It's late, but, hey, ya gettin' it for free, ain'tcha? ;-) Welcome to the return of the "Better Late than Never" WWE Raw Recap, folks! Before we get started, I have a slight small tiny AngryMarks rant. I'd like to thank the fine folks at Time Warner Cable for helping me get this report done. Without them, I would have been able to watch Raw on Monday night, but due to their recent TV problems in my area, I missed part of it. I'd also like to thank the FINE, technically inept folks at Time Warner's RoadRunner Internet service, without whom I would have had this report posted online TUESDAY MORNING. Apparently they think I only need 20 minutes of continuous service a day, so that's what they've delivered me. THANK YOU!

We start with WWE Raw GM Johnathan Coachman in his office addressing the audience. Coachman thanked us for watching the Great American Bash, but we have to move on because in five weeks it will be Summer Slam, and it is time to find a new #1 contender for the WWE Championship. He will be watching tonight's Raw to determine that. And tonight, the main event will be a special no-DQ "Champions Only" match, WWE Champion John Cena & WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle taking on WWE Intercontinental Champion Umaga and WWE World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. WHAT? WTF? I guess they're gonna steal the thunder from TNA's "all titles on the line" main event for TNA Hard Justice.

We cue the intro, come back to Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler informing us that tonight Randy Orton will square off against Cody Rhodes. We then go to the ring which is decked out in royal red carpeting and a table with a modest feast. We're then introduced to King Booker & Queen Sharmel. We flash back to last week's Raw, where King Booker confronted Jerry "the King" Lawler about his ue of the title "King". Lawler got the upper hand, and tonight King Booker is back. He steps into the ring, Queen Sharmel prepares his seat for him. King Booker takes a mic, and addresses "Jerome" Lawler. He says that they got off on the wrong foot last week, they're both civilized and there's no reason that they can't settle their differences. He invites Lawler into the ring and join him for a feast, and debate before the fans why there should be "one true king" for the WWE. Lawler takes off his headset, picks up in crown and steps into the ring. He invites Lawler to set at the other end of the table, which has a half-eaten donut and a cup of coffee, King Booker says that he has spared "no expense". He asks Lawler how he is, Lawler starts to speak, and the mic malfunctions.

While Lawler is waiting for a new mic, King Booker addresses why he should be "King". He says he earned the title with his King of the Ring tournament win in 2006, and it isn't something you just can't call yourself. He gives the example of the NBA's Sacramento Kings, a team that has won nothing and probably only won thanks to the efforts of a referee who may have fixed some games. He asks if Ron Artess should be king. He then asks if "Jerome" should be king, King Booker says "no". He then asks if the self-proclaimed "King of Kings", Triple H, should be king. The fans pop and King Booker says "Hell no!".

Jerry Lawler starts to speak his side, and Queen Sharmel stands up, takes a mice and proclaims "ALL HAIL ... KING BOOKAH!!" The fans respond with a huge "You suck!" chant. Lawler says that he'll make it quick and simple. A king is only as good as his kingdom, and if the fans don't think he's a king, then he isn't a king, and the fans just indicated that they don't think he's much of a king. Both him and the fans think King Booker is a "pompous, idiotic, self-delusional, royal pain in the arse!", with Lawler lifting his pinky finger for emphasis. The fans cheer, King Booker stands up and demands for silence, the fans boo him more. King Booker says that he will not stand for any insolence, and tells Lawler if he really fells this way, he "defies" Lawler to look him in the eyes and say it to his face.

The two men stare each other down. Lawler says he's got a better idea, and then delivers a stiff right to Booker's head. Booker falls back, Lawler goes after him with more rights. Lawler kicks him until he rolls out of the ring, grabs Booker's platter of fruit and throws it on him, then raises his crown in victory. Queen Sharmel holds Booker back and pushes him back up the ramp as Lawler's music plays. We recap the punch, we come back with Booker proclaiming "I'm gonna get chu! Youse mine, Jerry!"

We go to break with Melina Perez & Beth Phoenix walking backstage to the ring. We come back with a thank you to the fans for ordering the Great American Bash PPV.

Melina Perez & Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James & Maria Kanellis (w/ Santino Marella)

Maria blows her kisses to the crowd, then one to Marella. Marella "catches" it and rubs it into his cheek. AWWW. Ain't love sweet? Marella goes down to the broadcast booth as Maria gets in the ring.

Perez wraps Kanellis up in a sleeper, then clubs Kanellis in the back several times, then rubs her face in the mat. Marella is trying to encourage Kanellis from the announcer's table, while praising her looks and wrestling ability. The referee breaks it, but Perez kicks Kanellis in the ribs, then straddles her back and pulls up on the ahir. Kanellis trips Perez, tries for a tag, Perez tries to stop her, but Kanellis makes the hot tag to James.

Perez tries to take out James, but James stops her, hits another huracanrana over the top rope, runs over and takes out Beth Phoenix with an elbow, turns around and hits the Thesz Press on Perez, ref breaks it. Maria goes up to the top turnbuckle, Marella gets excited and says that he just taught Maria this move ... A FLYING CROSS BODY BLOCK! ZOMG! He taught her that?? No kidding! I guess he also taught her how to hook the leg on the pin, too! Kanellis gets a two-count on the pin as Beth Phoenix runs in to break it, then takes out James with a kick, knocking her off the apron.

Marella proclaims he can't atke this anymore. Phoenix taunts James back into the ring for the referee to distract, then try to double-team Kanellis. They whip Maria off the ropes, Marella runs over and trips Phoenix & Perez as they near the ropes. Maria recovers and grabs Perez by the hair, nails a bulldog, rolls her over and gets the pin while Marella feigns innocence.

Maria leaps up and cheers, grabs Mickie James from behind and cops a full-on feel! Hey! Get yer hands off Mickie's boobs! You can't do that on... HEY! Marella runs into the ring and cops his own feel on Mickie from behind as well! What is this, some hippie WWE love-in?? Marella hugs then both, then scoops up Maria and twirls her around in a huge embrace. Men, I tell ya ...

We go to a promo for John Cena's win over Bobby Lashley at the Great American Bash, with recaps and stills from the match. Then a reminder of the "Champion's Only Match" for the main event of the show. We go to break, come back to the WWE Rewind, Randy Orton's win over "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes in the Texas Bull Rope match at the Great American Bash PPV. Cody Rhodes runs in to save his father from Orton after the match.

We shift backstage where Gerald Briscoe is giving Cody Rhodes some advice when Randy Orton comes up and spins the young Rhodes around. He tells Cody that Dusty must not have taught him any common sense, he says that he didn't kick in Dusty's head last night out of pity. Cody tells Orton that he didn't do it because he's afraid. Orton tells him that tonight he's going to learn a serious consequence, and if he wants to back out with his dignity, he still can. Cody marches off and tells Orton he'll see him in the ring. Orton tells Cody that he's doing this to himself.

We then get a promo for Gene Snitsky talking about how he enjoys hurting people. Who cares? Not me. Moving on, Todd Grisham is backstage to interview John Cena. Grish contratulates Cena on his victory, then wants some comments on tonight's "Champions Only Match". Cena then says his dream is about to get ruined "by the cast of Brokeback Mountain and Umaga!" Grisham looks like he's frighten, Cena tells him that this is his reality tonight. Grisham recovers and asks Cena his mindset on Coachman looking for a new #1 Contender. Cena says that his last three battles have been against Shawn Michaels, the Great Khali, and "the best pure athlete this business has ever seen", Bobby Lashley. He says Coachman can go ahead and name his #1 contender, he's got a message for him: "I'm always right here. And if you want some, come get some!" Commercial.

Sandman & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. William Regal & Carlito Colon

As we come back to Raw, Sandman is introduced from the crowd. Duggan is introduced next from the ramp. Lawler makes a comment about "all these men with their wood in their hand". Regal introduced third, and DAMN does his robe look pimp! Carlito Colon enters last, and he looks like Regal's nappy-headed ho! Carlito leaps up on the apron, Sandman chases him off with his kendo. Everybody eventually gets into the ring.

We come back with Regal & Carlito backstage talking about who is going to be the #1 Contender. Carlito says that things are going his way, he takes a bite of his apple, then gets a sour look on his face. Carlito looks around for a place to spit, turns his head and blows it out his mouth. Carlito then does a double-take as the camera pans out and we see Bobby Lashley wiping apple slobber off his face. Carlito tries to apologize, then bails and runs. He runs out into the ring, rolls through the ring, grabs a mic off the announcer's table and then gets back into the ring. Carlito says that sometimes accidents happen in life, and even though he shouldn't happen to apologise for an accident, he wants to do so! He says he is sorry, he knows Lashley will accept it, and if he does, not to say or do anything.

After a period of slience, Carlito says that he knew he'd accept it. Then Lashley's music fires up, and one pissed off man marches out to the ring. Carlito tries to apologize again, but he sees Lashley isn't going to accept it. As Lashley leaps up onto the apron, Carlito bumrushes him with a kneelift and knocks him off.
