Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for January 25, 2022 at 8 PM ET! The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continues tonight. Also tonight, Solo Sikoa takes on Boa in a No Disqualification Falls Count Anywhere Match. In one-on-one action it's Cameron Grimes vs. Tony D'Angelo and the winner faces Carmelo Hayes for the North American Championship. Singer OllieJayy, who provides the theme to NXT 2.0, will have a special live musical performance. Not only that, but we get a six-woman tag match pitting Kay Lee Ray, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta against Toxic Attraction! NXT has a makeover in 2.0 fashion. Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

MSK open the show standing in front of the trophy for the Dusty Tag Team Classic. They talk about winning the tournament last year and plan to do the same this year, and after some back and forth they head to the ring for the first match. Jacket Time come out next and they bow to the trophy on their way to the ring. The finals will take place on NXT: Vengeance Day on February 15th!

* Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic QuarterFinals: MSK vs. Jacket Time

Nash Carter and Kushida start the match for their respective teams, and Jacket Time gets the early chants. Kushida controls the technical maneuvers while Carter uses his speed, the Wes Lee tags in and covers for a 1-count. Ikeman Jiro tags in, they both kick Lee's arms, Lee trips him for a couple of 1-counts and dodges the jacket uppercut with a backflip. Lee dropkicks him, Jiro clotheslines him, Kushida tags in, they trade forearm smashes, and hit a double bulldog. Jiro tags back in, Carter tags in, MSK combo attack Jiro, and Kushida breaks the cover. Jiro fights off both men, MSK double team him, and we take our first commercial break.

We get picture-in-picture here and MSK are the dominant team with double team attacks, and Carter gets a 2-count when Kushida breaks the count again. Lee hits a springboard tope atomico, 2-count, hits another dropkick, 2-count, Carter tags in, slingshot tope atomico, another 2-count, Lee tags in again, and Jiro counters a back suplex. Kushida gets the hot tag, hits palm strikes to both men, buzzsaw kick to Lee, hiptoss-cartwheel-dropkick to Carter, and the wind-up punch to Lee followed by the penalty kick to the arm. Kushida even hits the handspring kick to knock them off the apron for good measure.

Jiro tags in when we come back full-screen, Lee fights back, Carter tags in and hits forearm smashes, mid-air trip, German suplex, legsweep, penalty kick, running shooting star press, and gets a near-fall. Lee tags in, Jiro counters their finisher, catches Lee for a sunset driver, and gets 2.5! Kushida tag sin, double hiptoss-cartwheel-dropkick, buzzsaw kicks, and Carter breaks up the count. Jiro tags, Lee counters them, kicks Kushida while getting punched, and rolls away from the Swanton. Carter and Kushida tag in, Carter hits a jumping knee, Kushida blocks the pushing moonsault and puts him in the Hoverboard Lock! MSK hit their elevated blockbuster finisher and get the victory! WINNERS and Advancing to the Semi-Finals: MSK!

The crowd chant "That was awesome!" as MSK and Jacket Time all show respect to each other after the match.

Zoey Stark talks to Io Shirai about the Dusty Classic, and while Zoey is still rehabbing her knee she is not medically cleared to compete. Zoey tells her she'll need to find a new partner for the tournament if she wants to win, but Io doesn't want a new partner. Tiffany Stratton wals up to make fun of Zoey's outfit, then tells Io that she'll have time to find a partner after facing her tonight. Legado Del Fantasma head down to the ring passing MSK on their way before a commercial break.

We get a video from Cameron Grimes saying that he's going to defeat Tony D'Angelo tonight to face Carmelo Hayes for the North American Championship at Vengeance Day. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams arrived moments ago, and they have singer OllieJayy with them.

Santos Escobar is in the ring to talk about Bron Breakker. He claims everybody mocks Bron because of his father (Rick Steiner) and uncle (Scott Steiner) and his poor math skills. Escobar: "When the jokes are done, everybody tells Bron how special he is. Some people have the NERVE to tell him he's a star now. Can you believe that? I pride myself being a real from the start because that's a trait that was passed down to me by my father. Bron, me and you come from similar upbringings, which is why you and your family don't impress me and you don't intimidate me. The truth is, I don't like you. Actually, I despise you. I despise how fast you got here, how you've been given all these opportunities, but most of all I despise that you won the NXT Championship before me. You've only been here a couple of months and you already make me SICK!" Talk about the man long enough and he'll show up, so here comes the NXT Champion Bron Breakker! The champ tells Escobar that he thinks he's a good superstar but he needs help to win his matches. Escobar snaps at him to not talk about his family, but Breakker snaps back. Breakker: "Callete! Champ's speaking. Issue the challenge, I'll accept it, that's simple!" Escobar tells him he has a big target and he's alone, but things are done on his time. Escobar: "When I'm ready, you'll know." Escobar steps out the ring, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza help Elektra Lopez out, and they turn to attack Breakker but the champ was ready!

We get a video package of Boa talking about the powers bestowed upon him and his feud with Solo Sikoa. Breaktime.

* No DQ Falls Count Anywhere Match: Solo Sikoa vs. Boa

Boa cracks Sikoa in the back with a kendo stick during his entrance! The bell dings so this match is underway as a face-painted Boa continues the assault with his weapon, and he continues hitting him in the ring. Boa throws a handful of steel chairs and a trash can into the ring, he goes back after Sikoa, but the Samoan drops him with... a Samoan drop. Both men wedge a chair into opposing corners, one chair in the middle of the ring, both tug at it, Boa wins and swings the chair at his opponent. The trash can comes into play as Boa delivers a butterfly suplex onto it, and he covers for 2. Boa brings out a table right next to the announce table, and Sikoa starts to fight back as they fight... to the back. Boa throws him up against a ladder, slams him into it, then hits him with it. Sikoa side-steps him and throws him into the garage door, shoves the ladder at him, and crushes him with a splash. Sikoa covers for 2, goes for the running hip attack, but dents the door instead because Boa moved out of the way.

Sikoa is outside, Boa opens the garage door the hard way, and Sikoa sprays him with a fire extinguisher. The fight returns through the halls and to the ring, a third chair is wedged in the turnbuckles, Sikoa throws Boa head-first into the three chairs, superkicks him, goes up top, Boa shakes the ropes, smacks his head on the announce table and kicks him in the chest. Sikoa hits a Samoa drop against the announce desk, Sikoa lays out the table, puts Boa on the table that he pulled out, goes up top, and HITS THE USO SPLASH FROM THE TOP THROUGH THE TABLE ON THE FLOOR!! Sikoa makes the cover and gets the 3-count!! WINNER: SOLO SIKOA!

After the break, we get a video package for Imperium. They talk about their past, WAL-- um, GUNTHER talks about his name and how he will use this name to build a new future, and they plan to move on to dominate NXT.

* Duke Hudson vs. Guru Raaj

Hudson boots Raaj in the face at the bell, mounted punches, beats him down in a corner, hits a big sidewalk slam, cross powerbomb, and covers for 3. WINNER: DUKE HUDSON!

Dante Chen calls out Hudson and rushes the ring to fight him. Several referees come down to separate them, Hudson backs off, but then he takes Chen down with a chopblock to his previously injured right leg.

We get a backstage interview segment with Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta. They talk about focus and their minds are on the Women's Tag Team Championships. Kay Lee Ray enters the convo to talk about the NXT Women's Championship is what she wants. If all goes well for them, Toxic Attraction will have a bad night.

After the break, Legado Del Fantasma are stewing about Bron Breakker and they want another shot at him. Escobar says it will be 2-on-1 unless Breakker can find a partner but they don't think he will since he's the NXT Champion and it's lonely at the top. Elektra remembers that Breakker is the first one arriving and the last one leaving, so Santos suggests they stay a little longer.

* Toxic Attraction {NXT Women's & Tag Team Champions} vs. Persia Pirotta, Indi Hartwell & Kay Lee Ray

NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose is starting the match with Pirotta, but she wants KLR and she'll get KLR. The champ whispers something and Jacy Jayne tags in to take her on. Hartwell tags in, goes to war with Jayne, suplex is blocked and Jayne hits a pump kick. Gigi Dolin tags in, Hartwell rolls her up for 1, and Dolin hits a running knee. Rose tags back in, suplex, parades around, knocks KLR off the apron, Hartwell rolls her up for 2 and hits a back elbow. Pirotta gets the tag because she was holding the tag rope and KLR didn't get it in time. Pirotta hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker to Rose, Hartwell clotheslines her, Pirotta grabs Rose's leg, and as soon as Kay Lee Ray is tagged Rose scampers out the ring. KLR gives chase, catches her, knocks her off the apron, Dolin and Jayne go console her, so Pirotta and Hartwell confront them, and KLR does a diving cannonball onto all of Toxic Attraction!

All the champions are down in front of the announce table, KLR throws Mandy back in, Jayne gets the tag, KLR chops her, Pirotta tags in for attacks, Hartwell tags in for stomps, Jayne clobbers her, Hartwell gets triple-teamed, and Jayne covers for 1 and hits a senton. Dolin tags in, hits ripcord forearms, quick kicks, Rose tags in, cheap shot to KLR, Hartwell hits a sidewalk slam, and both women are down. Hartwell kicks Jayne off, and when she reaches for the tag Jayne pulls Pirotta off the apron. Gigi tags in, question mark kick, 2-count, and a commercial break.

When we come back, Rose has Hartwell in a body scissors, Jayne tags in, axe kick to the back, discus forearm, running neckbreaker, 2-count, both women trade chops, and they knock each other down with simultaneous big boots. Dolin and Pirotta both tag in, Pirotta clotheslines her, snake eyes, German suplex, covers, Jayne breaks out the count with a senton, Hartwell drops her with a spinebuster on Jayne, then Rose hits her with a running knee! KLR steps in and superkicks Rose, then grabs her green bat and taunts her with it in and out of the ring. KLR chases the champ out of the arena, Pirotta goes for a suplex, Dolin counters with an inside cradle and gets 1-2-kickout. Pirotta hits the big boot, hits the spinning facebuster, and covers for 3!! WINNERS: KAY LEE RAY, INDI HARTWELL & PERSIA PIROTTA!

Malik Blade and Edris Enofé are sitting and talking about making it to the semi-finals of the Dusty Cup Classic, even though people said they never would make it past the first round. Enofé wants to ask out Mandy Rose if they make it to the finals, and also they want the NXT Tag Team Titles.

After a commercial break, we see in the locker room that Cora Jade wants to convince Raquel González to be her tag team partner in the Women's Dusty Cup. Raquel is not interested but Cora says she could be a really good partner for her. Cora wants to prove it to her, but Raquel is adamant her answer is no.

* Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic QuarterFinals: Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Bodhi Hayward & Andre Chase

The last quarterfinal match in the tournament takes place now. James Drake starts with Chase, he uses his technical skills to outwrestle him, Chase counters with an armdrag, and says that was a teachable moment. Chase hits a Russian legsweep, spells out Chase U with each stomp, and hits a European uppercut. Hayward tags in, sunset flip for 2, Chase tags back in, diving axe handle, jabs, and hits the Bionic Elbow. Zack Gibson tags in, trips Chase up, hits an assisted shoulder breaker on the floor, throws him back in, shoulder blocks, Drake tags back in, Chase fights them off and rolls him up for 2. Chase kicks him off, escapes the hold, and crawls to make the tag. Hayward hits a running chopblock, catches him for a powerslam, splashes three times, Gibson comes back with a throat thrust, Drake tags in, running dropkick to Chase, GYV hit a double lungblower, and that gets the win. WINNERS and Advancing to the Semi-Finals: GRIZZLED YOUNG VETERANS!

Von Wagner is in the ring beating down Bodhi Hayward while Robert Stone stands on the apron. Wagner hits the Olympic Slam to Wayward, and delivers the death valley driver to Chase. Robert Stone hands him his blazer, and Wagner puts it on. Robert Stone: "Von Wagner has been reinstated, and is under new management."

We get a video package of Grayson Waller and he brags about beating Dexter Lumis last week. Waller's heavy is standing next to him, and he says he's waiting for LA Knight, but Sanga wants to meet him first. Breaktime.

We learn that Odyssey Jones suffered a ruptured patella and had successful surgery, but he will be out until around autumn. Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett wish him luck in his recovery as Tiffany Stratton is finishing her entrance.

* Io Shirai vs. Tiffany Stratton

Shirai works the arm early, but Stratton uses her gymnastics background to escape the hold and counters with an armdrag. Shirai leapfrogs over her, Stratton sticks her tongue out at her, throws her out the ring, Shirai gets back in, hits a flapjack, kips up and mocks her to call her daddy. Shirai hits a basement dropkick, covers for 2, goes for the crossface, but Stratton makes it to the bottom rope, pulls her down by the hair and puts her in a seated cobra clutch. Stratton hits a handspring splash, and covers for 2. Shirai hits the palm strike, meteora, body slam, walks over her, hits the diving moonsault, and gets the 1-2-3! WINNER: IO SHIRAI!

Malcolm Bivens makes fun of Gunther's name, and praises his boys The Creed Brothers to lead the tournament, and adds that Roderick Strong is going to take out the leader of Imperium. Bivens proposes a six-man tag money match between Diamond Mine and Imperium next week. Julius and Brutus Creed have some words for them, Roderick Strong says that Gunther won't win over him again, and Bivens ends by saying Diamond Mine is forever.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams introduce OllieJayy, who says she is NXT 2.0 and will perform "Make 'Em Fall" in the ring. During her performance we get a spliced video clips of Cameron Grimes and Tony D'Angelo before their upcoming match. Afterwards, we get words from D'Angelo saying he will beat Grimes and go on to Vengeance Day for Carmelo's title. Breaktime.

When we come back, Tiffany Stratton is on the phone walking backstage complaining about the referee to her Daddy. Wendy Choo tells her not to feel bad because everyone loses to Io. Tiffany smacks the cup out of her hand and storms off complaining some more. Next week, it'll be Imperium vs. Diamond Mine in a six-man tag match! Not only that, but Cora Jade goes one-on-one with Raquel González. Also, Legado Del Fantasma take on Bron Breakker and a mystery partner if he even has one.

* #1 Contender's Match for North American Title: Tony D'Angelo vs. Cameron Grimes

The winner of this match will face Carmelo Hayes for his North American Championship at NXT: Vengeance Day in three weeks. Grimes outsmarts D'Angelo in the beginning, throws him out the ring, and hits a penalty kick from the apron. Carmelo and Trick are standing on the balcony watching the match. Grimes control until he telegraphs a back drop and D'Angelo takes over on offense with a belly-to-belly suplex. D'Angelo beats him up in a corner, sends him flying out the ring, brings him back in, hits a backbreaker and we take our final commercial break.

We get picture-in-picture again, this time for this match and D'Angelo already has him in a front facelock. Grimes hits a running crossbody, but D'Angelo still has control for the most part and holds him down with a chinlock.

When we come back, D'Angelo hits a belly-to-belly suplex for a 2-count. He goes right back to the chinlock, double-leg takedown, and covers for 2. Grimes comes back with an armdrag, hurricanrana, flying forearms, but misses the corner Bronco Buster, and hits a release German suplex for a near-fall. D'Angelo gives a few body blows, Grimes counters the fisherman's with an inside cradle for 2, they trade punches, Grimes hits the rotation slam and gets another near-fall! Grimes with a few kicks to the chest, running kick, D'Angelo delivers the capture suplex into the turnbuckles, and covers for 1-2-NO! Grimes hits the springboard moonsault, hits the running kick, lands the flying crossbody, and covers for another near-fall. "TO THE MOON!" D'Angelo rolls out the ring to stay grounded, and Pete Dunne shows up to smack his hand with a cricket bat! Grimes hits the Cave-In as soon as Grimes rolls in and that's the end! WINNER: CAMERON GRIMES!

Cameron will now face Carmelo on February 15th for the NXT North American Championship! We cut backstage to see NXT Champion Bron Breakker walk out of the building, and the cameraman asks him who would his partner be. As Breakker gives his answer, a car's headlights turn on in the background, and Legado Del Fantasma pull up next to him for a fight in the parking lot. TOMMASO CIAMPA walks up next to Breakker, and Legado head back to their car! Ciampa nods approvingly to Breakker and they fist bump to close out the show.
