Mike's AEW Dark Recap from Jan. 11, 2022 (@Wrestling5286)

From the Bojangles Arena in Charlotte NC it's AEW Dark and this week AEW Champion Adam Page joins forces with the Dark Order in a Six Man Tag, Plus NEW AEW Tag Team Champions The Jurassic Express and NEW AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill are in action.

Match 1

The Captain Shawn Dean vs Liam Cross

Dean and Cross lock up, Dean wrenches the arm and Cross tries to reverse but Dean sends him to the mat. Dean locks in a side headlock takeover but Cross escapes. Dean locks in a side headlock and they end up in the corner, Cross goes for a shot but Dean counters and lands one to the jaw of Cross. Dean goes for the Irish whip but Cross counters and gets sent to the apron, Cross lands a big back elbow, and a clothesline followed by a slingshot senton but decides to taunt the Charlotte crowd. Dean comes back and lands a series of shots, Dean whips Cross in to the corner and lands a big shoulder tackle in the corner followed by a float over DDT. Dean climbs the ropes and lands a big splash off the top for the win.

Match 2

Anthony Ogogo vs Baron Black

Ogogo goes right for a big shot on Black but Black ducks and lands a series of shots, Black shoves Ogogo in to the ropes and lands an atomic drop followed by an exploder sending Ogogo in to the corner. Black lands a big spinning clothesline in the corner and goes for the Exploder again but Ogogo blocks with a series of shots to the back. Ogogo lands a big belly to belly suplex for a near fall. Ogogo sends Black in to the corner and lands a series of kicks in the corner and works over Ogogo. Ogogo goes for a big fireman's carry move but Black escapes. Black lands a series of shots and works over the arm. Black hammerlocks the arm of Ogogo and lands a nice backstabber out of the hammerlock, and rolls in to a crossface but Ogogo escapes. Ogogo catches Black and lands the fireman's carry in to a urinage on Black. Ogogo sets up Black on the ropes and lands the TOWER OF LONDON for the win.

We go backstage to Alex Marvez who is with Matt Hardy. Matt says that tonight we are in Charlotte NORTH CAROLINA. Matt says that his good personal friend Tony Khan made him an offer for a match. Matt says in the main event it will be H.F.O against Hangman Page and the Dark Order and if his team wins he will get a title match with Hangman Page on Dynamite. Matt says they had some travel issues with Marq Quen, but have found a suitable replacement in Serpentico and puts over Serpentico. Matt says tonight H.F,O will win and tomorrow night on Dynamite he will fulfill his destiny and defeat Hangman Page and become the NEW AEW CHAMPION... THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH.

Match 3

Red Velvet pinned Shalonce Royal with the FINAL SLICE

Match 4

The Gunn Club-Billy Austin and Colton vs T.I.M Marcus Kross and Patrick Scott when Billy pinned Scott with the Fameasse. Austin and Colton left ringside before the match because the crowd refused to stop chanting ASS BOYS because apparently that's a thing now.

Match 5

Tay Conti and Anna Jay beat the Renegade Twins-Robyn and Charlette with a double submission.

Match 6

JD Drake vs Orange Cassidy

Drake and Cassidy lock up, and Drake forces Cassidy in to the ropes and Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets. Cassidy does his weak kicks but Drake easily chops and lands a big dropkick staggering Drake but Drake chops him down. Drake goes for a back splash but misses and Cassidy goes for a bodyslam but misses. Drake charges the ropes but Cassidy drops down and sends Drake to the floor, Cassidy goes for a suicide dive but Drake catches him and tosses Cassidy on the apron and lands a big shot to the face, and backs off the referee so his unnamed masked men can get involved. Drake picks up and slams Cassidy and lands a big bodyslam and a falling headbutt and we get more involvement from the doom squad at ringside.  

Drake whips Cassidy in to the corner but Cassidy does the Ric Flair over the corner bump and sends Drake in to the corners of the ring, and lands a big crossbody block for a near fall. Cassidy goes for another bodyslam but Drake counters and goes for a bodyslam of his own but Cassidy escapes and takes down the masked men at ringside, and lands a tilt a whirl in to a DDT on Drake back in the ring. Cassidy goes for the Orange Punch but Drake's flunkies interfere again allowing Drake to squash Cassidy in the corner with a big cannonball. Chuck Taylor and Wheeler Yuta finally come out and to run off Drake's masked men. Drake tries to suplex Cassidy back in to the ring but Cassidy escapes and gets a quick roll up for a near fall, but Drake catches Cassidy with a big BLACK HOLE SLAM for a near fall. Drake climbs the ropes but misses a big moonsault, Cassidy picks up and slams Drake followed by the ORANGE PUNCH for the win.

Match 7

Dante Martin pinned Aaron Solo with the NOSE DIVE

We go backstage to Alex Marvez who is with the NEW AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill and Smart Mark Sterling. Sterling says tonight's match will not be for the TBS Championship because the first time Jade defends the title will be on either Dynamite or Rampage. Sterling says that if Skye Blue wins she will get a title shot at Jade but if she loses she will never face Jade as long as she is TBS Champion. Jade demands that once she defeats Skye Blue she wants competition on THAT BITCH SHOW.

Match 8

Eddie Kingston vs Joey Janela w Kayla Rossi

Kingston and Janela lock up, Kingston goes for the arm wrench and Janela tries a drop toehold but Kingston stands his ground and stays on his feet. Janela locks in a side headlock and Kingston shoots him off and they collide. Janela lands a big chop to the chest but Kingston fires back with a series of chops to Janela. Kingston whips Janela in to the ropes and follows him in with the KITCHEN SINK knee to the gut. Kingston lands more chops and Janela decides to bail out. Kingston goes to the floor and lands more chops and tries to send Janela in to the ring post but Janela counters and sends Kingston in to the ring post, Janela climbs the ropes but loses his balance and somehow this distracts the referee long enough for Kayla Rossi to interfere on the floor with a beautiful standing moonsault. Kingston tries to get back in the ring but Janela laces the leg in between the ropes and works over the knee of Kingston. Janela goes for a figure four but Kingston blocks and sends him out of the ring, and lands a slow moving suicide dive to the floor on Janela.

Kingston sends Janela in to the corner and lands a big splash and lands a series of chops to the chest, Janela comes back and lands a series of shots and climbs the ropes, Kingston catches Janela and lands a big superplex off the ropes. Kingston goes after Janela on the floor, Janela lands a shot and Kingston just punches him in the face, Kingston goes for an exploder on the floor, Kayla Rossi comes off the top rope but ends up taking out Janela with a big dive. Kingston rolls Janela back in to the ring and goes for a back fist but Janela ducks and lands a big superkick. Janela goes for a shot but Kingston ducks and lands a big clothesline, followed by the NORTHERN LIGHTS BOMB for the win.

Thunder Rosa beat Kelsey Fox by Submission to the Peruvian necktie

Match 10

Powerhouse Hobbs beat Alexander Moss by submission to the Torture Rack

Match 11

Daniel Garcia beat Fuego Del Sol by submission to the GARCIA LOCK. After the match Garcia refuses to let go of the hold until Interim TNT Champion Sammy Guevara come out and runs off Garcia.

Match 12

AEW TNT Champion Jade Cargill w Smart Mark Sterling beat Skye Blue with JADED.

Match 13

AEW Tag Team Championship Eliminator Match

Jurassic Express-Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy vs QT Marshall and Nick Comoroto

Marshall attacks Jungle Boy at the start with kicks and punches. Marshall goes for the Irish whip but Jungle Boy counters and lands a series of shots and cleans house of the Factory early on. Marshall pops back up and attacks Jungle Boy from behind and lands a series of shots. Comoroto comes in and lands a series of shots and lands a big bodyslam and an elbow drop for a near fall. Marshall comes back in off a tag and lands a series of shots as the heels work over Jungle Boy for a bit. Jungle Boy comes back and lands a big spinning clothesline sending Comoroto in to the ropes, and in to a tag from Marshall. Marshall goes for a suplex but Jungle Boys counters with a frankensteiner and makes the tag out.

Luchasaurus comes in and cleans house of the Factory. Luchasaurus sends Marshall and Comoroto in to neutral corners and lands flying hip attacks. Factory go for a double team but Luchasaurus catches them both with a double clothesline. Luchasaurus goes for a double chokeslam but Marshall and Comoroto escape. Marshall goes for the Diamond Cutter but Luchasaurus sends Marshall in to a kick from Jungle Boy, who then gets a big boot from Comoroto, and then Luchasaurus and Comoroto both take each other out. Factory comes back and lands some double team moves on Jungle Boy for a near fall. Jungle Boy lands a big dive to the floor tagging out to Luchasaurus at the same time. Luchasaurus comes back and lands a series of moves and a big twisting fireman's carry powerslam and Jungle Boy catches Marshall with a Destroyer off the back of Luchasaurus allowing Luchasaurus to score the win.

Winners AEW Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express-Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy. Good little match between these two teams and a nice showcase for the new AEW Tag Team Champions, and with that I do my best Mark Henry and say it's MAIN EVENT TIME.

Main Event

IF H.F.O win Matt Hardy faces AEW Champion Hangman Page for the title on Dynamite.

H.F.O-Matt Hardy Isiah Kassidy and Serpentico vs The Dark Order-Angels and Vance and AEW Champion Adam Page

Kassidy and Angels start us off, Kassidy forces Angels in to the corner and Angels is able to get the advantage and take Kassidy over and the two trade moves early on. Dark Order land a sloppy sidewalk slam/reverse DDT combination on Kassidy. Vance goes for an Irish whip but Serpentico blind tags in and Kassidy rolls out and seems a little shaken up after the double teaming early in the match. Serpentico goes for a Quasa-Dora but Vance counters and swings him off the ropes and in to a suplex. Vance hooks Serpentico in a delayed vertical suplex and tags to Page. Faces dominate early but it's Serpentico luring Angels to the floor and Matt coming in with a big kick to the gut to swing the match in to the camp of H.F.O. Matt comes in and lands an elbow off the middle rope and rams the head of Angels in all of the ring posts while saying DELETE. H.F.O work over Angels but Serpentico can't quite hit the poetry in motion and Angels slams Serpentico on the back and then Angels fights off Kassidy and Serpentico and makes the tag.

Vance comes in and lands a series of clotheslines and clean house of the H.F.O. Vance lands a big spinebuster on Kassidy and goes for the FULL NELSON but Matt attacks from behind and lands a big neckbreaker. Page comes in and cleans house and lands a big pop up forearm on Kassidy sending him out. Page lands a slingshot crossbody to the floor on Matt. Page goes for the BUCKSHOT LARIAT but Kassidy pulls out Serpentico, but Angels lands a big moonsault to the floor taking out Kassidy and Serpentico. Page and Kassidy land a Twist of Fate/Frog Splash combination for a near fall. Angels climbs the ropes but Kassidy catches Angels with a kick to the face, and Matt catches him with a shot to the back and the SPLASH MOUNTAIN BOMB. Serpentico climbs the ropes and goes for a move but misses and Page and the Dark Order circle like vultures, Angels lands the WING SNAPPER, followed by a Vance full nelson and the BUCKSHOT LARIAT from Page for the win.
