NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for November 2, 2021 at 8 PM ET! After last week's big Halloween Havoc show, we enter a new week with new champions. Mandy Rose and the rest of Toxic Attraction are all champions in the women's division. Imperium have regained their status as the top tag team in NXT by winning the NXT Tag Team Titles. Fortunately for Tommaso Ciampa, he still has possession of Goldie, his NXT Championship. What's next for the superstars of NXT 2.0? NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

The new NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose opens the show to gloat about her victory over Raquel Gonzalez last week at Halloween Havoc to win the title. Mandy is super arrogant about becoming the new champion along with her stablemates in Toxic Attraction, also winning the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships. Mandy asks where the other members are, and we see Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne beating up and injuring Zoey Stark. Mandy challenges anybody who thinks differently than her to step up.

Here comes Io Shirai, and she saw what Toxic Attraction did! "I want the leader of Toxic Attraction. I want you right here, right now!" Io is ready to fight! Mandy reminds her that she is not scared of her, calls for a referee, and sucker-punches Io with the microphone. Mandy shouts at Io that she's not scared of her as she beats her down at ringside by the announce table, and throws her back into the ring. "Ohhh, Io honey, this ain't the old NXT honey. This is NXT 2.0, and you will never look like me!" Io Shirai fights back, delivers a German suplex, and hits the meteora in a corner. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne save Mandy, but Io makes quick work of them, but then she gets ganged up on. Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro make the save and they send Toxic Attraction packing!

Good start to NXT to establish who the champions are in the women's division and setting up their next challengers. We recap a few scenes from last week's Halloween Havoc with still pictures. Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix welcome us to the show and inform us of tonight's main event - Johnny Gargano & Dexter Lumis vs. Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes. Toxic Attraction complain about what happened until they approach Dakota Kai backstage. Dakota reminds them that she didn't intentionally help them, because all she wanted to do was end Raquel Gonzalez. Dakota is in action next!

After the first commercial break, we cut to Duke's Poker Room where Duke Hudson wins a hand again. Cameron Grimes shows up mocking him and tells him to just hand him all of his money planning to win it all. Grimes wants to play, and this will continue.

* Dakota Kai vs. Cora Jade

Dakota charges with a clothesline at the bell and takes control early on. Cora is scrappy enough to fight back, but Dakota grounds her with a modified chinlock. Cora escapes, clotheslines her back, does a hurricanrana, high knee, snapmare, 2-count, and an Oklahoma roll for 2. Dakota counters her with a back drop, Cora surprises her with a rollup for 2, but Dakota hits the scorpion kick and this is her opening to hit the rounding big boot for the win. WINNER: DAKOTA KAI!

Dakota attacks Cora and drags her around the ringside area by her hair and continues the post-match beatdown. She brings a table out from under the ring, lays it across Cora's face, gets on the apron, thinks about it... and just gets down. Never mind, she takes Cora's skateboard and lays it across her belly before walking away.

We get a breakdown of why we have a tag match with Legado Del Fantasma vs. Von Wagner and Kyle O'Reilly, and we also get a clip of Robert Stone complaining about being put through a table last week, all before a commercial break.

When we come back we get a video of MSK sitting outside disappointed that they lost the NXT Tag Team Titles last week. They talking start talking about the story of the name MSK, and as a bus stops by we don't hear a damn thing, and as the bus takes off the story ends. So we STILL don't understand the name of their story. Actually, that was their bus they were waiting for, so they decide to walk.

Robert Stone has Xyon Quinn in the ring to tell him that he's jealous of him. They wants to prove that he's better then him first by singing, stomping and winning. Stone starts dancing making himself look really cringe-worthy, he thinks he was awesome but the crowd tells him he sucks, and he thinks they loved it. Quinn called it interesting, but he only came out here to kick his ass. Stone starts baiting and taunting him, so Quinn takes his turn to dance to HBK's theme song. This is awful all around. Finally Stone slaps him, the crowd knows he messed up, so this got serious real quick.

* Robert Stone vs. Xyon Quinn

Quinn tosses him around high in the ring, hits a running back elbow in the corner, does a spinning Samoan drop, and a stalling brainbuster for the 3-count. WINNER: XYON QUINN!

Cut to Joe Gacy in a dark room talking about people and social media full of negative energy. He shifts attention to the big man Harland, and says they will change the world together.

Elektra Lopez comments on Xyon Quinn's performance before leading Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza to the ring. Breaktime.

* Legado Del Fantasma vs. Von Wagner & Kyle O'Reilly

O'Reilly and Wilde start the match and wrestle back and forth, Mendoza tags in and tries to roll him up, O'Reilly goes for a cross armbreaker, but Mendoza reaches the ropes. Wagner tags in for a couple of mat slams, overpowers him, Mendoza moves faster, but Wagner catches him for a fallaway slam. Wagner tags out, leapfrogs over O'Reilly for double-team, and O'Reilly takes over with a running kneedrop and puts Mendoza in the headlock. Wagner gets the tag, headbutts him down, Mendoza dropkicks him in the back, Wagner crashes with O'Reilly, Wilde tags in, but Wagner takes them both out and suplexes them both! Wagner is on a roll as we take a commercial break.

O'Reilly gets the tag during picture-in-picture and puts Wilde in a seated abdominal stretch, and even rolls him up for 2. Wagner tags back in, delivers a gutwrench suplex, Wilde lowers the ropes on him, and shoves him into the edge of the ring. Mendoza tags in, hits a basement dropkick for a 2-count, Wilde is back in, double spinebuster, double basement dropkick, and that only scores a 2-count. Elektra Lopez looks on as Wilde puts Wagner in a rear chinlock and keeps him down for the remainder of the break.

When we come back, Wagner gets to his feet, he kicks Wilde off, and both sides make the hot tag. O'Reilly strikes Mendoza with several kicks to the leg and body, legsweep, kicks his knee, but Lopez gets on the apron to distract him, and Mendoza hits a jumping knee to the back. Mendoza clotheslines O'Reilly in the corner, Wilde tags in to clothesline him in the corner, Mendoza tags in, clothesline, wilde tags in, clothesline, Mendoza tags in, head kick, tags out, suplexes O'Reilly, dropkicks Wagner off the apron, and Wilde hits a somersault onto O'Reilly getting a near-fall! O'Reilly fights them both, Wilde grabs his leg to prevent the tag, but Wagner still receives the hot tag and takes them down with several attacks, and gets a 2-count on Wilde after a shoulder tackle. Wilde punches him on the noggin, Wagner hits the Angle Slam, O'Reilly tags in, running kick, covers, Mendoza breaks the count, and O'Reilly throws him out the ring. Wagner tags in, Mendoza springboard dropkicks O'Reilly out the ring, Wilde rolls Wagner up in the schoolboy and pins him for 3! WINNERS: LEGADO DEL FANTASMA!

Backstage we get an interview with Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. They talk about tonight's tag match, Andre Chase shows up willing to help them tonight after they helped him in the haunted house, they walk off, Chase is asked about being called a coward in the haunted house, and he storms off shouting about being disrespected. Breaktime.

We go back to Duke's Poker Room where Cameron Grimes wins another hand. Duke gets mad at Cameron's "beginner's luck" and wants to keep playing. Everybody else who was playing keeps losing until it's down to Hudson and Grimes. Hudson tells him that he has no shot with the women there, and this will continue.

Andre Chase is in the ring with his Chase U section cheering him on. Chase's microphone doesn't work, so he throws it down by the announce table, so he gets another one. Chase complains about people on social media calling him a coward after running away in the haunted house, so he takes this as a teachable moment. "So if there's anybody in the back that wants a Ph.D. in getting their ass kicked, then come on down to this ring right now and get your degree!" Challenge answered by Bron Breakker!

* Andre Chase vs. Bron Breakker

Breakker doesn't play with an immediate overhead belly-to-belly suplex and clotheslines him out the ring. Breakker follows him around the ring, clotheslines him on the floor, brings him back in, Chase boots him in the face, starts to fight back, and knees him in the face while applying the cravate. Breakker hits a shoulder tackle, clothesline, belly-to-belly suplex, military press powerslam, and covers for 3. WINNER: BRON BREAKKER!

Breakker takes the mic, says he failed in the biggest match of his career, wasn't able to win the NXT Championship, but ultimately calls Tommaso Ciampa the man in NXT. "BUT, there's nothing that pisses me off more than losing! Tommaso, did you think me and you are done? You're wrong, because I'm gonna get another shot at that title and I will beat you for the NXT Championship, or I will die trying!!"

We get comments from the new NXT Tag Team Champions and Imperium are now 2-time champs, one of few in NXT history. They say they are diverse in their skills, and they're cut off by the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions. They say they have a 6-woman tag team match next week, and they tell Imperium they should watch them. "The mat is sacred, but America has its benefits." Breaktime with a commercial for WrestleMania 38 live in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3, and tickets are on sale November 12.

We come back for Lashing Out with Lash Legend. Honestly, I have no interest in recapping this. She brings out her guest Tony D'Angelo, and she confronts him about making her producer disappear, but her producer Mark is here in studio. D'Angelo tells Mark to say hi to his wife Lori, and his two kids Georgie and Baker. This takes a dark turn as D'Angelo makes him tell Lash that nothing happened, and he calls out many names in NXT. Lash starts speaking again, but D'Angelo cuts her off and slides her some money to shut her up. This is just terrible.

* Solo Sikoa vs. Jeet Rama

Both men are making their debut match tonight, but let's face it - Sikoa is the focus of this match. Sikoa shows his Samoan heritage early on with uppercuts, body attack in a corner, and hits the big running hip attack just like his father Rikishi and his brothers The Usos. Solo Sikoa kicks him in the head, goes up top, hits the big Samoan splash, and covers for 3. WINNER: SOLO SIKOA!

Boa will be in action next, and LA Knight is joining commentary before the break. When we come back, we get a video of Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen giving us a split back story.

* Boa vs. Grayson Waller

Waller pins his shoulders to the mat a few times for 2-counts, Knight is complaining about Waller, Boa kicks Waller in the back and stomps him off the ropes. Boa puts him in a straitjacket chinlock, Waller fights back, clotheslines him, crescent kick, knee strikes in a cravate, and hits a hard elbow. Waller gets on the ropes, LA Knight leaves commentary to yell at him, Boa kicks the ropes, then kicks him in the head and covers for 3. WINNER: BOA!

We get the conclusion of Duke's Poker Room, everybody is standing watching the two, Hudson tells Grimes to give up, and he lays out his card. Hudson throws some chips in, Grimes calls, Hudson talks cocky and puts all his chips in. Grimes calls, puts all of HIS chips in, and reveals a full house winning the game! Hudson had Aces, but Grimes wins with 2's, meaning Grimes goes "TO THE MOON!" The whole crowd leaves with Grimes as Hudson flips the table in anger. Breaktime.

We get a video for Kay Lee Ray, and she debuts next week. Boa heads back to Mei Ying, but she's no longer in her chair, and he now has face paint.

Tommaso Ciampa heads to the ring hugging Goldie the NXT Championship. "Halloween Havoc was a changing of the guard here in NXT. I love you guys, I do. There was a shift in NXT - Imperium, new NXT Tag Team Champions; Mandy Rose, new NXT Women's Champion; Toxic Attraction, new NXT Women's Tag Team Champions. Bron Breakker was supposed to become the new NXT Champion, only problem is nobody told Tommaso Ciampa! Bron Breakker earned my respect last week. At the end of the night one thing was certain, Tommaso Ciampa is the GOD of NXT. With this comes great responsibility, a target on my back. Hell, with that said, this is usually the time..." And right on cue, Ciampa is interrupted.

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes head to the ring to dispute what Ciampa said. Hayes says he's the one who needs to put Ciampa in check, because now it's about the new school and calls himself the leader of it. "I want you to take this with the most disrespect. As long as I'm on this show with this title, you gon' take a back seat to me. Because Tommaso, I am the A champion of NXT, and that's all it is, and that's all it's gon' be." Ciampa acknowledges the "Ciampa's gonna kill you" chants, and tells Hayes that he doesn't believe his own words then throws out a challenge. "If you're feeling froggy, jump." Williams steps in between to remind Hayes that they are the main event tonight. Ciampa sucker punches Williams to shut him up, and gets in Carmelo's face about it too before walking off. Interesting, Ciampa is about to cross paths with Johnny Gargano! Reading Gargano's lips: "It's been a long time." The main event is next!

* Carmelo Hayes {North American Champion} & Trick Williams vs. Johnny Gargano & Dexter Lumis

Williams and Lumis start the match, Williams is all trash-talk, Lumis doesn't even budge and just stares at him, so Williams tags out. Hayes steps in, changes his mind, touches Williams on the chest, and the referee counts that as a tag as Lumis slithers over to them and follows Hayes. Williams stomps on Lumis's back to get things started, Lumis hits a Thesz Press with punches, Gargano tags in, hits the axe handle to the arm, Lumis tags in and just uppercuts Williams. Hayes gets the tag, Lumis grabs Hayes's foot, hobbles him to his corner, Gargano tags in, and now we get serious. Gargano and Hayes wrestle and counter each other, and Gargano hits the slingshot spear! Gargano chops him on the chest, Lumis tags in, Williams gets in the ring to save him, but they both get hiptossed, and dropkicked. Lumis and Gargano slither toward them and give each othera thumbs up before our final commercial break.

Lumis chases after them during picture-in-picture and attacks him from behind, while Gargano cuts Williams off at the pass Lumis body slams Hayes in the ring, gets a 1-count, throws him into Gargano's boots, Gargano tags in, Williams with a cheap shot, and Hayes hits a springboard clothesline. Williams and Hayes tag in and out with minor attacks here and there, nothing noteworthy.

When we come back, they send Gargano into a corner, but the NXT veteran escapes them. Williams prevents the tag, Gargano hits the enzuigiri, and Hayes pulls Dexter off the apron to also prevent the tag. Williams uppercuts him, hits a flying clothesline, Hayes tags in, double shoulder tackle, and Williams assists him with a springboard legdrop. Hayes gets a 2-count and they beat him down some more, but eventually Gargano makes the hot tag as Hayes gets tagged in.

Lumis uppercuts Hayes, clothesline in a corner, bulldog, throws Williams out the ring, back suplex to Hayes, then kips up into a jumping legdrop. Lumis hits the rebound suplex, covers for 2, Hayes escapes a suplex and tags out, then Williams kicks Lumis and he tags out. Gargano ducks consecutive kicks, superkicks him, makes Hayes kick Williams, tags Lumis in, Gargano puts a black glove on, and they uppercut and superkick them! Lumis hits a diving elbow drop, Hayes breaks up the count, and both Lumis and Williams tag out.

Hayes and Gargano step in, trade forearm smashes and chops, Hayes with a throat thrust, Gargano with rapid strikes, Hayes with several kick, Gargano with a clothesline, both men are down, Lumis tags in, Urinagi slam, and locks in the Silence! Williams smacks Lumis in the back of the head with a shoe, Gargano wipes him out with a suicide dive, but Hayes hits Lumis with the diving axe kick to the back of the head and covers for 3! WINNERS: CARMELO HAYES & TRICK WILLIAMS!

That's all for NXT 2.0 - good night!
