NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for October 12, 2021 at 8 PM ET! Tommaso Ciampa faces Joe Gacy, and if Gacy wins then he will be added to the NXT Championship match at Halloween Havoc. Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland will go against Kyle O'Reilly and Von Wagner. Also, the NXT North American Championship is on the line as Santos Escobar challenges Swerve for his title! NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

Earlier today Hit Row were entering the building except Ashante "Thee" Adonis was missing. Suddenly a black SUV pulls up behind them and Legado Del Fantasma start attacking Hit Row. Santos Escobar slammed Swerve into a steel fence while the rest of Legado pulled Top Dolla and B-Fab into the SUV and sped off!

* Joe Gacy vs. Tommaso Ciampa {NXT Champion}
  [non-title match]

Gacy blabs off about being in a safe space in the ring claiming to represent all of his "snowflakes" to bring inclusivity to NXT 2.0. If Gacy can win, he will be included in the NXT Championship match at Halloween Havoc in two weeks. Ciampa heads to the ring and he's all business clutching his title. The match starts and Ciampa is not playing, but Gacy manages to hit a shoulder block and put him in a chinlock. That doesn't last long as Ciampa counters and puts him in an armbar, but then Gacy hits a backbreaker for a 1-count. Gacy looks on into the crowd and sees the ominous mystery man sitting there staring a hole in him. Ciampa stomps him down in a corner, hits the running knee to the jaw, Gacy begs off, rolls out the ring, Ciampa kicks him off, they fight over the announce table, Ciampa avoids a dropkick, beats him up a little, drop toehold, then clubs him over the nose before applying a rear chinlock. The mystery man is still staring at Gacy as he fights back against the champ and hits a running senton on the apron before our first commercial break.

We get picture-in-picture again for this match, Gacy takes control of the match keeping the champ down and putting him in an abdominal stretch. Ciampa counters with a hiptoss but Gacy knocks him back down and covers for 1. Ciampa avoids a running senton, fights back, throws him into the barricade and pats himself on the back.

When we come back, Ciampa throws him back into the ring, clotheslines him in a cornera few times, hits a flying clothesline, Gacy counters the air raid crash with a roll-up for 2, , they trade shots, Ciampa hits a jumping knee, Gacy powerbombs him for a near-fall, and Ciampa rolls away from a middle-rope mdivig moonsault. Ciampa goes for the Fairytale Ending, Gacy counters with a jackknife pin for 2, Ciampa counters the handspring with a basement dropkick, hits the Fairytale Ending, covers and gets the 3-count! WINNER: TOMMASO CIAMPA!

Sorry Gacy, it's not your time yet. That big man attacks Ciampa at ringside! He grabs Gacy by the chin, but Gacy caresses his face and the guy runs off. Gacy checks on the champ, but Ciampa shoves him away wanting nothing to do with him.

Toxic Attraction head to the ring but they're not dressed to compete. Gigi Dolin says they wanted to put an end to NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez, but the Women's Tag Team Champions Io Shirai and Zoey Stark interrupted them. Jacy Jayne adds that they don't care about the rules and will do whatever they want whenever they want. What they want is the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships at Halloweek Havoc. Mandy Rose adds that she's challenging Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women's Championship. Toxic Attraction all plan to wear gold by the end of the night in two weeks. "Brown, blue, black, green, yellow, purple - it don't matter what hair color I have. I'm still the baddest bitch in the game." Xyon Quinn heads to the ring for a match before the commercial break. When we come back we get a video package of someone looking to bury the past to start again at Halloween Havoc.

* Xyon Quinn vs. Malik Blade

Quinn makes short work of his opponent with a big body slam, hard right punch, hammer throw to a corner and puts him in a chinlock. Blade has a slight comeback with a dropkick, clothesline in a corner, hits a top rope missile dropkick for a 2-count, and rolls him up for 2. Quinn drops him with a spinebuster, hits the running forearm smash, and covers for 3. WINNER: XYON QUINN!

McKenzie Mitchell interviews the NXT Champion for his thoughts on his win tonight. Ciampa says he doesn't know what went down post-match, but it doesn't matter because his match is locked in at Halloween Havoc. GYV show up to mock him and they can't wait to watch him lose to a rookie. Bron Breakker pops up to defend himself and challenges the team to a fight, which they decline. Breakker tells Ciampa that he'll have his back until Halloween Havoc because he wants to beat him at his best. Breaktime.

Swerve gets interviewed after the break and a commercial for WWE Crown Jewel next Thursday. He cuts her off about what happened to his crew and he says Escobar's plan to make him mad worked. "I'm taking this North American Championship with me to SmackDown, and there's not a damn thing Santos gonna be able to do about it."

* Ivy Nile vs. Valentina Feroz

This is Ivy Nile's first match in NXT since her arrival, and she shows off her technical wrestling skills. Valentina does an armdrag, dropkicks her, but then Ivy catches her from a crossbody and transitions to a standing vertical suplex. Hachiman is cheering on Ivy as she kips up, as is the rest of Diamond Mine at ringside, and she throws Feroz around the ring. Ivy body slams her, picks her up in the torture rack, squats, and Feroz taps. WINNER: IVY NILE!

Malcolm Bivens takes the mic and calls that a message to every single woman in NXT. "Ivy Nile has arrived and she didn't come to play." Bivens bigs up the rest of the stable saving the Cruiserweight Champion for last. Roderick Strong starts speaking but he's but off by Ikemen Jiro who wants a shot at the title. The rest of Diamond Mine leave the ring except for Julius Creed who talks down to Jiro. "What do you wanna do about it?" Jiro with a straight jacket strike to the face! Breaktime.

* Julius Creed vs. Ikemen Jiro

The match got underway during the break and Jiro twists his neck. Creed tackles him in the knee, delivers a waistlock suplex, powerslams him, a gutwrench suplex, and a facelock suplex. Jiro tries to fight back, avoids an elbow drop, hites forearm smashes, jacket thrusts, and hits a discus jacket strike! Creed runs into his boots, Jiro does a handstand on the turnbuckles clapping his feet into a falling splash, connects with an Asai moonsault, and brings him back into the ring. Julius catches him in mid-air, into a cartwheel powerslam, followed by a low lariat for 3. WINNER: JULIUS CREED!

All of Diamond Mine beat down Ikemen Jiro in the middle of the ring until Kushida makes the save! Kushida dumps a couple out the ring, fights them off, holds back when Ivy Nile steps in his face, and that allows Diamond Mine to make the jump on Kushida. Even Ivy Nile starts stomping on him with the rest. Roderick Strong hits the End of Heartache to finish the beatdown. It should be noted that neither Hachiman or Malcolm Bivens got physical, but they stand with the crew in the end.

Raquel Gonzalez talks about being NXT Women's Champion, knowing that all women are targetting her. "Making history comes with a price, and at Halloweek Havoc it's on, but I'm upping the stakes. Let's see how tough you really are chiquita. Let's spin the wheel and make the deal."

* Lashing Out with Lash Legend

It's time for another episode of Lashing Out. Lash Legend talks about the WWE draft and claims that next year will be called WWE Squid Games. She calls Hit Row legends of the week because they're getting drafted to SmackDown. Then she basically dismisses newcomer Tony D'Angelo from being on her show. (This "show" is more annoying than entertaining.)

* Kyle O'Reilly & Von Wagner vs. Pete Dunne & Ridge Holland

Dunne strikes fast and early, but Wagner having a bigger stature just overpowers him. Dunne jumps on him for a Kimura Lock, but again Wagner counters to a standing suplex followed by a jumping headbutt for a 2-count. Dunne kicks him in the arm, O'Reilly tags himself in, knee to the midsection, Holland gets the tag, O'Reilly fights him off, Holland blocks a single leg and hits a kneedrop to the back of the head. O'Reilly comes bck with an armbreaker, Holland delivers an overhead belly-to-belly suplex, Dunne tags in and works into a surfboard stretch. Holland tags in hits a couple of uppercuts and wears him down, and also hits a short-arm clothesline. Dunne tags back in, chea shot to Wagner, O'Reilly does dragon screws to both men, strike combo and legsweep, forearm smash in a corner, and both men hit armbreakers on each other trading strikes. Holland and Wagner tag in, they hit shoulder blocks and punches to a stalemate, more shoulder blocks, and Wagner knocks him down with a flying shoulder tackle. Holland pulls him out the ring, clobbers him in the jaw, Wagner sends him into the steel steps, and we take a commercial break.

When we come back, Holland has O'Reilly in a nerve hold, O'Reilly puts him in the guilotine, Holland makes the tag, Dunne pries O'Reilly off, Holland delivers a spinebuster, and Dunne dropkicks him in the back. Wagner breaks the count, throws Holland out the ring, Dunne hits him with a step-up enzuigiri, O'Reilly knees him in the chest, and crawls to make the tag but no one is there. Dunne stomps on his fingers, O'Reilly counters a kick with the ankle lock, Holland tags in and clotheslines him followed by elbow strikes then throws him out the ring. Wagner hits Dunne with a shoulder tackle that knocks Holland down, O'Reilly crawls again, and makes the hot tag! Wagner takes Holland down with a jumping knee, delivers the Olympic Slam, Dunne gets beat up, Wagner tells O'Really to finish Dunne and he takes him out with a flying knee. Wagner counters a powerslam and hits Holland with a twisting double underhook slam for 1-2-3! WINNERS: KYLE O'REILLY & VON WAGNER!

We're back for another lesson in Chase University, and this week it's about ring awareness. He talks about Odyssey Jones putting his foot under the ropes instead of on the rope, but what's really going on is Andre Chase moves his foot to prevent him from winning. One of his students called it a disqualification, so Chase kicks him out of the class. Breaktime.

After the break, Tony D'Angelo is proud about his debut, then complains about not being on Lasing Out With Lash Legend. He walks off and the producer of Lash's show is locked in the trunk.

* Duke Hudson vs. Grayson Waller

Hudson is bigger, Waller is quicker, that's the tale here. Hudson blocks a takedown, Waller gives him an armdrag, Hudson does an overhead belly-to-belly throw, and takes control. Waller fights out of a waistlock, fights back, hits a rolling stunner, rolls him up, and gets a 2-count. Hudson kicks the ropes to knock him down, makes the cover, and holds the tights to secure the 3-count. WINNER: DUKE HUDSON!

Legado Del Fantasma are laughing about what happened to Hit Row today. Santos Escobar claims that his familia will remain in the locker room so it can be one-on-one, mano y mano. "So like I said, buenos suerte caballero." Indi Hartwell kisses Dexter Lumis before her match. After commercials, we get a video package fro Imperium talking bad about MSK as the NXT Tag Team Champions.

* Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta vs. Sarray & Amari Miller

Persia powers Sarray onto her shoulders, tags Indi in, splashes her in a corner, Indi hits a sidewalk slam, gets a 1-count, and clotheslines her in a corner. Sarray is able to tag out, Amari kicks Hartwell down, covers for 1, Indi escapes an armbar, backs Miller into a corner, and throws her off. Persia clotheslines Amari three times, drops her on the turnbuckle and hits a big boot. Indi tags back in, Persian hits a sit-out facebuster, Indi hits a springboard elbow drop to the back, and gets the 3-count. WINNERS: INDI HARTWELL & PERSIA PIROTTA!

Persia and Indi want the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles, but that brings out the champs Io Shirai and Zoey Stark to the ring. Io: "I don't like you. I don't like you. And I..." Zoey: "Whoa whoa whoa, I already know what you're gonna say. You don't like me either." Io: "No, don't speak for me." Zoey: "OK Io, do you suddenly like me then?" Io: "NO!" Toxic Attraction come down now to mock the champs, and all they want are the tag titles. All six women start brawling in the ring, Shirai gives Gigi Dolin a German suplex, and Zoey Stark superkicks Jacy Jayne. The champs stand tall at the end.

Backstage, Grayson Waller tries to say hi to Cora Jade but she walks past him, and he sits down next to another woman who gets mad at him. He tells her to get ready while he goes for a shower. Cameron Grimes shows up and he's curious how he got lucky. Waller shows him an online dating app on how to meet women. After commercials, we get a video package for a new Samoan wrestler named Solo Sikoa.

Next week on NXT 2.0, Andre Chase goes one-on-one with Odyssey Jones, and GYV take on Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa.

* NXT North American Championship: Isaiah "Swerve" Scott {C} vs. Santos Escobar

Escobar sends Legado to the back, and Swerve jumps him on the entranceway! Swerve is completely pissed off as he throws him into the steel steps! Back in the ring, the referee calls for the bell, Escobar rolls out the ring, and Swerve hits the Fosbury Flop and sends him into the steps again! The champ rips off a turnbuckle pad, kicks him in the face, hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for 1, and hits a kneedrop for 2. Escobar blocks the JML Driver, counters with an armdrag, trips him on the apron, and hits the torpedo suicide dive sending him over the announce table before our final break.

We get picture-in-picture for this important match. Escobar sends Swerve into the steps now, brings him back into the ring, starts punching him in the back before applying a chinlock, then locks in the Boston Crab until he reaches the rope to break the hold. Escobar hits a big shoulder thrust to his back in a corner to end the PIP.

When we come back full-screen, Santos put him in a surfboard stretch, plants him with a spinebucker, kicks him in the back, and goes back to the surfboard stretch. Swerve fights back as they trade punches and chops, he hits a big clothesline, diving uppercut to the back, but rolls into a flatliner and kicks out at 2.5! Escobar hits double knees to the chest, sets him up on the top, gives him a top rope hurricanrana, goes back up, connects with the frog splash and covers for a near-fall! We get word that the six women will compete in a triple threat tag team title match at Halloween Havoc.

Escobar gets on the top turnbuckle, Swerve trips him up, then hits a death valley driver onto the apron, goes for the 450 Splash, Escobar gets the knees up and covers for a near-fall! Escobar can't believe it, and Legado Del Fantasma show up on the apron. Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes pull them off the apron and they start fighting with Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza at ringside. Meanwhile, Escobar hits Swerve with a running knee, Swerve blocks the Phantom Driver, drops him onto the exposed turnbuckle, hits the JML Driver, and gets the victory! WINNER and STILL NXT North American Champion: ISAIAH "SWERVE" SCOTT!

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes slide into the ring to celebrate with Swerve. Does this mean that Swerve will take the North American Title to SmackDown? Carmelo raises Swerve's hand in victory, then CLOTHESLINES HIM! Trick has Carmelo's title contract!! Hayes signs the Breakout Tournament contract, hands it to the referee, and he's going for his championship opportunity for the title!

* NXT North American Championship: Isaiah "Swerve" Scott {C} vs. Carmelo Hayes

The bell dings, Hayes hits the springboard clothesline, covers, 1-2-NO! Trick is shocked! Hayes is shocked! Swerve punches him with a haymaker, Hayes hits a pump kick, gets to the top rope, hits the diving axe kick to the back of the neck, and covers for 3! WINNER and NEW NXT NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: CARMELO HAYES!!

Melo don't miss, and he did not miss this opportunity after calling his shot to become the new NXT North American Champion!
