NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for November 23, 2021 at 8 PM ET! Tonight, the NXT North American Championship is on the line when Carmelo Hayes defends his title against both Johnny Gargano and Pete Dunne. NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

Grayson Waller interrupts the opening to whine and complain and talk trash. He name-drops John Cena, The Rock and Roman Reigns calling them big stars who the crowd booed and now they're big stars in the ring and in Hollywood. Tommaso Ciampa storms to the ring and gets in Waller's face before taking a moment to raising up his NXT Championship.

* Grayson Waller vs. Tommaso Ciampa {NXT Champion}
  [non-title match]

The crowd politely chants "Ciampa's gonna kill you" for Waller to understand what's to come. Waller toys with the champ in the beginning with short jabs and testing his patience, so Ciampa snaps and stomps a mudhole in him and walks it try with the running face-wash. Ciampa punches him in the corner, Waller drops him on the top turnbuckle, and hits a neckbreaker to get the brief advantage. Ciampa drops him with a back elbow, but Waller hits another neckbreaker and chokes him in the ropes demonstrating his new meaner side. After mentioning The Great One earlier, Waller thinks it's a good idea to imitate The Rock and delivers a spinebuster and thinks about hitting his lesser version of The People's Elbow, but thankfully Ciampa rolls out the way. Ciampa clotheslines him over and over and over, clotheslines him out the ring, clothesline on the floor, throws him over the announce table, and applauds himself before our first commercial break.

We get the match continuing with picture-in-picture, and Ciampa throws him back into the ring to continue the beating. Ciampa punches and chops him, but after a while Waller hits a jumping heel kick, clotheslines him in a corner, and a hard jab that knocks him down.

When we come back full-screen, Waller chops him, but Ciampa chops him back and they bump heads, then Waller leaps off the middle ropes but Ciampa hits a high knee in mid-air! Ciampa hits a ripcord DDT, Waller counters the Fairytale Ending with a jackknife pin for 2, rolling pin for 2, schoolboy but Ciampa rolls through and knees him in the chin. Waller hits a fireman's carry into a sit-out spinebuster, gets a 2-count, Ciampa cuts him off on the turnbuckle, Waller blocks a superplex, Ciampa is right back with an uppercut, and hits the AIR RAID CRASH FROM THE MIDDLE ROPES, and gets the 1-2-NO! Ciampa chops him hard across the chest, backside rolls through, Waller counters Fairytale Ending, hits an inverted rolling senton, gets on the ropes, hits the diving elbow drop, and covers for 2.9! Ciampa rolls out the ring, Waller hits the tope con hilo, throws him back in, Ciampa rolls him into Willow's Belle, hits the Fairytale Ending, and gets the 3-count! WINNER: TOMMASO CIAMPA!

As the camera pans over Waller recovering in the ring, LA Knight was observing the monitor when McKenzie Mitchell shows up to ask him his response. Knight couldn't wait to mention that Waller lost and he sucks. "That's not an insult. That's just a fact of life!" Joe Gacy pops up to tell Knight his facts are destructive and harmful. Knight can't stand Gacy and challenges him to for a fight. We cut to last week where Duke Hudson got so ma at Cameron Grimes and he attacked Cameron Grimes and cut his hair. Breaktime.

Earlier today, Toxic Attraction entered the building and barely have any interest in anything the interviewer has to say. Dakota Kai walks along with them and they just keep going on, and Mandy Rose tells them that she doesn't need them in her match with Cora Jade tonight. They pass by a disaster on the ground, and it was caused by Kay Lee Ray.

Cameron Grimes heads out not like himself with shorter hair and a slim beard. With tears in his eyes, Grimes takes a microphone and talks about growing up tough just so he could show everyone that "Cameron Grimes holds it down!" Through all of those times, he kept his hair and his beard to remind himself of when he had nothing, but Duke Hudson took that away from him by humiliating and embarrassing him. Grimes calls Hudson out to the ring because he's done talking. Hudson is getting his beard shaved and says Grimes took a lot of money from him last week. Grimes calls him out to the ring again, but Hudson denies his request. Grimes gave him a chance last week calling him gutless and nutless, so he challenges him to a Hair vs. Hair Match at NXT WarGames! Hudson accepts, shows off the hair he clipped from last week, and says he wants the rest.

We get words from Pete Dunne who says he's waited too long to hold a championship in NXT. "Tonight, the baddest man in NXT becomes North American Champion!"

We get an interview with Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta before their match for a medical update from Indi's husband. Hartwell says that Dexter Lumis will be out for a month, and won't be able to draw with a broken hand either. Persia offers for her to sit this match out, but Indi promises that she's good to go and dedicates this match to Dexter. Breaktime.

We get a vignette for "Tiffany's Epiphanies" about a spoiled girl who's daddy paid for her tennis lessons, grew up with a silver spoon, and she's ready for NXT. Her name is Tiffany Stratton, coming soon.

* Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta vs. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter

A sad and despondant Indi allows Persia to start the match, who runs through Kayden with a shoulder tackle. Indi is so sad she tags in slowly, and Kacy does a hurricanrana. Kayden tags in, Kacy trips her up, Kayden with a basement dropkick, Kacy tags in, and lands a wheelbarrow moonsault. Persia breaks the count, Indi sends Kacy to a corner, Persian tags in, Kacy fights back, and Persia powers her into the turnbuckles. Indi tags back in with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, Indi covers, Kayden pulls her off the cover, Persia tags back in and applies a bearhug. Kacy side-steps her in a corner, Indi is extremely sad looking at her wedding ring, Persian tags in, and Kacy makes the hot tag. Indi hits a sidewalk slam, looks at her wedding ring, Kayden with a crucifix pin for 2, Kacy tags in, hits an assisted splash, and gets the 3-count. WINNERS: KACY CATANZARO & KAYDEN CARTER!

We get a video package by Santos Escobar talking saying no one can touch him, and out come Legado Del Fantasma to the ring before the break. When we come back, Andre Chase is leading a group of his students through the halls for teachable moments and spots Cameron Grimes there, telling them not to make decisions when you're angry. Grimes tells Chase to go to hell and walks off.

* Santos Escobar vs. Malik Blade

Escobar outwrestles him at the beginning, and even though Blade gets a dropkick in, this match is all Escobar in the first few minutes. Blade rolls him up for 2, Escobar hits an exploder suplex into the turnbuckles, hits double knees in the corner, lands the Phantom Driver and a 3-count later ends the match.

Elektra Lopez is still taking offense to Xyon Quinn saying NO to her. Now that Santos Escobar is back, they feel stronger and whole again. Kyle O'Reilly and Von Wagner show up and they say they want the NXT Tag Team Championships. Legado Del Fantasma beat them last week, but O'Reilly and Wagner make a point that Wagner's foot was on the ropes so they're not done. The tag champs Imperium show up in the balcony and say they should all be ashamed of themselves acting like children. "The truth is, neither one of you will be able to stop the absolute standard bearers of this division!" Imperium state they will watch these two teams face off then they'll take on the winners at NXT WarGames.

Backstage Zoey Stark, Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez show up in the locker room and just started arguing with wach other. Cora Jade simply tells them that the bickering needs to stop because it's played out, then tells them they need to find a fourth teammate for WarGames.

After the break, Tony D'Angelo gets interviewed about tonight's main event triple threat match. D'Angelo says all of the classic Italian mafioso phrases and words, and bottom line says that Johnny Gargano won't win.

* Mandy Rose {NXT Women's Champion} vs. Cora Jade
  [non-title match]

Mandy has a strength advantage over the newcomer, Cora gets a rollup for 1, hits an enzuigiri, but Mandy catches her and slams her down with a spinebuster getting a 2-count. Mandy stomps her down in a corner, hits a snap suplex, gets a 2-count, puts her in a neck crank, then applies the body scissors with a chinlock. Cora counters for 2, inside cradle for 2, clotheslines her, back elbow, hurricanrana, high knee in the corner, and gets a 2-count. Mandy side-steps a missile dropkick attempt, and out comes Kay Lee Ray with an aluminum bat! KLR smashes a laptop on a small table, tosses the bat into the ring, and Cora rolls Mandy up in a schoolgirl pin for 3! WINNER: CORA JADE!

Cora Jade has just pinned the champion in a non-title match! Kay Lee Ray is proud of her actions while Mandy Rose can't believe what just happened.

We get words from Carmelo Hayes saying he's the leader of the new school and he's accomplished a lot during his short period of time in NXT. Joe Gacy shows up on screen in a separate room talking about bringing a new sense of belonging, and a hand touches his shoulder. Breaktime.

The group of women congratulate Cora Jade on her victory backstage, and Kay Lee Ray shows up and says "I'm in." Knowing that they needed a fourth member inside of WarGames, KLR wants to be involved and also volunteers herself to be in the advantage ladder match next week.

Joe Gacy is in the ring already. Grayson Waller attacks LA Knight from behind as he makes his way to the ring! The two fight it out and several referees have to separate the two men. Joe Gacy takes a seat in the ring and wished he could've shown how to settle differences with LA Knight peacefully. Diamond Mine show up now, and Malcolm Bivens says his match is not happening, and because Gacy tried to steal their shine last week they decided to do the same to him. Ivy Nile has a match next and Bivens tells Gacy to get out of the ring. Gacy says he has no respect for the Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong, and says the NXT Cruiserweight Championship is an example of exclusivity and weight shaming. The crowd tells Gacy to shut the hell up, but he keeps going saying they cruiserweight division is meant to divide. Strong takes the mic and says he fears no one, and doesn't care about Gacy or ay weight limit. Strong tells Bivens to make this match with Gacy happen in the future so he can embarrass him. Bivens: "Well, you heard the champ, and what he wants he gets. But don't worry Joe, I'm gonna cross all the T's, I'm gonna dot all the I's, and I'm gonna make sure this contract is signed, sealed and delivered. Because Decemeber 5th at WarGames, Roderick Strong is gonna beat you like a Lil' Jon track. YEAH!" Gacy thanks Bivens for this, but Bivens just wants The Creed Brothers to dispose of him. Garland shows up next to Gacy, so they back up. Ivy Nile's match is next.

We go back to the adventures of MSK trying to find a shaman. They get pulled over, the cop says they went 7 MPH, has them step out the car, and they have to open a bag they have with them, but a speeder drives past them so the cop has other priorities. The story continues next week.

* Ivy Nile vs. Yulisa Leon

Yulisa does a couple of escapes, but Ivy catches her and eventually takes her down, then does push-ups on her back. They trade wrestling holds, Ivy blasts her with a lariat, front facelock, flips her over, and puts her in a figure-4 headlock while doing sit-ups. Yulisa rolls her up for 2, Ivy locks in the dragon sleeper, locks her fingers behind her back, and Yulisa taps. WINNER: IVY NILE!

We get a video package for Solo Sikoa. He mentions he was with those down since Day Ones (a reference to The Usos) but now he fights alone.

GYV are walking backstage, Zack Gibson pickpockets a man as James Drake distracts him, they take the money and walk off. The same man gets caught up in the Grayson Waller and LA Knight fight still ongoing! After the break, BOA sits in the chair, once sat by mei Ying, be he claims that Mei Ying's aura passes through him and soon he shall be feared.

* Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Briggs & Jensen

James Drake will start the match against Brooks Jensen. The quicker man is Jensen, then Briggs tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle. Jensen tags back in, double uppercut, punches him, Zack Gibson distracts the referee, Drake slaps Jensen, allows him to chase him around the ring, makes the tag, Jensen grabs Drake's leg, but Gibson attacks him from behind. Gibson hits a short-arm clothesline for 2, grinds him down with a chinlock - and we see the Knight and Waller fight STILL ongoing backstage! Gibson puts him in a sleeper, Jensen counters with a back suplex, both men are down but Gibson grabs Jensen's leg, Drake puts him in a front headlock, Jensen gives him a back body drop and makes the hot tag. Briggs knocks them all down, hits a sidewalk slam, jumping splash for 2, double arm escaped by Drake but he's holding his knee. Gibson got caught on the ropes, Briggs boots him in the face, sees the "bad" knee, and delivers a double-arm backbreaker. Jensen tags in, they hit the high/low combo, and Jensen covers for 3. WINNERS: BRIGGS & JENSEN!

Next week, Kay Lee Ray takes on Dakota Kai for the advantage ladder match. We get a commercial for WWE Day 1 airing on Saturday, January 1st.

* NXT North American Championship: Johnny Gargano vs. Pete Dunne vs. Carmelo Hayes {C}

The bell dings, the main event is underway, and all three men go at it. Gargano hits a headscissors takedown to Hayes, dropkicks him, and Hayes hits an overhead kick. Dunne hits a shoulder block to Hayes, Gargano Escape applied, Dunne escapes the hold, Gargano grabs the ropes, Hayes clobbers Gargano and clotheslines Dunne. The champ stomps on both men, Dunne ties up their legs, applies a double single leg crab, and Trick Williams pulls Hayes out the ring. Gargano kicks Dunne off, armbreaker, and hits a Russian legsweep as Hayes hits a springboard clothesline. Hayes and Dunne battle it out, Gargano blocks a suplex, hits the bulldog to Hayes while clothesline to Dunne, then hits a tornado DDT. Gargano hits a suicide dive to both men and a jumping headscissors to Dunne on the floor that takes us to our final commercial break.

Gargano throws Hayes back into the ring, gets in Trick Williams's face, Hayes catches him in the ropes blocking the assisted DDT, kicks him in the back, hits a springboard legdrop, covers for 2, Dunne with a forced Irish whip, and works the legs. Dunne delivers the exploder suplex while in a deathlock submission on Gargano's legs. Hayes does a sunset flip forcing Dunne to German suplex Gargano.

When we come back, all three men are down but Dunne jabs at Gargano, and they all trade shots while kneeling. Gargano and Dunne go at it, Dunne with an enzuigiri to Hayes, goes for the triangle hold, Gargano baseball slides into Dunne, then hits the sligshot spear to Hayes! Dunne stomps on Gargano's hands, kicks him in the head, Gargano counters The Bitter End with a DDT, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT! Hayes gets kicked from both sides, Dunne hits Gargano with the step-up enzuigiri, and Hayes comes back with a lungblower and cutter for a near-fall. Dunne kicks him in the head, kneedrop to the arm, Gargano ducks the head kick, hits the Poison 'Rana, but Hayes hits a pump kick, and Gargano comes right back with a lariat! Gargano hits the lawn dart, kicks Trick Williams, and Dunne throws Hayes out the ring, counters the slingshot spear with a punch, and hits The Bitter End on Gargano! Tony D'Angelo pulls Dunne out the ring and throws him into the steel steps! Hayes hits Gargano with the diving axe kick, covers, and gets the 1-2-3 to retain!! WINNER and STILL NXT NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: CARMELO HAYES!

Trick Williams applauds D'Angelo for his effeorts and helping his boy win. Waller runs into D'Angelo, Knight is out here too and fights with Knight, and Dunne even gets involved! The fight spills into the ring with Knight, Dunne, D'Angelo, Waller, Williams and Hayes all brawling! The crowd is clearly chanting for WarGames here. Hayes gets ready to jump on Gargano's hand, but suddenly they're interrupted by CIAMPA! Ciampa hits Wiallams, Waller, and D'Angelo with a steel chair leaving Hayes to fight on his own. Dunne, Ciampa, and Knight surround the North American Champion so he exits the ring. The crowd chants WarGames again, there are four men in the ring, three men on the floor, the former DIY tag team Ciampa and Gargano help each other, and out comes Bron Breakker to complete the four on the floor! IT'S OLD SCHOOL VS. NEW SCHOOL! Bron Breakker: "WAR GAMES!!"

Breakker, D'Angelo, Hayes, and Waller all rush the ring to fight Ciampa, Gargano, Dunne and Knight! Old school vs. new school! NXT vs. 2.0! It's WAR!
