The www.sherdog.com website is reporting that former NFL football player turned new MMA fighter Johnnie Morton was indefinitely suspended by the California State Athletic Commission after the 35-year-old from Torrance, California refused to take his post-fight anti-doping test. CSAC Executive Officer Armando Garcia told Sherdog that Morton will not be paid the $100,000 purse he was slated to receive after fighting the Ivory Coast's Bernard Ackah. As noted during our live recap, Ackah nailed Morton with a fight-stopping punch only 38 seconds into the first round and the former USC Trojan appeared to be out cold. Paramedics rushed to attend to Morton and carried him out of the ring on a stretcher, but he he was alert and conscious later at the hospital. It's not clear why he refused to give a post-fight sample, but Morton did provide a sample prior to the fight Garcia indicated would be tested. Morton's MMA career may be over regardless of the test results or his suspension for refusing a post-fight test due to the devestating knockout as it's unlikely many athletic commissions would risk sanctioning him for a future fight.
