* Donald Matthew Grice vs. Jason Black
First round has Grice coming out aggressively to threw Black to the canvas. Black then went from a Kimura from his back, but Grice was able to clear his opponent's guard to escape the hold. Black again went for a Kimura from the bottom, and had it deep as time expired. Sherdog shows it for Grice 10-9.
In round two Grice hit Black with a left hand that sent him to the canvas. Grice blasted away with strikes from the top but didn't finish the fight. Black then rolled Grice over and slapped on a triangle-choke from the top position and returned the favor with vicious punches to the head of Grice. Black continues to tee off as the round came to a close so you could easily score it either way.
Grice started with a punch that backed Black up but Grice dropped levels for a takedown. Black immediately took guard with a guillotine choke. Grice escaped and controlled his opponent for the duration of the bout from the top. Black had nothing in the third. The judges see it 29-28 for Grice, 29-28 for Black, and 28-28. The bout is ruled a draw... at first. Apparently the judges' scorecards were wrong and Grice is in fact the winner. The revised scores were not announced to the crowd.
* Forrest Petz vs. Josh Burkman
Burkman clinched to start the bout and tripped Petz, but Petz then used the cage to work to his feet. Burkman locked in a guillotine choke. Petz escaped but fell victim to another Burkman takedown. 10-9 for Josh Burkman off the takedowns.
Petz took control to start round two, avoiding an early takedown and landing multiple strikes from several angles. Bodyshots and knees in the clinch make Petz a fairly clear 10-9 favorite for this round.
Petz controlled most of the final round with punches before he was dropped with a left hook three minutes in. Burkman then went for a guillotine and finished the round strong with strikes from the top. Judges score the fight of 29-28, 29-28 for Josh Burkman. Another saw it 29-28 for Petz. Josh Burkman wins via split decision.
* Demian Maia vs. Ryan Jensen
Maia quickly took the action to the canvas with a low single-leg takedown, then Maia took Jensen's back as Jensen fought to avoid a choke for about 90 seconds. Eventually Maia sunk his arm under Jensen's neck and forced a tapout. Maia wins at 2:40 of R1 via rear-naked choke.
* Jason 'The Athlete' MacDonald vs. Yushin Okami
In the first round MacDonald tried early to take the fight to the floor, but Okami defended well and pawed away with a jab. With a minute left Okami scored with left hooks and a crisp combo. 10-9 for Okami.
Second round had both fighters traded punches in the opening minute. Okami defended the takedown well then tripped MacDonald and landed with heavy punches in the guard. MacDonald picked the ankle from below, but Okami recovered and retook the top. Another round for Okami.
More of the same in round three. All three judges see the bout 30-27 for Yushin Okami. That's the final dark match folks. Hit the main page of AngryMarks for the UFC 77 PPV Results. We will be updating live throughout the show!
