NXT 2.0

Written by Nickolye

Nickolye's WWE NXT recap for April 19, 2022 at 8 PM ET! Natalya has put the women of NXT 2.0 on notice, and tonight the Best Of All Time will show why she's a future Hall of Famer when she takes on Tatum Paxley. Last week, Pretty Deadly became the new NXT Tag Team Champions in their first night in a gauntlet match. Sarray faces Tiffany Stratton one-on-one. Also, Bron Breakker will surely be looking for Joe Gacy. What's next for the superstars of NXT 2.0? Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

Pretty Deadly open the show to brag that they made history when they won the NXT Tag Team Championships in their first night besting four other tag teams. The Grizzled Young Veterans come down to interrupt their celebration, complaining that they didn't even get the INVITE to be included in that gauntlet match! They say the reason why Pretty Deadly became NXT UK Tag Team Champions in the overseas was because GYV left the UK for that to happen, and they reason why they won last week was because GYV weren't even in the gauntlet match. Legado Del Fantasma come down AND THE BRAWL BEGINS!

NXT Champion Bron Breakker storms to the ring and demand Joe Gacy to come to the ring with Rick Steiner's HOF ring. Gacy's voice is over the PA system and tells Bron that all he has to do is "come find me." Gacy's meniacal laughter ends the segment. Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett discuss the events and lead us into tonight - but here comes Daddy's Little Rich Girl before our first commercial break.

Last Saturday, Santos Escobar was watching a WWE video of Carmelo Hayes talking about the North American Championship. He comments about it saying that Hayes needs to go to the back of the line. We cut backstage to Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams commenting about Santos telling the former champ to go to the back of the line. Hayes and Escobar will be going one-on-one later tonight.

* Tiffany Stratton vs. Sarray

Tiffany gets in her face at first and works the arm, but Sarray fights back and even rolls her up for 1 and puts her in the deathlock then bridges back for the neck. Tiffany reaches the ropes to break, and speaking of the ropes that's where she attacks her opponent after she avoids the low dropkick. Tiffany applies a modified chinlock, hits a running shoulder, tope atomico, and gets a 2-count. Sarray comes back with a running dropkick, German suplex, and hits a double stomp from the middle ropes. Tiffany grabs her leg, but Sarray kicks her in the face, hits the sunray dropkick, and brings her back into the ring. Tiffany manages to headbutt her and hits the springboard corkscrew splash for the 3-count. WINNER: TIFFANY STRATTON.

GYV are walking backstage complaining about Pretty Deadly. Bron Breakker storms past them looking for his father, but all he finds is an empty cage with a replay of Joe Gacy taking his father hostage from a couple weeks ago playing on an iPad. Breakker slams the device down and storms off. Breaktime.

Backstage, Pretty Deadly are prancing backstage happy about their championship win. Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta flirt with them to get a title match, with Dexter Lumis and Duke Hudson. Pretty Deadly quickly back off to "think about it."

Grayson Waller gets interviewed backstage explaining why he fired Sanga last week. He blabs on until Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward show up for a teachable moment. Not long after, Sanga enters the area and chases Waller off and towards the ring. Sanga gets his hands on Waller in the ring, Waller hits a back elbow, the official referee is in the ring, and the match begins.

* Grayson Waller vs. Sanga

Waller punches him, Sanga clubs him on the back of the head, and gives him a huge biel across the ring SIX TIMES. Waller dropkicks him in the knee, Sanga hits a shoulder block, clobbers him on the back, gives him a sidewalk slam, and slams his head into the back. "NAMASTE!" Sanga hits an elbow drop to the back, Waller grabs the bottom rope at 2.5, Sanga body slams him, and Waller rolls out the ring. Waller sends him back into the announce table, counters the choke slam by shoving him into the ringpost, gets him back into the ring, gets a running start, and hits the rolling stunner for 3! WINNER: GRAYSON WALLER.

Waller has done it again and found a way to win. We get a video package for Cora Jade being in awe of Natalya coming making a surprise entrance last week. Cora even holds up an old picture of her with Natalya, tearss it up, and steps on Natalya's ripped-up face. Breaktime.

After the break, we get an introductory video package of a girl playing every WWE game every year. That girl's name is Roxanne Perez and she made her NXT 2.0 debut next week! However, Roxanne is backstage to be interviewed about her debut, she says she's nervous, but then Toxic Attraction show up to ridicule her. Instead of next week, Jacy Jayne dares her to move her debut up to TONIGHT!

* Legado Del Fantasma vs. Gibson & Drake

Legado come flying at Gibson and Drake as they were strategizing at ringside with tope con hilos! Raul Mendoza (now known as Cruz Del Toro) gets Drake in the ring and the bell dings, Joaquin Wilde tags in, double back elbow, electric chair double team and a 2-count. Gibson tags in, Wilde outsmarts them missile dropkick to Drake with an armdrag to Gibson, then a wheelbarrow facebuster for 1. Wilde clotheslines Gibson in the corner, Drake tags in, hits a step-up enzuigiri, and jumps off Gibson's back to dropkick Mendoza off the apron. Wilde tries a sunset flip, gets a 2-count, hits a tornado face plant, Gibson grabs his leg, and Wilde kicks him off to make the hot tag.

Del Toro a/k/a not-Mendoza takes down both men with a gamengiri, punches, chops, a clothesline, dropkick, and headscissors. Drake blocks a superplex, Gibson tags in, Del Toro hits a springboard super hurricanrana, and goes for the pin, but Gibson is the legal man and chops him in the throat. The crowd chants "Gibson sucks" as he tags out, Drake knocks Wilde off the apron, but Wilde comes back with a springboard cannonball to Gibson! Del Toro drops Drake with a DDT, helps Wilde wipe out Gibson on the floor, tags, Del Toro hits the gamengiri as Wilde hits the Russian legsweep tag team finisher for the win! WINNERS: LEGADO DEL FANTASMA!

Santos Escobar wants to keep the ball rolling as he wants his match with Carmelo Hayes next and tells Tony D'Angelo to watch how a true leader operates. Breaktime.

When we come back, Wes Lee gets interviewed and he's on his own. He says his past few weeks have been chaotic and a big part of him feels lost. Xyon Quinn shows up to tell him he's not running straight, but Wes Lee doesn't want to hear a lecture from him at this time. Quinn agrees with him, but also wants to teach him a lesson, so Wes says even with his doubts he's at home in the ring and being in the ring will bring peace to his chaos.

During the break, Fallon Henley attacked Elektra Lopez from behind and they had to be separated by Briggs and Jenson and Legado Del Fantasma but then even they got into it.

* Santos Escobar vs. Carmelo Hayes

They lock up collar-and-elbow, Escobar with a rear waitslock, clean break, Escobar takes him down but Hayes gets his foot on the bottom rope. Hayes clubs him on the back, headlock, in the ropes, almost a clean break but Hayes pie-faces him. Hayes puts him in a side headlock, hits a shoulder block, Escobar doesn't go down, back to the headlock, Escobar dropkicks him, and he's all smiles. Hayes drops him on the apron, Escobar kick him in the head, hits a dicving crossbody, and Wade Barrett notes that both men think championship which is why they're both are wearing gold attire. Trick Williams grabs Escobar's leg, Hayes hits a springboard clothesline, floats over his back, hits a pump kick, hiptosses blocked, and Hayes hits a neckbreaker before the break.

Hayes drops him once again, hits another elbow drop, covers for another 2-count, and puts him back in the chinlock. Santos counters with a jawbreaker, Carmelo throws him into the turnbuckles, but then Escobar throws him into the ringpost.

Hayes chops him in the throat, Escobar counters the springboard with a catch backbreaker, covers for 2, Hayes counters the half-and-half, applies the single leg crab, and Escobar has to crawl to the bottom rope. Hayes grounds him with a front chancery, Escobar counters with an inside cradle for 2, Hayes goes back to the chancery, Escobar counters with a snap suplex, and gets a near-fall. Hayes grabs him again, Esobar counters with a delayed vertical suplex, and both men are down again. They strike each other back and forth kneeling, standing and wobbling. Escobar hits a gamengiri, 10-punch, clothesline, forearm smash, throws him out the ring, and hits the charging suicide dive!

Escobar gets him back into the ring, two goombas show up on either side, one man strikes Escobar in the back of the knee with a crowbar, they throw him back into the ring, Hayes hits the top rope diving legdrop to the back of the head, and covers for the 3! The referee didn't see any of this happen because Trick slid a chair into the ring to distract him! WINNER: CARMELO HAYES!

Trick Williams tells the crowd to shut their mouths. Carmelo Hayes claims that in two weeks he will be the two-time North American Champion. The current NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes comes out and says Carmelo wasn't man enough to look him in the eyes to tell him he wants a match for the championship. Grimes says the he IS man enough to tell him that the match is on. Solo Sikoa was in the ring, superkicked Williams, and hits Hayes with a pop-up Samoan drop! Solo Sikoa immediately gets in the champ's face as the crowd chants Uce and he's man enough to say he's got next right to Cameron's face.

Bron Breakker steps out of an elevator, walks into a dark room, sees a bunch of mirrors on the face, sees Gacy in the reflection, and throws one of the mirrors in frustration because Gacy is NOT there. Breaktime.

Malcolm Bivens explains to Ivy Nile why she's in the UK over the phone, and Roderick Strong says she needs to dominate globally. In the locker room, Duke Hudson tries to strategize with Dexter Lumis and he can't understand him when his expressions don't change. Indi tells Duke to speak his language, so Duke stares at Dexter with crazy facial expressions. Indi says that doesn't work, Persia shows up, and Duke storms off in anger.

* Xyon Quinn vs. Wes Lee

Lee hits a running flip kick, body blows, dropkicks him out the ring, and hits a torpedo suicide dive! Quinn backs him into the ring apron, delivers a back suplex onto the apron, and covers for 2. Lee fights back, but he gets dropped after running into Quinn's forearms, Quinn does a charging shoulder tackle, sets him up on his shoulders, but Lee counters with an inside cradle for a near-fall. Quinn launches him up high for a big drop, Lee superkicks him, punches and kicks, dropkicks him in the back, slips on the springboard and Quinn hits a standing forarm smash. Quinn finishes the match with a hard running forearm smash for 1-2-3. WINNER: XYON QUINN.

Natalya gives her comments on Cora Jade saying that last week wasn't an attack, it was self-defense. She came to NXT before anybody could go to Raw or SmackDown and challenge her. Nikkita Lyons shows up, says she will take care of Lash Legend, and she's coming for Natalya afterwards. Natalya tells her she'll be screaming once she's in the Sharpshooter, but Nikkita tells her that she's flexible so she's not worried. Breaktime. Breaking news: in two weeks at NXT Spring Breakin', Cameron Grimes will defend the NXT North American Championship in a triple threat match against both Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikoa!

* NXT Tag Team Championship: Dexter Lumis & Duke Hudson vs. Pretty Deadly

Elton Prince starts the match against Lumis, Kit Wilson tags in as Prince goes for Dexter's leg for the distraction advantage, and Wilson goes on offense. Prince tags in, double shoulder block, legdrop/splash combo, and Prince covers for 1. Lumis sits up, uppercuts his stunned opponent, inverted atomic drop, glares at him, Wilson saves his partner, tags in, but Lumis catches him with another inverted atomic drop. Hudson tags in, they have miscommunication, tags out, calls for a double suplex, Lumis obliges, but Prince saves his partner. Pretty Deadly sneak up on Indi and Persia, until the ladies realize what's happening, Dexter and Duke pull the champs up and hiptoss them into the ring. Lumis hits the Thesz Press, running elbow drop, Hudson tags in, double delayed suplex, and Lumis gives him a thumbs up. Hudson gives him the thumbs up as well, and they're on the same page now! Hudson dominates now, clotheslines Wilson, then Lumis tags in and slithers towards him as we take our final commercial break.

The champs use distraction for the advantake, Prince is worried about this title defense, Hudson does an inside cradle for a near-fall, they collide in the ring, he tosses Wilson out the ring, but Wilson pulls Lumis off the apron, so Lumis throws Wilson into the steel steps. Prince knocks Lumis off the apron now, Hudson hits a powerslam, and covers for 1-2-NO! the crowd even chants "That was 3! That was 3!" The lights go out, Joe Gacy is standing in the balcony, tells Breakker that he's right here and not a hard man to find. Bron Breakker wastes no time storming out and makes his way to the balcony. Gacy tells him only to ask for the ring back if that's all he wanted, but in return Gacy wants a NXT Championship match in two weeks. Gacy places the ring into Breakker's vest pocket, tells him to take a leap of faith, and SHOVES HIM OFF THE BALCONY! Breakker is writhing in pain on the hard floor after landing, and several hooded figures surround him. That's how NXT 2.0 ends tonight - good night!
