NXT Vengeance Day 2023 - NEW Women's and Men's Tag Team Champions!

It's 2023, and NXT is on the road! The NXT superstars take the show to Charlotte, North Carolina for their first premium live event in the new year, Vengeance Day! The NXT Championship is on the line with Bron Breakker defending against Grayson Waller in a steel cage match! The New Day defend the NXT Tag Team Championships in a fatal 4-way match against Chase University, Pretty Deadly and Gallus. Also, both Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Title, Wes Lee defends the North American Championship against Dijak, the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles are on the line, and much more! Since NXT is in Charlotte, North Carolina, we have Charlotte Flair giving the introduction and opening video package for the show and highlighting each match scheduled. "This is Vengeance Day!" Vic Joseph and Booker T are the commentators and they are ready for this to start.

* NXT North American Championship: Wes Lee {C} vs. Dijak

Here we go with the first match of the night! They lock up collar-and-elbow, and Dijak easily shoves him down and tells him to just give up. Wes Lee gets him in a side headlock bringing him to a knee, Dijak pushes him off, and hits a shoulder block. "Stay down. Give me the North American Championship!" Wes sucks him in by laying down, kicks him in the head, the slides around to avoid him and gets him with a headscissors. Dijak tosses him onto the apron, Lee hits a shoulder to the gut, flipping into a headscissors, dropkicks him through the ropes, but Dijak catches him off the apron and slams him on the floor with a death valley driver/brainbuster! Dijak throws him back in for the first cover and gets a 2-count.

Dijak takes control from here with a beatdown in a corner, does a suplex throw, covers for 2, Lee strikes back with an uppercut, Dijak catches him, and swings him over the ropes to the floor below. Dijak throws the champ around at ringside, brings him back into the ring, gets back in at the count of seven, covers for 2 again, stomps on his midsection, and hits heavy strikes in the corner, then a running elbow strike. Wes Lee side-steps him charging in again, Dijak falls to the floor, Lee with a back kick, body blows, dropkicks him in the knee, and kicks him in the head. Dijak blocks German suplex, Wes Lee kicks him in the back of the head, and successfully delivers the dead-lift German suplex for a near-fall.

Both men battle it out on the apron, Dijak picks him up, Lee fights off, gives him a back drop from the apron to the floor, then hits a cartwheel backflip over the ropes! Lee gets him back into the ring, Dijak catches him off the backflip, Lee counters with the poison 'rana, and delivers the Michinoku Driver for 2.5! Lee goes up top, Dijak rolls out the way, Lee superkicks him, Dijak catches him off the ropes, delivers the High Justice choke slam, and gets 2.9! Dijak applies the crossface chickenwing, Lee throws him off, Dijak rolls through with him, Lee starts to fade in the middle of the ring, the referee checks Lee's arm, but Lee isn't done yet. Lee reaches for the ropes, Dijak picks him up, Lee counters Feast Your Eyes with a roll-up for 2, Lee counters it again and superkicks him. Lee hits a running knee, Dijak hits a big boot, covers for a near-fall, and he is shocked. Dijak blasts him with a lariat, covers, 1-2-NO! Dijak drags him to the corner, gets up to the middle ropes, pulls the champ up with him, goes for a powerbomb, but Wes Lee counters with a hurricanrana spiking him on his head! Wes Lee goes up top, hits the corkscrew senton, and covers for the one-two-th-KICKOUT!!!

That was a close near-fall!! Dijak rolls out the ring, counters a suicide dive by throwing him into the barricade, brings out a swivel chair, sits Lee down, traps him with a broom handle, superkicks him, goes up to the top rope, and goes for a diving moonsault but landed on Tony D'Angelo and Stacks sacrificing themselves and saving Lee! Dijak throws Lee back into the ring, yells at the goons to stay out of his business, goes for a springboard but Wes Lee superkicks him in mid-air, and hits the backflip Pele kick to the top of the head and covers for the 3-count! WINNER and STILL NXT North American Champion: WES LEE!

We go backstage with the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions for an interview. They say they have faces all types of teams to become the champs, and they are the longest-reigning women's tag champs in WWE history on any roster.

* NXT Women's Tag Team Champions: Fallon Henley & Kiana James vs. Katana Chance & Kayden Carter {C}

Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen accompany Henley and James to the ring for their match. Kiana and Kayden start the match, Kayden teases Jensen and slaps him on the ass, then hits James with a springboard dropkick. Katana tags in, they do their double-team with a senton, and Chance gets a 2-count. Fallon and Kiana have miscommunication, Katana escapes them, but the challenges take the champs down with clotheslines. The champs hit a combo of a legdrop and moonsault, and Katana gets a 2-count. Kiana tags in, drops Chance, gets a 2-count, beats her down, backflips into a running shoulder thrust, Fallon tags in and hits a running slam for 2. Fallon puts Chance in a chinlock, Kiana loves it, and Katana counters with an armdrag.

Kayden gets the tag, slams Henley down, punches James, splashes them in a corner, hits a running dropkick into a splash, running facewash, and pops Chance up for a crossbody onto both. Katana gets a 2-count back in the ring, hits a jawbreaker, Kiana tags in, and Katana takes her down with a headscissors. Kayden tags in, Kiana hits a spinebuster, gets a near-fall, Katana tags back in, Kiana blocks a moonsault with the knees up, and dumps Carter out the ring. Fallon tags in, hits a springboard blockbuster, a double powerbomb, Fallon covers, and Kayden breaks it up. Kayden avoids a moonsault from the apron and takes her down, so Brooks checks on his woman.

Fallon and Katana trade shots in the ring, Katana tosses her onto the apron, Kayden tags in, Fallon blocks the superplex, headbutts her, Katana tags back in, Fallon sits on Carters's shoulders, and Katana hits a top rope hurrianrana for 2.9! Kayden tags back in, Katana goes up top, Kiana shoves Chance down, Kayden rolls Henley up for 2, and Fallon covers while Kiana holds Carter's legs, and they get the 1-2-3 to end the long reign and become the new champions! WINNERS and NEW NXT Women's Tag Team Champions: FALLON HENLEY & KIANA JAMES!!

We get a video from Lyra Valkaria talking about Cora Jade getting in her business, days her time will come, and she will perish. Lyra issues a challenge for a match this Tuesday on NXT.

We get a video package for Apollo Crews since his NXT beginnings, his wins for the United States and Intercontinental Championships, and his return to NXT to be a contender for the NXT Championship; however, Carmela Hayes has his own opinions and feels HE is the true contender for the title. We get a special introduction from Trick Williams mentioning Hayes's accomplishments, then Hayes comes out and steps on a modded t-shirt with Crews's face on it with an X across. We get a highlight video of Apollo's accomplishments leading to his entrance.

* 2 out of 3 Falls Match: Carmelo Hayes vs. Apollo Crews

These two athletes size each other up, they lock up, quick grapple wrestling, and they get to their feet in a stalemate. They lock up again, Hayes takes him down, Apollo quickly counters, they trade holds back and forth, and another stalemate. Hayes with a rear waistlock, Crews with a side headlock, takedown, Hayes counters, Crews escapes back into the headlock, Hayes, counters but Crews puts him in the front facelock, Hayes escapes, leapfrogs over him, rolls off his back, and slaps him. Crews slaps him back knocking him down, puts him back in the headlock, floats over, leapfrogs, Hayes avoids a dropkick, Crews counters a dropkick, catapults him, Layes lands on his feet, and Crews dropkicks him in mid-air. Crews powers him into the turnbuckles upside-down, chops to the chest, hard Irish whip across the ring, hits a backbreaker, Hayes escapes a waistlock, and Crews counters a springboard with a German suplex.

Hayes hits a back elbow and throws him onto the apron, Crews jumps over him as Hayes slides out the ring, Trick Williams steps in front of them, Crews side-steps Hayes, clotheslines him on the floor, and Williams looks worried. Crews hits a diving moonsault from the apron so nice that we get a replay, then he bring shim into the ring, hits a tope atomico and gets a 2-count. Trick has a steel chair, sits down to watch the match for now, Crews gets Hayes in a standing delayed vertical suplex, gets a 2-count, and Trick Williams is already out of his chair. Hayes drops him on the top rope, Williams walks around at ringside with the chair, throws Apollo back into the ring, goes on the attack, covers for 2, puts him in a chinlock, drops him on the ropes, and cover for a 2-count again. Apollo fights back, Hayes short-arm clotheslines him, Crews answers with two German suplexes, Hayes lands on his feet from the next attempt, but Crews gives him a back drop.

Crews kicks him, clotheslines him twice, Hayes counters, Crews clotheslines him again, kips up, splashes him in the corner, tosses him onto the apron, hits an enzuigiri, and Trick starts praying outside the ring. Crews delivers a superplex pulling him from the apron, and covers for a near-fall. Crews hits a couple of knees to the side of the head, military presses him up, Hayes counters for the crossface, Crews counters with a 2-count, but Hayes comes back with the tilt-a-whirl slam and gets 2.5! Hayes delivers a suplex cutter, covers for 2, then applies the crossface, and Crews taps! Carmelo Hayes scores a fall, 1-0.

Crews gets back to his feet holding his shoulder, Hayes goes back on the attack, Crews fights back, Hayes throws him on the rope, Crews hits another German suplex, a second German suplex, a third German suplex, hits the standing shooting star press, and gets 2.5! Hayes cuts him off on the ropes, hits a gamengiri, kicks him in the back of the head, hits the Fade Away springboard legdrop, and gets another near-fall. Crews hits a blockbuster DDT, covers, and 1-2-NO! They get back on the ropes, Crews falls, fights back up, but they both knock each other down. Both men are about to get counted out, but they get back in just in time to save themselves. Hayes throws him off, Crews hits a jumping knee, blocks the crossface, hits the Angle Slam, Hayes hits a Codebreaker, Crews hits the Attitude Adjustment, and both men are down! Trick Williams removes the upper-left turnbuckle, cheers on his homie, Hayes kicks Apollo, but Crews powers up and shoves Hayes into the exposed turnbuckle!! Hayes rolls out the ring, Williams gets onto the apron with the chair, but in comes DABBA-KATO to drop Williams! Crews clotheslines Williams out the ring, salutes Dabakato, and Hayes surprises him with the springboard clothesline for the 1-2-3 and a clean sweep!! WINNER: CARMELO HAYES!

Dabba-Kato gets in the ring to check on Apollo, hugs him, HEADBUTTS him, then hits the sit-out choke bomb onto the steel chair!

Briggs and Jensen are cheering on the new Women's Tag Team Champions on their victory, and they're gonna go celebrate.

* NXT Tag Team Championship: Chase U vs. Pretty Deadly vs. Gallus vs. The New Day {C}

Elton Prince and Kofi Kingston start the match for their teams. Kingston hits a hurricanrana, Xavier Woods tags in, dumps him out the ring. Kit Wilson gets involved, Prince saves him, and Kingston hits Prince with a baseball slide to drop Wilson. Thea Hale shouts at Pretty Deadly for good measure. Woods lifts Prince in a delayed vertical, Duke Hudson tags in off of Woods and shoves Prince down. Hudson takes Prince down, Wilson tags in, Andre Chase tags in and chops Wilson. Mark Coffey tagged off of Chase and takes Wilson down, and Wolfgang tags in to do the same. Coffey tags back in to clobber Wilson down and Woods tags himself back in. Woods hits Coffey with body blows, but not for long. Wolfgang tags back in, fights with Woods, Prince tags himself in, beats down Woods, and delivers a suplex for 2. Wilson tags in, running elbow, 2-count, and bends back Woods's arm. They collide in the ring, Wilson hits elbow drops, Prince tags in, taunts all other teams, drops Woods, and now both men are down.

Kingston gets the hot tga, springboard axe handle to Prince, dropkicks him, jumping clothesline to Prince, Wilson and Coffey, and hits a New Day legdrop onto all of them!  Prince ducks Trouble in Paradise, but Kingston hits S.O.S. and the count is broken. Hudson clobbers the others, Wolfgang is back to attack, every man gets in the ring for an attack, and Pretty Deadly are back up with the advantage. Kingston dumps Wilson out the ring, gets the boots up to Prince's face, Woods tags in, they hit the Up Up Down Down, Kingston makes the cover, and every other team breaks it up!

The fight goes outside with the other competitors. Kingston and Chase fight on the turnbuckles, and Kingston gets thrown onto the pile! Wilson attacks Chase on the turnbuckles, sets up for a suplex, but Chase blocks him and superplexes Wilson onto the pile outside the ring! Gallus attack Chase, throw him into the announce table, Wolfgang takes it apart, but Hudson saves his mentor and finishes cleaning off the announce table. Pretty Deadly try to suplex Hudson, but he's too strong, they save each other from him, and Thea Hale yells at them as they replace the table cover. Back in the ring, Hudson clotheslines Pretty Deadly, jabs Wilson, hits the Bionic Elbow, clotheslines Prince in the corner, belly-to-belly suplex, hits Coffey with the flying forearm (a la HBK), and uses the ropes to kip up. Hudson tunes up the band, Coffey ducks out the ring, Hudson goes after him and Wolfgang, but Gallus gather together to SLAM HUDSON THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!

Gallus get back in the ring for Chase, who fights them off in his hometown, Chase dumps Wolfgang out the ring, hits Coffey with the Russian legdrop, then hits the C-H-A-S-E-U stomps follows by a crossbody for a near-fall! Chase applies the figure-4 leglock onto Coffey, but Wolfgang breaks it up with the Swanton Bomb! Coffey hits the jumping kick, Wolfgang powerslams Chase, and Coffey covers for 2.9! Kingston comes back in to save the titles, gets on the ropes, but Pretty Deadly catch him diving off the top, and they drop him with Spilt Milk on the floor! Woods knocks Pretty Deadly off the apron, forearm to Coffey, gets up top, Wolfgang catches him in mid-air, Gallus drop Woods with the forearm/powerslam combo, and Coffey pins the champ for the 1-2-3!! Gallus boys on top in NXT! WINNERS and NEW NXT Tag Team Champions: GALLUS!!

We get a video package for the three women fighting over the women's championship. Can Rocanne Perez beat the odds? Will Gigi Dolin or Jacy Jayne work together long enough in this match where it's every woman for herself? Will one of Toxic Attraction allow the other to win the title?

* NXT Women's Championship: Gigi Dolin vs. Jacy Jayne vs. Roxanne Perez {C}

The match begins with Roxanne being surrounded, she tries to fight them off, Jacy blocks an uppercut, Gigi kicks her as she's being held up, and Toxic Attraction are in control. Roxanne tries a crossbody but she's caught, Gigi hits a backbreaker and Jacy hits a big boot. Roxanne side-steps a boot, rolls Jayne up for 2, Thesz Press to Dolin, but Jacy attacks her from behind. Roxanne side-steps the double-team, they almost hit each other, she dropkicks the both of them, double wristlocks, into double armdrags, and hits the low dive to Dolin. Jacy goes for a cannonball dive off the apron, but hits Dolin as Perez side-stepped her!

Roxanne gets Jayne back into the ring, hits a twisting senton, gets a 2-count, goes for a crossface, Jacy counters with a pin for 2, hits a neckbreaker, and slams her head on the mat. Jacy hits chops to the chest, kicks her on the back, covers for 2, then puts her in a chinlock. Roxanne counters with an armdrag, Jacy drops her, and Gig pulls her out the ring to yell at her telling her to focus and work with her... but Gigi pulls Jayne into the line of attack by Perez! Gigi attacks Perez at the steel steps, throws her into the barricade, and calls herself the next champion. Roxanne and Gigi fight on the apron, Gigi slams her down on the apron, slams her in the ring, makes the cover, but Jacy pulls her off the cover. Jacy makes the cover, Gigi breaks it up, they go face-to-face, the crowd wants a fight, Jacy shoves her, Gigi shoves her back, Jacy slaps her, Gigi slaps her back harder, blocks a neckbreaker, Jacy with a jackknife pin for 2, Gigi counters for 2, and Roxanne lands a diving crossbody to both!

Roxanne knocks them down with hammer fists, kips up, running uppercuts in opposite corners, Russlan legsweep and DDT to both women, and she covers both for near-falls. Jacy counters an uppercut, puts Perez in the tree of woe in front of Dolin, and hits the running cannonball. Jacy hits the running knee to Perez, covers, and Gigi breaks the count. Gigi and Jacy trade punches, Jacy hits the discuss forearm, Roxanne with an inside cradle for 2, crucifix pin for 2, Jacy throws her into the corner for a back-splash, Roxanne ducks a swing, but Gigi is back in to take out both, suplexes Perez, makes the cover, and Jacy breaks it up with a senton!

All three women are down, the crowd chant for Roxy and Gigi, they all trade shots while kneeling, Roxanne is on the offense with forearm shots, they both superkick her, they headbutt each other, and they fall onto Perez who has to kick out! They throw the champion out the ring, they call for the table, bringing it from under the ring, Roxanne fights them off, and hits Dolin with POP ROX ON THE FLOOR! Back in the ring, Roxanne fights off Jayne, goes up top, Jacy cuts her off, Roxanne blocks the superplex, Gigi is back up on the apron, but Perez kicks Dolin knocking her down through the table on the floor! Roxanne hits Jayne with POP ROX FROM THE TURNBUCKLES for the win!! WINNER and STILL NXT Women's Champion: ROXANNE PEREZ!

We get a commercial for the WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event in two weeks. It's mow time for the main event! Grayson Waller comes out first with a golden show on a pillow, apparently to bring champagne out of for when he wins. The NXT Champion Bron Breakker heads out after, bursting through a Waller poster. This steel cage match has only pin and submission stipulations.

Waller attacks Breakker as he gets on the apron! He beats him down at ringside to gain some advantage, and side-steps him at the barricade and celebrates, but Breakker stopped short and goes on the attack. Breakker slams the cage door into Waller's face, brings him into the ring, and steps in slamming the door shut to get the match officially underway.

* NXT Championship - Steel Cage Match: Grayson Waller vs. Bron Breakker {C}

Waller scales the cage but Breakker grabs him and brings him back down to go at it, but Waller strikes back. Breakker hits a charging clothesline, marching delayed vertical suplex, kips up, and a standing moonsault. Waller punches him, runs away, another forearm, tilt-a-whirl DDT, and gets a 1-count, mocking the bark sounding like a chihuahua. Waller tries to shove him into the cage but Breakker stops him, catches him for a belly-to-belly suplex, hits shoulder tackles, catches him for a powerslam, goes up top and hits a diving bulldog. Waller rolls out the way but the cage stops him from escaping, so he side-steps him, Breakker crashes into the cage, and Waller covers for 2.

Waller punches him over and over, throws him into the cage, covers for 2, push-ups, taunts him, and splashes him against the cage. Breakker catches him, Waller rakes the eyes, throws him into the cage again, hits a flipping facebuster, suplex, and gets on the ropes. Breakker cuts him off, runs up for a FRANKENSTEINER, and covers for a near-fall. Breakker gets up on the ropes, Waller hits a jumping knee in mid-air, hits the crossover diving elbow drop from the top rope, and gets a near-fall! Waller traps the champ's arms in the ropes, hits body blows and jabs, dropkick to the ribs, mocks him some more, and hits a running shoulder tackle.

Breakker fires up, frees himself, Waller gets shook, scales the ropes, Breakker throws him down, throws him into the cage several times, and even press slams him into the cage. Waller leapfrogs the Spear, hits a low blow, lands the Cutter, and covers for 2.5! Both men are down, Waller yells at him, Breakker is laying prone in the middle of the ring, Waller gets an idea to go ALL THE WAY UP, looking for that viral moment, Breakker is back up on his feet, Waller panics, and Breakker grabs him a BIG SUPERPLEX and hits the SPEAR! Instead of going for the cover, Breakker looks down at his challenger, gets in his face, "This is MY dog pound! I run NXT!" Waller pie-faces him, Breakker hits a powerful RUNNING SPEAR, and gets the 1-2-3!! WINNER and STILL NXT Champion: BRON BREAKKER!

Bron Breakker stands atop the cage with his NXT Championship to celebrate his victory. Carmelo Hayes walks out with Trick Williams by his side to see the champ in person, signifying that he wants next. That's all for NXT Vengeance Day, good night!
