NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for November 16, 2021 at 8 PM ET! After losing her championship due to a bitter ex-friend, Raquel Gonzalez looks to get some revenge against Dakota Kai for costing her the title. Also, newcomer Tony D'Angelo faces Dexter Lumis to kick off the show. NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

* Tony D'Angelo vs. Dexter Lumis

Last week D'Angelo implied that Lumis would be sleeping with the fish, but today Lumis has a drawing of D'Angelo literally sleeping with the fish. D'Angelo ducks out the ring at the bell and Lumis follows him, but D'Angelo is all over him as he gets back in and thinks he outsmarted him, but Lumis was ready for him with a Thesz Press and elbow drop. Both men get dueling chants from the crowd, D'Angelo lands a belly-to-belly suplex and he goes on the angry offense. Lumis goes for the Slience but D'Angelo fights out, takes the easel that the drawing was on distracting the referee, pokes him in the eye, and hits the spinning fisherman's suplex for the UPSET win. WINNER: TONY D'ANGELO!

D'Angelo steps out the ring, while Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes attack Lumis from behind. Carmelo hits the lungblower and Trick hits a flying clothesline, then they break his hand inside a steel chair! Johnny Gargano rushes to the ring but he's too late as they scamper away.

During the break, Gargano and Indi Hartwell walked Lumis to the back. Gargano is back in the ring, gets on the mic and calls out Carmelo Hayes. "Originally, I wanted to beat you for your title to prove that I am better than you. But now you screwed with the wrong guy's son-in-law, you screwed with the wrong family, and if you screw with my family I kick your teeth down your throat!" Gargano calls him down to the ring, but instead out comes Pete Dunne to complain that he's not going to ease his way into a title match. Dunne did pin Carmelo last week, albeit with Gargano's help, but Dunne dismisses his assistance. Carmelo's music plays and they show up on the balcony, with Trick Williams making fun of Gargano and Dunne bickering. Dunne asks "Who are you?!" towards Williams, and Gargano says he's the one who carries Melo's bags. Carmelo calls himself the leader of the new school, but Dunne tells him to shut up, adding: "I'm the same age as you, plus 10 years experience, plus I already have a win over you. But carry on, talk your talk." Carmelo challenges them both for the same time, for the title, for next week. Trick protests it, but Melo is confident enough to do so. Gargano mentions that's been there for 5 years and agrees to the triple threat match for the NXT North American Championship.

Malcolm Bivens is gloating about his group Diamond Mine backstage in the locker room. Joe Gacy shows up smiling saying that he likes the group, Bivens gets in his face and offers him his card and says admission into Diamond Mine is $837.50. Breaktime.

We get a video of LA Knight calling himself a megastar even without money and jewelry, but his goal is to be NXT Champion. He then complains about Grayson Waller getting in his business and hosting Halloween Havoc instead of him. Clearly Knight is annoyed with Waller.

* Diamond Mine vs. Jacket Time & Odyssey Jones

The NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong is going to start the match against Ikemen Jiro. They lock up, then Strong chops Jones on the chest to no affect, so Jones tags in and Strong tags out. Julius Creed tries to take the big man down but Jone throws him down and tags Kushida in and they go back and forth with double axe handles. Julius suplexes Jiro, Brutus Creed tags in, and Jiro fights him off. Brutus slams him down, hits a kneedrop, Strong tags in, Jiro escapes his grasp and tags out. Kushida takes down the Cruiserweight Champion with a hiptoss and cartwheels into a basement dropkick, then disposes of the Creed Brothers. Strong attacks Kushida from behind as we take a commercial break.

We see the action still with picture-in-picture and Diamond Mine take control of the match. Brutus delivers a delayed double-arm suplex, String hits a gutbuster, both Creed Brothers do a double knee strike to the ribs, Julius hits a gutwrench suplex, Strong tags in for an elbow drop, and applies a chinlock with a knee to the back. Kushida tries to fight back but Strong dropkicks him in the gut and beats him down in the ropes to the delight of Malcolm Bivens and Ivy Nile. Brutus tags in for more damage, Julius is in as well for a body slam and puts him in a chinlock, and Kushida fights out to make the hot tag, Jiro comes in with a few jacket strikes to Julius, a couple of discus strikes for good measure.

When we come back full-screen, Jiro trips up Julius, kicks his ass literally, but Julius body slams him. Brutus tags in to beat him down, Jiro gets away, kicks Strong off of him, makes the other hot tag. Jones wipes out Strong, press slams him, throws the Creed Brothers into each other, Strong kicks him in the head with a step-up enzuigiri, and delivers the Angle Slam! Jacket Time break up the count, they knock down the Creed Brothers, Strong is all alone in the ring, Jones splats him with a running crossbody and gets the victory! WINNERS: JACKET TIME & ODYSSEY JONES!

The Grizzled Young Veterans are backstage with the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles as Zack Gibson talks to his nana pretending as if they won the men's titles. The call ends and they successfully tricked her into possibly gaining inheritance and they go to return the titles.

After the break, we get more hijinx from MSK where they go through the airport and take a flight to find the shaman to help them.

* Andre Chase vs. Xyon Quinn

They lock up, trade a couple of wrestling holds and takedowns, Quinn hits an atomic drop, clothesline, shoulder tackle, 3-point stance, but hits the turnbuckles and Chase capitalizes with a swinging neckbreaker for 2. Chase does a snapmare, stomps him down, and puts him in a rear chinlock. Quinn counters with a rolling Samoan drop, hits the Jackhammer, and covers for 3. WINNER: XYON QUINN!

Joaqion Wilde and Raul Mendoza attack Quinn from behind, Quinn dumps them out the ring, they continue to go after him, but Quinn fights them off. Santos Escobar with the final blow from behind! Escobar laughs maniacally as they stomp him down and Elektra Lopez shows up. "No one says 'no' to Elektra Lopez!" They slam the Quinn's back and the back of his head on a steel grate before walking off, while Elektra takes a few moments to look down on him. Breaktime.

Raquel Gonzalez gets interviewed next and she talks about being used to having the NXT Women's Title with her as she took it everywhere with her. But after Dakota Kai hit her in the back with a shovel it got taken away from her, and she vows to deal with "toxica feas" another time. Tonight is all about revenge and plans to bury Dakota with the shovel that she hit her with.

* Poker Showdown

We go to the ring for a live Texas Hold'em between Duke Hudson and Cameron Grimes. Ring announcer Alicia Taylor goes through the rules and wishes them luck. Hudson says he doesn't need like like the other "losers" in the crowd and like Grimes. "These are my chips, these are my cards, and tonight Grimes I'm gonna make you my bitch!" Grimes laughs it off and tells him he's nervous and sweating like Shaq at the free-throw line. They start to play while talking trash to each other with quiet commentary. We know what cards they have, Hudson has the bigger probability of winning, and eventually he gets 100%. Grimes plays mind games with him questioning the size of his balls, and Hudson gets flustered as the crowd jeering grows towards him. Hudson freaks out as Grimes messes with his mind since that's how he won last time, and Hudson FOLDS! Grimes wins the hand even with 0% probability, Hudson demands to see his cards, and he sees that Grimes played him. "You got played! You got played!" Hudson realizes that Grimes was bluffing and beats him down scaring off the dealer and Alicia Taylor, then powerbombs Grimes THROUGH THE TABLE! Hudson grabs a hammer frim a toolbox... no wait he grabs SCISSORS and cuts Grimes's beard and hair!!

Von Wagner is exercisizing in the locker room when Kyle O'Reilly shows up to call him Adam Pearce's bodyguard since he saw him on SmackDown last Friday. They're not worried about anything else except handling business tonight. Breaktime.

* Briggs & Jensen vs. Kyle O'Reilly & Von Wagner

Brooks Jensen and Kyle O'Reilly start the match, O'Reilly hits quick strikes, Jensen body slams him, back and forth, Josh Briggs tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle. The NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium are watching backstage. Wagner gets the tag, locks up with Briggs, shoulder block has no budge, Wagner hits a shoulder tackle, and headbutts him. O'Reilly tagged in, works on the arm, boots Jensen in the face, and Briggs boots O'Reilly in the face. Jensen tags in, hits chops and clotheslines, a big elbow drop for 2, puts him in a bearhug, then Briggs tags in to continue the bearhug, then back to Jensen with the bearhug, and O'Reilly finally breaks free for the hot tag. Wagner hits a short-arm clotheslineto Jensen, gutwrench suplex, lifting flatliner, Briggs gets dumped out the ring, and O'Reilly wipes him out with a flying knee off the apron. Wagner hits Jensen with a double arm slam and gets the 3-count. WINNER: VON WAGNER & KYLE O'REILLY!

Imperium discuss that victory and say they are good but not on their level. Thank goodness for subtitles telling us what they said.

Backstage, Indi Hartwell is sulking about Dexter Lumis being injured. Persia Pirotta is with her and reminds her that their match is next. Indi is worried about Dexter even though Johnny Gargano is there, so Persia tells her to go be with her man because she's "got this"... by herself? We'll see. Breaktime.

* Lashing Out with Lash Legend

The first topic is Kay Lee Ray interrupting Toxic Attraction last week. Grayson Waller walks on the set happy to be there and to "spill some tea" about LA Knight talking about him. Waller gets serious and says to the veterans that the game is his now.

* 2-on-1 Handicap Match: Gabby Stephens & Jenna Levy vs. Persia Pirotta

Persia shows her power right away and spots Robert Stone standing on the entranceway looking at her. Persia gets attacked from behind, but she makes quick work of them, splashing one in corners, picks BOTH up on her shoulders, hits a double Samoan drop, does a swinging facebuster, and gets the win. WINNER: PERSIA PIROTTA!

Robert Stone is applauding Pirotta post-match. Backstage Dakota Kai gets interviewed and she has a cloudy mind, and the only way to clear her mind is by ending Raquel. Toxic Attraction show up, Dakota tells Mandy that she owes her twice and walks off. GYV show up to hand them back their NXT Women's Tag Team Titles, and Zack Gibson explains to James Drake that when you need to lie you hide the truth in it.

Tommaso Ciampa is in the back and says he's successfully defended his title for the past two months since NXT had a new look to it. He feels that the locker room has a lack of respect and integrity, but he decides to address them in the ring as he flips his chair while walking off. After a commercial break, we get a video of Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro enjoying themselves at music festivals. They say they're the life of the party and want to share this with the NXT Universe.

The NXT Champion heads out to address the locker room just as he said he would. Ciampa talks about Carmelo Hayes trying to convince himself that he's holding the "A" title, then says he won't take a shot in his direction missing him as wide as an airball. Ciampa then talks about Grayson Waller about his comments on the previous generations driving around towns in the indies. Just as he starts to mention Tony D'Angelo's name, he's interrupted by Bron Breakker. After stepping in the ring, Breakker brings up the names that the champ just mentioned, and says the only thing that matters is him taking the NXT Championship away from him. Ciampa tells him that speech was powerful, but reminds him and everyone else what happened at the closing moments of Halloween Havoc where he successfully defended his NXT Championship against Breakker. "That was 1-2-3. Now I'm no math major and by the sounds of it, you ain't either. But the way I see it, you've got less than a 33⅓ percent chance of ever taking this NXT Title from me. Now you can bark up the tree all you want, but at the end of the day Bron, you're just a puppy. And me, well me I'm the NXT Champion."

Next week, Carmelo Hayes defedns the NXT North American Championship against Johnny Gargano and Pete Dunne in a triple threat match. After the break, we see USA Olympic Gold Medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock sitting in the crowd.

* Raquel Gonzalez vs. Dakota Kai

Raquel clotheslines her at the bell and beats her down in a corner. Dakota ducks out the ring, Raquel tthrows her into the barrier, back into the ring, throws her down, then tackles her on the floor. Raquel dumps her on the apron, but from there Dakota kicks her in the chest, but back in the ring Raquel hits a back elbow. Next week, Tommaso Ciampa takes on Grayson Waller. Raquel slams her head against the turnbuckles, puts her in the Argentina backbreaker, then rams her into the top turnbuckle yelling at her. Dakota side-steps her and Gonzalez crashes into the ringpost falling out the ring, so Dakota hits the big boot and we take our final commercial break.

During picture-in-picture, Dakota brings her back into the ring, covers for 2, hits an double-knee armbreaker, and works on the shoulder some more. Dakota hits a pump kick for 2, goes back to the arm, and Raquel backs her into a corner.

When we come back in full, Raquel is fighting her off, but Dakota trips her into the ropes and hits the running facewash for 2. Both women end up climbing the turnbuckles outside the ropes, Dakota drops her on the top while jumping down, hits a pump kick, and covers for 2. Dakota screams in her face, Raquel gives her a two-handed choke slam, clotheslines her, big boot, and clubs her on the back. Dakota yanks off the bottom turnbuckle as Raquel pulls her up for a fallaway slam, hits a pendulum elbow drop, and gets a 2-count. Dakota counters the Chingola Bomb with a sunset flip, misses an elbow drop, covers for 1, crucifix for 2, Raquel blocks the scorpion kick, picks her up and spins her around before just dropping her. Dakota blocks a suplex, sends her face into the exposed turnbuckle, stands outside the ring with the shovel, brings it into the ring, but Raquel kicks her away and picks the shovel up for herself. Dakota backs off scared, but then she's attacked from behind by Toxic Attraction! WINNER by DQ: RAQUEL GONZALEZ.

Raquel suffers a 4-on-1 beatdown until COra Jade shows up hitting Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne with her skateboard! Dakota ducks the skateboard and Mandy Rose clotheslines Cora Jade, and she also suffers the outnumbered beatdown. Zoey Stark comes out on crutches with a leg brace, but also comes out Io Shirai and uses Stark's crutch to go on the attack! Dakota hits her with the skateboard, but Shirai just whacks her with the crutch! Raquel throws Dakota off of her back, tosses Gigi Dolin into Dakota, and these three stand tall.

Io Shirai: "WAR GAMES!!"
