condoms.

* NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Roderick Strong {C} vs. Grayson Waller

Waller attacks Strong from behind and takes him out with a suicide dive! Waller is fired up as we take a commercial break. The match was made official during the break and Waller is in control until Strong shoves him off the top rope to the floor. Strong chops him hard on the chest, stomps him down, hits a backbreaker, covers for 1 then puts him in a grounded abdominal stretch. Waller strikes back after getting chopped, rolls him up for 2, Strong counters a backslide for 2, countered by Waller for 2, Strong with a crucifix for 2, countered for 2, and Strong counters the crescent kick for another backbreaker. The champ puts him in a modified camel clutch to work on the back, Waller fights out, Strong delivers a suplex for 2, puts him in a crossface, Waller reaches the ropes, Strong chops him again harder and harder, Waller blocks a superplex, hits a missile dropkick and hurt his back on the landing. Waller clotheslines him, crescent kick, discus forearm, diving elbow drop from them middle ropes, and gets a near-fall. Waller kicks him in the head, hits a tope con hilo, rolls back into the ring for a Stunner, and gets 2.5! Strong hits the jumping knee to the jaw and covers for 3. WINNER and STILL NXT Cruiserweight Champion: RODERICK STRONG!

LA Knight gets interviewed next and he challenged Odessey Jones to a match next week. Jones promises him that no one's ever seen anything like him. Andre Chase walks by shouting "Bullshit! Should've been a disqualification!" Knight takes advantage and cheap shots Jones beating him down.

After the break, we get a video profile for Dante Chen representing Singapore. Afterwards, the man he defeated Tray Baxer is being interviewed with Cora Jade, who will be in action next week. Cora says she's only 20 years-old and can't wait to show what she can do. She says she won't do what Baxter did last week and kisses him before they walk off, and Wade Barrett is disgusted.

* Lashing Out with lash Legend segment

This is a talk show segment. Lash Legend talks about the WWE draft, and shows off that she is a former WNBA player. Lash talks about Tray Baxter and Cora Jade, and then calls Ikemen Jiro a real man. Then she says Andre Chase needs help or something like that - I stopped paying attention.

As Ridge Holland comes out, Kyle O'Reilly jumps him and Pete Dunne from behind and they brawl into the commercial break!

* Ridge Holland vs. Kyle O'Reilly

The match went underway during the break and now Holland has O'Reilly in a rear waistlock. During the break, Holland delivered a cradle suplex. Holland catches him for a backbreaker and overhead suplex for a 2-count, then sends him into the turnbuckles with force. O'Reilly battles out of a bearhug, bell clap, catches him in the guillotine, rolls him up, avoids the kneedrop, knees and kicks, legsweep, forearm smash in the corner, armbreaker, dragon screw, running knee, covers for 2, then puts him in the cross armbreaker submission. Holland powers him up for a dead-lift buckle bomb, does a tilt-a-whirl sidewalk slam, and covers for 2. Holland drops him with a falling powerbomb, covers for 2.5, O'Reilly hits a chopblock, goes up top, and now Pete Dunne is on the apron. O'Reilly slips off of Holland's shoulder, shoves him into Dunne, and rols him up for 3!

Post-match, Holland and Dunne beat down O'Reilly until Von Wagner makes the save! O'Reilly and Wagner clean house and stand tall in the ring.

We get another vignette for Tony D'Angelo debuting next week. The main event is next!

* NXT Women's Championship: Raquel Gonzalez {C} vs. Franky Monet

They lock up, wrestle around, Monet with a back kick, headlock takedown, Raquel counters and slams her down. Monet starts laughing and slaps her around, Gonzalez delivers a fallaway slam, then Robert Stone and Jessi Kamea pull Franky out the ring. Gonzalez brings her back into the ring, hits a swinging slam, covers for 2, Monet rolls out the ring and fires herself up. Stone and Kamea check on her again, Gonzalez goes after her, and Monet comes back by pulling the champ off the steps onto the floor then brings her back in for a 2-count. Monet clotheslines her in a corner, delivers a snap suplex, covers for 2, slams her face into the mat, gets a 2-count, then puts her in a body scissors. Gonzalez fights back, clotheslines her, running back elbow, shotgun kick, springboard spinning senton, and covers for 2. Gonzalez can't delver the powerbomb due to her back hurting, so Monet takes advantage getting in more offense, but eventually Gonzalez catches her for the Chingona Bomb and gets the 1-2-3!! WINNER and STILL NXT Women's Champion: RAQUEL GONZALEZ!

Toxic Attraction make their way down, they stare down The Robert Stone Brand, and they attack Stone, Kamea and Monet from bhind! Now they circle around the ring, Barrett is reminded of Nexus the way they surround the ring, and Raquel Gonzalez stands ready with her championship which she uses on Gigi Dolin! Gonzalez fights off Jacy Jeyne, but Mandy Rose fights her until Dolin hits a chopblock. Raquel tries to fight back but the numbers are too off for her to fight alone, so as Dolin and Jayne hold her up Mandy Rose takes the final shot with the running knee to the jaw. Rose holds up the NXT Women's Championship as Toxic Attraction stand over the fallen champ.
