News coming in from Figure Four Weekly and Sherdog at this hour is that after two hours of attempting to cut weight, Paulo Filho came in at 189.5 pounds, missing weight by 4.5 pounds in his scheduled WEC middleweight title defense against Chael Sonnen tomorrow in Hollywood, FL on a live Versus special. As a result the match has been changed to a non-title at a catch weight of 189.5 pounds, with Filho forfeiting 25% of his purse in the deal to get Sonnen to agree to the match. This was the final WEC middleweight title match regardless, as the division is being dropped so that champion and top contenders are moved to UFC beginning in 2009. Here are the other weigh-in results from Sherdog:
Urijah Faber (144.5) vs. Mike Thomas Brown (145)
Paulo Filho (189) * vs. Chael Sonnen (184.5)
