NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for October 5, 2021 at 8 PM ET! MSK will defend their NXT Tag Team Titles against three other teams in a fatal 4-way main event. Mandy Rose had made a statement with the NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez last week. Also, the new batch of the NXT roster is looking to make a name for themselves. NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

* Mandy Rose vs. Ember Moon

Mandy Rose opens the show this week along with the rest of Toxic Attraction, still riding off the momentum they had last week when they beat down the Raquel Gonzalez. Ember Moon comes out full of energy ready for this match. They wrestle each other n the beginning until Mandy slaps her, and Ember fires back with forearm smashes and kicks to the back. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne help Mandy out the ring to help her out, so Ember takes out Jacy with a suicide dive! Ember catches Mandy to counter a hurricanrana into a powerbomb on the apron, and shoves Gigi down. Mandy takes over with a face-first sidewalk slam for a 2-count and beats her down in a corner, then puts her in the body scissors. Ember counters with a 2-count, but Mandy maintains control with an octopus stretch. Ember counters with a hiptoss, hits a discus forearm, step-up enzuigiri, and a diving lungblower. Mandy ducks the Eclipse, hits the running pump knee, and gets the 3-count! WINNER: MANDY ROSE!

Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett show concern to their fellow commentator Beth Phoenix to get comments from her about the actions of Seth Rollins on Friday Night SmackDown. Beth simply replies with "Adam will handle our business."

We get to a video of Legado Del Fantasma, and Santos Escobar talks about Hit Row being drafted to SmackDown. However, Escobar is not done with him because he wants the NXT North American Championship that Swerve still possesses.

* Odyssey Jones vs. LA Knight

The crowd chants Odyssey's name as he backs Knight down and barely flinches from his strikes, then throws him in a corner, squashes him and launches him across the ring with big hiptosses. Knight trips him into the middle turnbuckle and finally gets the upper hand hitting a kneelift in the ropes followed by a jumping elbow drop. Jones pushes him off the cover, gets back to his feet, lands on Knight when he tried to pick him up, strikes Knight down, clothesline, and hits a gutbuster. Andre Chase gets on the apron, Jones knocks him down, Knight hits a jumping neckbreaker, Chase pushes Jones's leg from under the ropes, and the ref counts to three. WINNER: LA KNIGHT!

Cameron Grimes gets interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell and talks about love in the air including the wedding of In-Dex. He also mentions Cora Jade and Tray Baxter making out in the locker room, and says he's jealous, so now he's on the search for a lady. Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland show up and they talk down to Grimes, and Dunne challenges him to a match. Grimes excuses himself to go talk to a couple of blondes. We cut to ringside where the NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa heads to the ring before the break.

When we come back, Kyle O'Reilly approaches Von Wagner in the locker room to ask him why he's had his back twice now. Wagner says he jumped on an opportunity because he doesn't like Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland as well, but he respects O'Reilly. Kyle says he doesn't trust anybody after the past year he's had, and respectfully asks Wagner to let him handle his own business and stay out of his way.

Back to the ring with the NXT Champion! Tommaso Ciampa: "Let's get right to it. On Tuesday night October 26th, Halloween Havoc returns to NXT! And the champ needs an opponent, and I am well aware that this NXT 2.0 roster is full of hungry men and women. One man in particular, he says he's not a patient man. He said he wants to be the flag-bearer of NXT 2.0 and that's all fine and dandy. The thing is, in the world we live in, actions speak louder than words. So the question is, who has the balls to come out here and take my NXT Title from me?" Bron Breakker does not waste time coming to the ring to step to the champ. Bron Breakker: "Tommaso Ciampa, I've treated you with nothing but respect since the day that I walked through the door. But I do not give a damn if I've been here for four minutes, four weeks or four months, I wanna be the NXT Champion! I heard you say you wanna fight somebody with some balls, right? Guess what, I've got the biggest balls in that locker room. The match that I want, that they want, at Halloween Havoc, me and you, for THAT!" Ciampa: "You wanna know the difference between you and me? You want this NXT Title. I need this NXT Title. To Bron Breakker, this title is just a stepping stone to something bigger and better. To Tommaso Ciampa, this title, it IS something bigger. It IS something better. Halloween Havoc is three weeks away, so the way I see it you have three weeks to go from an intern to a PhD. Challenge accepted." Ciampa bumps Breakker on the shoulder on his way out the ring, and Breakker laughs it off but tells him to hug his title tight for the next three weeks.

Joe Gacy is in a dark room talking about the social media platforms crashing, but he sat with his voice of a righteous and inclusive generation where NXT 2.0 won't crash. Tonight he will use the ring as his safe space. "And yes, there can be two winners." Breaktime.

Backstage, Indi Hartwell is with Persia Pirotta talking about her honeymoon last week. Hartwell says Dexter Lumis is away this week (because she wore him out) and they approach a door with smoke coming out of it. Inside is Boa with Mei Ying and he slams the door on them, so they walk off.

* Ikemen Jiro vs. Joe Gacy

Gacy calls for a handshake, Jiro accepts, clean shake, and they start to wrestle. Jiro ducks a clothesline, does an armdrag, hurricanrana, kips up, and Gacy ducks the jacket strike. They're at a stalemate, another handshake, this time Gacy holds on and sends him into a corner for an avalanche splash. Gacy delivers a suplex, smiles at his work while getting jeered, and says they can have a peaceful resolution. Jiro hits a back drop, does a neck twist, hits the jacket strikes three times with a fourth discus-style, cuts him off at the turnbuckles and does a springboard headscissors from the middle ropes. Gacy ducks a running enzuigiri, hits a handspring lariat, and covers for 1-2-3. WINNER: JOE GACY!

Gacy helps Jiro back up to his feet, hugs him, smiles, and steps out the ring applauding his defeated opponent. Gacy looks up at the crowd and sees a man standing up glaring a deathly stare at him, but still he smiles at the mystery man. Breaktime. After the break, we get a video package for Duke Hudson who is also a good poker player and will take all your money.

* Cora Jade vs. Virginia Ferry

Before the match can even begin, Franky Monet pulls Ferry out the ring and slams her into the steel steps and gives her the Glam Slam on the floor! Robert Stone is there as well taunting a fallen Ferry, then tells Cora Jade that she has a new opponent. Monet gets in the ring as the referee makes this official.

* Cora Jade vs. Franky Monet

The bell dings and Franky clotheslines Cora right away and hits a couple of back elbows. Franky sends her into the turnbuckles, hits a meteora in the corner, and Tray Baxter shows up at ringside to support his girl. Cora manages to kick her off, but Franky sits on her for a chinlock and kicks her face into the mat. Cora fights back with a knee, but Franky spears her! Cora counters the Glam Slam with a victory roll for 3! That's considered an upset! WINNER: CORA JADE!

McKenzie Mitchell catches MSK warming up backstage for an interview. MSK are ready for a tough test for their match, but then GYV show up to call them snakes to find some loophole just to pin other opponents. They get cut off and it's agreed to make this title match elimination style so there are no excuses on who gets pinned. The other two teams show up for a brawl and McKenzie runs outta there just in time. Breaktime.

Safely backstage, McKenzie Mitchell is back to interview the NXT Champion about his upcoming challenge at Halloween Havoc. Tommaso Ciampa says Bron Breakker gets to share the ring with a main eventer in three weeks, and then Joe Gacy shows up to tell the champ he put out toxic energy. Gacy would love to be included in the opportunity for the NXT Championship, and Ciampa says if Gacy can beat him next week then he can be added to the title match at Halloween Havoc. "Joe Gacy, I promise you this much, next week in that ring, it ain't a safe space. Not for you."

Raquel Gonzalez was shown storming to the building moments ago.

* Pete Dunne vs. Cameron Grimes

Dunne is accompanied to the ring by Ridge Holland who is being drafted to SmackDown. They trade wrestling maneuvers to start, Dunne does an armbreaker, Grimes catches him with a hurricanrana and tells Dunne to kiss his grits. Grimes catches the technical wrestler with an armdrag, Dunne clotheslines him from the left side stomps on his left arm and shoulder, and goes to work on the arms. Dunne dropkicks him in , Grimes later ducks the gamengiri, comes back with flying forearms, flying boot in a corner, lands a flying crossbody from the top rope and gets a 2-count. Dunne blocks a German suplex, hits the gamengiri, kneedrop to the left arm, snap German suplex, stomps on his hands, kick to the head, covers for a near-fall and goes for the armbar. Grimes counters, backflips into a dead-lift German suplex, and bridges for a 2-count! Ridge Holland looks on from ringside as Grimes tries to keep fighting back, but Dunne hits an enzuigiri, and just as Holland is pulling Grimes out the ring to swing at him, Kyle O'Reilly attacks Holland! Dunne goes out to throw O'Reilly over the announce table, and Grimes kicks Dunne in the face, brings him back in the ring, Dunne blocks the Cave-In, and hits The Bitter End for 3! WINNER: PETE DUNNE!

Kyle O'Reilly attacks Dunne and Holland post-match but he can't take on both men. Dunne kicks him in the head as Holland powerslams him down. Breaktime.

When we come back, Hit Row is in the studio laughing it up about being drafted to SmackDown. They also laugh at Legado Del Fantasma claiming that they're running away, but SmackDown is the ones who chose Hit Row.

During the break, Von Wagner was back to help Kyle O'Reily to his feet proving that he really is there to help him.

* Malik Blade vs. Tony D'Angelo

D'Angelo is making his NXT 2.0 debut here. D'Angelo puts him in a side headlock, Blade rolls him up for 1, D'Angelo hits a shoulder block, back to the headlock, counters the leapfrog with a backbreaker, punches him after getting a boot to the face, and he's talking trash the entire time. Blade fights back, dropkicks him, D'Angelo does a double-leg takedown, covers for 2, waistlock, kicks his face into the turnbuckles, and puts him in an abdominal stretch. Blade comes back with a spinning heel kick, a clothesline in a corner, flying crossbody, covers for 2, and rolls him up for 2. D'Angelo hits a belly-to-belly suplex, northern lights suplex, floats over into a spinning fishermann's suplex and gets the 3-count. WINNER: TONY D'ANGELO!

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams get interviewed backstage about their thoughts on the title match. They're ready for the match and they're "bout it bout it!" That will be the main event. Tian Sha come out next as Mei Ying will be in action next.

* Mei Ying vs. Indi Hartwell

Boa came to the ring with Mei Ying, and Persia Pirotta is here for Hartwell. Indi goes for a takedown but Mei Ying throws her off, Ying also throws her down and does an axe kick to the sternum. Hartwell goes for shoulder blocks that doesn't do much, Ying smacks/chops her on the chest, and puts on the nerve hold to the shoulders. Ying grabs her by the throat, they fall out the ring, Ying still has throat hold on, shoves her into the ringpost, then Persia pushes her friend out the way and takes the big boot from Ying! Hartwell shoves Ying into the ringpost, puts her back in the ring, hits the springboard elbow drop to the back, and covers for 3! WINNER: INDI HARTWELL!

Ying sits back up in the ring as Hartwell puts her wedding ring back on. We go to Lash Legend who promises to dish more tea on her show Lashin' Out next week. Tony D'Angelo shows up and requests for her to have him on as her guest. She claims her show was so hot last week that she's the one who shut down Instagram. OK then.

Out comes the NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez before a commercial break. When we come back Malcolm Bivens tells about his group Diamond Mine and introduces each individual member. Hachiman the coach from Japan has won many championships in his time in the ring. Ivy Nile the powerhouse has competed in Titan Games and is also skilled in mixed martial arts and a fitness competition veteran. Julius and Brutus, The Creed Brothers, are talented amateur wrestlers and national champions. Last but not least, the NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Roderick Strong is the centerpiece and main star of the group, and his accommplishments are a long list including for NXT North American Champion and NXT Tag Team Champion.

Samantha Irvin is in the ring to interview Raquel Gonzalez and congratulates her first on retaining her NXT Women's Championship last week. Raquel receives the message that Mandy Rose wants to come after her next, no matter if she dies her hair or not. Raquel says she's dominated the women's division for close to a year, and threatens her if she touches her title again. Toxic Attraction make their entrance, and Mandy says she used to admire Raquel on her strength and tenacity. Mandy says the champ's threats simply fall at their feet. Gigi Dolin chimes in to say that Mandy is championship material, including the two of them. Raquel jokes about hitting Dolin in the head with the title last week, and Jacy Jayne adds that they are the faces of NXT 2.0, and they will soon be holding all the gold in the division. Toxic Attraction surround the champ in the ring looking to have some fun with her, and the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Io Shirai and Zoey Stark get in the ring to even the numbers! It's the champs who stand in the ring as Toxic Attraction back off.

Kyle O'Reilly is icing his shoulder in the locker room, and Von Wagner walks in to tell Kyle that they're in a tag team match against Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland next week whether he likes it or not.

After the break, Raquel Gonzalez tells Zoey Stark and Io Shirai, "Thanks, but I didn't ask for your help." Shirai says she doesn't like them either, and Stark reminds them that they are the champs of the women's division. Hartwell and Pirotta show up to remind them that Toxic Attraction aren't the only ones challenging for gold, but Shirai tells them that the only gold they will hold are on their hands and ears.

Its official for Halloween Havoc where Tommaso Ciampa defends his NXT Title against Bron Breakker. Next week, Ciampa faces Joe Gacy, and if Gacy wins then he will be added to the NXT Championship match. Also next week, it will be Dunne and Holland against O'Reilly and Wagner. Also also, the NXT North American Championship is on the line as Santos Escobar challenges Swerve for his title.

* NXT Tag Team Championship - 4-Way Elimination Match: Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen vs. Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. MSK {C}

Wade Barrett asks exactly what I have been thinking before this match takes place. Why are Briggs and Jensen in this match when they haven't done much of anything except for having a bar fight with each other? Trick Williams is a good talker but hasn't even had a match yet in NXT. What makes these two teams even worthy of having a title match after not proving anything yet? Anyway, not that that's out of the way, it's time for the main event!

Wes Lee of MSK and Zack Gibson of GYV start the match, they go back and forth, quick pin covers, Nash Carter tags in, and MSK double team Gibson, then Carter does a springboard armdrag. Hayes tags himself in, kicks Carter in the head, hits a springboard clothesline, Williams tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle, Williams covers for 1, and Jensen tags himself in. Williams slaps Jenson, but Jensen srikes back, and Williams hits a jumping clothesline. Hayes gets the tag, hits a pump kick, Jensen with an inverted atomic drop, Briggs tags in, and they hit a double shoulder tackle. Williams tags back in, they boot him in the face, Jensen brings GYV into the ring to beat them up, and Briggs tags in Wes Lee for him to hit a somersault plancha onto Williams and Melo! Lee brings Williams back into the ring, tags in Carter, they hit their springboard blockbuster/spinebuster combo, and that scores a 3-count! Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are eliminated!

We come back from a commercial break and Lee is in the ring with Gibson. Lee reaches for the tag but Gibson hits a short-arm clothesline to stop him and tags in James Drake. Gibson dropkicks Lee in the back as Drake hits a flatline, they get a 2-count, Gibson tags back in and they hit a double clothesline for 2. Lee fights them off and makes the hot tag to Carter, and Carter knocks down both of GYV. Carter delivers a German suplex to Drake, hits a high knee, hits the penalty kick, running shooting star press, Gibson saves his partner, so Carter hits a diving moonsault to them outside the ring! Gibson holds Carter down, Drake makes the tag, they hit Ticket to Mayhem, Gibson covers Carter for... nothing, because Briggs tagged himself in so HE is the legal competitor! Briggs shoves Drake out the ring, Gibson slowly gets to his feet realizing what awaits him, Jensen clocks Gibson with a big punch, they hit a combo choke slam/powerbomb, and that's the 1-2-3! The Grizzled Young Veterans are eliminated!

Wes Lee goes at it alone while Nash Carter recovers, he strike with punches and kicks, dropkicks him, Jensen hits a back elbow, Briggs tags in, hits a big boot into a Russian legsweep, Briggs covers, and Lee kicks out at 2.5! Jensen tags back in, double team CHOKE SLAM, and they go for their finish again, but Carter saves Lee from disaster tackling Briggs out the ring. Lee counters the powerbomb with a hurricanrana pin cover, and gets the 3-count! WINNERS and STILL NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: MSK!!

Jensen and Briggs snatch the titles from the referee, clearly upset about losing the match, but they respetcfully hand over the championships to the retaining champs. IMPERIUM attack MSK from behind! Fabian Aichner plants Carter with a spinebuster and Marcel Barthel kicks him in the chest, then they lay Lee out over him. Jensen and Briggs get back into the ring to stop the attack, MSK get back to their feet, and the champs shout back at Imperium to end the show.
