The WWE Raw Recap - Orton's Homecoming or Pink Slip?
Hit F5 for the latest updates!

After a HOT Royal Rumble, Randy Orton is your main event headliner for WrestleMania 25. But will he face repercussions from his attack of Mr. McMahon last week? Also we have a new WWE Women's Champion, Melina Perez! We'll hear more about this tonight, but we also have a WWE World Tag Team Match tonight between champions Miz & Morrison against Cryme Tyme, and we will also start the qualifying matches for the Elimination Chamber main event at WWE No Way Out next month!

We start out tonight's Raw with a slow-motion recap of last week's events involving Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Randy Orton, with echoes of Randy Orton's lyrics "I hear voices in my head / they come to me, they understand / they talk to me", as if it's all a mysterious spirit driving Orton's actions unconsciously.

We then fade to black and transition to the arena, where Lillian Garcia introduces Randy Orton as the 2009 Royal Rumble winner. Orton comes out with the Legacy - Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Jr - backing him up... as well as a trio of individuals in business suits. I'm assuming that it's either Orton's legal team or WWE's legal team.

"My name is Randy Orton," he says, "and I would like to introduce my lawyers and therapist, and the other members of Legacy, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase." LOL, yep, I was right! "Now the reason that I am out here is to discuss the events last week on Raw. Now, as all of you know, I am a third generation superstar. The WWE is in my blood, it is a part of me... but... unfortunately, something else is a part of me.  Something... that I have been living with for quite some time. It's called I.E.D. - Intermittent Explosive Disorder."

Orton then takes a letter from one of the men in a suit and reads it. "I.E.D. affects 16 million Americans. It is a medical condition that, when an individual is provoked, results in acts of extreme physical violence. After being slapped and insulted by Stephanie McMahon last week, I had become sufficiently provoked!" Orton goes on to say that he was not responsible for what happened last week, WWE knew of his medical condition, and that if Orton is fired tonight he will file a lawsuit against WWE and the McMahons for wrongful termination.

"That is not the only lawsuit," Orton continues. "Last night I won the 2009 Royal Rumble, proving that I am superior to everybody in this company. If I am fired then I will sue for breach of contract for what I am rightfully due!" Orton says that if he is fired tonight, WWE will also lose Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Jr. "When it comes to superstars on the Raw roster, there will virtually be none left!" And, WOW, this is really true!

"And with all of that said, I have one more piece of business to attend to." Orton takes another letter from another suit. "I do apologize for the trauma that befell Mr. McMahon last week. I apologize for the trauma that his family is now suffering. As a father of a newborn I now recognize and appreciate the anguish that the McMahon family must be experiencing. My hope is that we can put this ugly incident behind us and move forward." The fans start a "YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!" chant. "AGAIN, I am a man of honor... I offer my sincerest apologies to Mr. McMahon, to his family, and to all of you." The fans are not buying his canned sincerity. "Thank you," he concludes. His music plays and the fans rain down jeers.

Michael Cole and Jerry "the King" Lawler summarizes Orton's statements, Lawler isn't buying the apologies read off of a letter, and isn't buying the explanation that he has a medical condition. "What kind of wrestler brings out two attorneys and a therapist out here!?", says Lawler. Backstage, Stephanie McMahon is seen i her office watching all of these events go down as we go to first commercial.

WWE World Tag Team Championship: champions 2008 Slammy Award Winners John Morrison & Mike "the Miz" Mizanin vs. Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG)

Cryme Tyme comes out first, and we go into a replay of last Monday's Raw where Cryme Tyme goaded Miz & Morrison into a title shot if they could win a match against them last week. Morrison & Mizanin are introduced next, and they don't look none to pleased to be having to defend the titles under these conditions, but they nonetheless enter the ring and arrogantly show off the titles in front of their adversaries for the night.

Mizanin starts off with an armbar on JTG, JTG escapes but he's put in the corner, whipped out but JTG reverses it, connects with some knees, covers Mizanin and gets a two count. Mizanin whipped into the corner, JTG charges and gets floated over, but JTG holds onto the rope, fights off Morrison on the outside, but Mizanin with a drop toehold to take him off the apron. Morrison throws JTG back in, Mizanin covers, two count.

Mizanin tags in Morrison, and together they lay the boots to JTG, Morrison pulls him out and stomps him in the chest, lays in some ground 'n pound, arrogant cover, two count. Morrison applies a reverse chinlock as Shad Gaspard cheers on JTG from the corner. JTG tries to escape, Morrison cuts him off, goes for a suplex, JTG escapes, rolls through and makes the hot tag. Gaspard with a pair of clotheslines for Morrison and a sucker punch for Mizanin on the side. Gaspard with a HUGE Beil Toss on Morrison, goes to attack, gets a boot in his face. Morrison charges with another boot, Gaspard with a scoop slam, a cover, two count.

Morrison tries to go for the Snapshot, Gaspard counters it into a Urinage, cover, two count. Mizanin comes in and JTG runs in to cut him off, Gaspard puts a big boot in Mizanin's face to knock him off the apron. Morrison kicks Gaspard from behind, turns around and delivers the Moonlight Drive, cover 1-2-3.

WINNERS and STILL CHAMPIONS, John Morrison & Mike Mizanin.  We then go back over to the announcer's table where Lawler tells us, "If there's one thing that I know, it is that Mr. McMahon lives by the motto, 'The show must go on.' And tonight we will be going on with the Elimination Chamber." We then segue into a promo video for the Elimination Chamber at the the WWE No Way Out. PPV. Lawler then comes back and announces that for the first time, both the WWE Championship and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be defended at the PPV in Elimination Chamber matches.

John Layfield's music hits, and he comes out to announce that he wanted to make everybody aware of a special Elimination Chamber qualifying match this evening, where Shawn Michaels will wrestle as a proxy for Layfield. "And when Shawn wins, I will automatically be entered into the Elimination Chamber match. Shawn's opponent tonight is the man he defeated two weeks ago... John Cena." Layfield walks off, the fans go nuts, Lawler and Cole can't believe it and we go to commercial!

Also tonight: the world television premiere of the trailer for John Cena's new movie, 12 Rounds. Oooh, can't wait for another FAIL~!

ELIMINATION CHAMBER QUALIFYING MATCH: Kofi Kingston vs. Kane

Kofi Kingston participated in his first-ever Royal Rumble match, and tonight with a win he'll move on to his first Elimination Chamber match. Kane enters next, and he looks quite happy to be facing Kingston. I'd say his chances look pretty good of being in that title match.

Kingston starts out with kicks to the legs, bounces off the ropes, goes for the cross-body block and gets slammed by Kane. Kane off the ropes with a dropkick to the head, then picks up Kingston by his mug, plant him in the corner and punch holes in his body. Kane headbutts Kingston into another corner, whips him out, charges and connects with a clothesline that takes his head off. Kane with the cover, 1-2-kickout by Kingston.

Kane pulls up Kingston by his dreadlocks, puts him in the corner again, elbow to the mouth, whips him out, charge, but Kingston escapes, charges and eats a boot from Kane. Kane goes to the outside, climbs to the top turnbuckle... Clothesline from Hell? YES! He connects, Kingston looks DEAD! Kane takes his time and sets up for the Chokeslam... Kingston scrapes himself up off the mat, and connects with an Enziguri that takes Kane off his feet! Kingston with a windmill kick, Kane picks him up for a chokeslam, but Kingston rolls over the top, pulls Kane over into a pin, 1-2-3!

WINNER: Kofi Kingston. Holy crap! What a win for Kingston! Kane can't believe what just happened, and neither can Kingston! He high-tails it out of the ring QUICK while celebrating his win.  We then show the front-page of WWE.com announcing Randy Orton's win at the Royal Rumble last week, then they replay... and replay... and replay again Orton kicking the head off of Mr. McMahon's shoulders. Later tonight Shawn Michaels faces WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match, and if Michaels wins, John Layfield is going into that match against the WWE World Heavyweight Champion! We go to commercial with highlights from the matches at the Royal Rumble. Great show, and if you didn't see it, go read my recap and then ORDER IT ON THE PPV REPLAY!

BREAK THE WALLS DOWN~! Chris Jericho comes out onto the top of the ramp. "Recently wrestling fans and critics have been talking about the movie The Wrestler. Let's take a look." We then segue into highlights from the movie and comments from the director Darren Aronofsky and main star Mickey Rourke. Jericho continues, "Now one of those who gave rave reviews of this film is WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Now, Flair has to stay in the spotlight, and him and Mickey Rourke have become good friends. But he's crossed the line when last night Mickey Rourke had this to say about me." We then throw a clip from tonight's Access Hollywood, with comments from Rourke last night basically calling out Jericho and saying that Ric Flair and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has been training him.

"I'm going to say this very slowly - Mickey Rourke, you're out of line! It's one thing to play a wrestler in a movie, but it's another thing to actually be one! I am deeply offended, and, believe me, it's the last thing you ever want to do is offend Chris Jericho! " Jericho leaves the stage.

We go backstage to John Layfield and Shawn Michaels. Shawn says, "John, don't make me do this again! Don't do this to me." Layfield fires back, "Superkicking me, yeah, brilliant!"

"I did what I had to do to distract him," Michaels responds, "I superkicked him, I went and got a second referee! I did everything that I could, I assumed..." "You assumed!"  thunders Layfield back in his face. "You assumed this would work. You assumed somebody was also watching your money, too... are you also going to assume that you will beat John Cena, or are you going to get the job done tonight? You win your match tonight, then I got to the Elimination Chamber. If I win there, then I go on to WrestleMania 25 as the World Champion. You've got one more... last chance... to beat Cena. Right now."  Commercial.

Back to the show, we watch a promo for WrestleMania, giving a tribute and a synopsis of the original WrestleMania PPV on March 31, 1985, bringing together not only wrestling superstars but some of the biggest icons in arts and entertainment.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER QUALIFYING MATCH: WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels (w/ John Layfield) (non-title match)

This is an odd qualifying match because, as of now, Cena is already qualified for the match by virtue that he is the World Heavyweight Champion. If Cena loses, he's still in and he doesn't lose the title. However, Michaels is his opponent, and if Michaels wins, it will not be Shawn Michaels that moves on, but his boss John Layfield. Michaels and Layfield are introduced first, followed by Cena.

The fans are solidly behind Cena tonight as Cena and Michaels meet nose-to-nose in the center of the ring, and then erupt into a flurry of fists. Michaels backs Cena up into the corner and lights up his chest with chops. Michaels whips him out to the corner, Cena reverses and then catches Michaels with a bulldog, but Michaels shoves him off, spins around and Cena nails him with a slap so hard that Michaels falls. Michaels gets to his feet, Cena tries to go for the Throwback, Michaels escapes and rolls to the outside to gather his thoughts, Layfield immediately telling Michaels to get back into the ring. Michaels steps up onto the apron as we go to commercial.

Back to the show, Cena just tried to go for a pin, Michaels kicks out and immediately goes for a Figure Four Leglock, but Cena successfully reverses it, Michaels is forced to break. Cena with a sweet belly-to-belly suplex, cover, two count, Cena transitions into a reverse chinlock on the mat. Michaels works his way back up to his feet, throws a few punches, breaks, bounces off the ropes, Cena with a back body drop. Michaels wenches in pain, his back stiffening up. Cena takes a breather, pulls up Michaels by his hair, whips him into a corner HARD and Michaels bounces out and falls on his back, again writhing in pain. Cena pulls up Michaels again, punch to the face, whip off the ropes, Cena ducks down and Michaels kicks him in the face, chop to the chest, right hand to the head. Michaels whips Cena off the ropes, reversal and Michaels with the flying forearm smash followed by the kip-up, the atomic drop, a right hand and a scoop slam.

Michaels staggers to the ropes, steps outside, goes for the top turnbuckle but Cena charges at him. Michaels cuts him off with a shoulder block through the ropes and a forearm smash, steps inside and Cena with the drop toehold into the STF, Michaels escape. Cena with a pair of shoulderblocks off the ropes, ducks a wild clothesline and nails Michaels with a side slam. Cena takes another breather, looks around the arena and calls for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. But as Cena waves the hand into Michaels' face, YOU CAN'T SEE ME, Michaels certainly did see it, snatches up the arm and pulls Cena down into a crossface submission! Cena is down for a minute, but then powers up... only to fall flat again. His face is turning purple, the blood being cut off!

Referee asks Cena if he gives up, and Cena gets his second win, he picks up Michaels on his shoulders, he's going for the Throwback, Michaels throws elbows, Cena staggers to the ropes, grabs them, referee forces a break, but then he immediately trips Michaels and goes for the STF! Michaels scrambles for the ropes, reaching out for the bottom rope. Referee is in his face, asking him to submit. The referee turns around and warns Layfield to NOT touch the ropes! Michaels moves around and successfully and cleanly reaches the ropes, Cena is forced to break the hold.

Michaels is limp on the mat, arm dragged over the bottom rope. Cena slowly works his way up, comes around and sets up for the Throwback again as Michaels pulls himself up by the ropes. Michaels turns around, Cena catches him, Michaels slides through, roll-up, cover 1... 2... kickout! Michaels immediate puts Cena in the corner, chop, whips him out, another headbutt in the opposite corner followed by a chop, another whip out, but Cena reverses and Michaels flips upside down into the corner, but flips back out and catches Cena with a clothesline! Both men are down! Michaels sits up... Cena is now the lame man on the mat. Michaels gets to his feet, grabs Cena by the head, pulls him up, scoop slam, but Michaels falls down, holding his back.

Michaels drags himself to the ropes, pulls himself up, hes going up but Layfield comes over and tells him to cover him or go for the superkick. "Superkick him," Layfield screams! Michaels retorts, "I'm doing it my way!" Michaels goes up for the elbow drop, Layfield gets up on the apron, "STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? DON'T DO THIS!" Cena recovers and shoves Layfield off the apron, he bumps into Michaels and knocks him into the ring. Cena grabs Michaels, picks him up for the Throwback, connects BOOM! 1-2-3.

WINNER: John Cena.  We replay what just happened, then see Cena walking up the ramp. Layfield steps into the ring and looks over Michaels, laying in the middle of the ring, in agony. We then again recap Randy Orton's attack on Mr. McMahon last week, and Orton's statements from the start of the show. We then go to the back with Todd Grisham, who asks if WWE Raw General Manager Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley will take action."Oh, there will be action," says the GM, "but only it will be publicly, and it will be in Randy Orton's face!"

The WWE Rewind, presented by Verizon Wireless, is Melina Perez defeating "the Glamazon" Beth Phoenix for the WWE Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble last night. That match was OFF THA HIZZLE~!

WWE Women's Champion Melina Perez & Kelly Kelly vs. Jillian Hall & "the Glamazon" Beth Phoenix (w/ Santino Marella)

Marella joins the broadcast team as we get started with Phoenix and Perez, Phoenix lifts up Perez and throws her in the corner, Perez fires back with kicks and flies off the ropes, Phoenix throws Perez into the corner, tags in Hall, who gets her ass kicked real quick. Perez tags in Kelly, who sunset flips into the ring over Hall and goes for a pin. Hall with a wristlock, Kelly uses the corner to flip out and armdrag her. Kelly throws her into the corner, charges, Hall lifts her over the rope and then shoves her off the apron. Hall jumps out of the ring, beats on Kelly, throws her back in the ring, cover for a two count.

Phoenix tags in, goes for an elbow drop, Kelly rolls out of the way and tries to go for a tag, but Phoenix grabs a leg to cut her off. Hall gets in the ring to distract the referee. Rosa Mendez runs out and pulls Perez off the apron, ensuring she cannot make the tag. Phoenix gets a handle on Kelly, picks her up and throws into the Down in Flames finisher, cover, 1-2-3.

WINNERS: Jillian Hall & Beth Phoenix. Perez scrambles into the ring PISSED OFF, Phoenix and Hall quickly escape, Marella bids his goodbye to Cole and Lawler and go up the ramp. We replay Mendez running out and pulling Perez off the apron, then go back to the Marella/Hall/Phoenix tauning Perez & Kelly from the apron.

Another WrestleMania retrospective: April 5, 2005, WrestleMania 21 from Los Angeles, CA, where we saw the debut of the "Money in the Bank" Ladder Match, where Edge won and we saw the rise of the "Rated 'R' Superstar". Off to break.

The WWE Slam of the Week, presented by Afro Samurai: Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeating Mike Knox by disqualification... but definitely losing the battle.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER QUALIFYING MATCH: Rey Mysterio, Jr. vs. "2008 King of the Ring" William Regal (w/ Layla London)

Neither Mysterio nor Regal have participated in a Elimination Chamber match. Bell rings, Rey starts out with kicks on Regal and a side headlock. Regal shoves him into a corner, charges, Mysterio with the knees up then a seated senton off the ropes, bounces off the ropes, ducks a pair of clotheslines but can't stop a body slam from Regal, who kicks Mysterio in the head as an afterthought. Regal puts Mysterio in the corner, chops him, knees to the midsection, pulls him out and levels him with a European Uppercut, cover and a two count.

Regal with an armbar/chinlock combination, almost like a standing crossface. Mysterio uses punches to the ribs to escape, followed by a kick to the ribs, a knee to the face. Mysterio goes for wheelbarrow slam, Regal drops him on his head, goes for a trio of pinfall attempts, none successful. Regal pulls Mysterio down and knees him right in the skull, cover and a two count. Regal puts Mysterio in the corner, a pair of stiff forearm shots and a knee to the face, whips Mysterio out, catches him with a stiff forearm/elbow combination right to the face, cover and a two count. Regal tries to destroy Mysterio's face some more with forearm shots and a kick to the face.

Mysterio gets to his feet and fires with kicks and punches, bounces off the ropes, Regal cuts him off with a kick to the midsection, tries for a front face slam, Mysterio with an armdrag, kick to the head, but Regal nails him with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex, cover and a two count. Mysterio with a monkey flip of Regal into the ropes, bounces off the ropes and clubs  him in the back, sending him tot he middle rope, setting up nicely for the 6-1-9 and the big splash leaping off the ropes, 1-2-3.

WINNER: Rey Mysterio, Jr. Kids, these two made it look hard but this was an easy match... except for the bloody lip that Mysteiro suffered. Regal bails the ring quick while Mysterio celebrates. We take a commercial and come back with the World Television Premiere for the trailer for John Cena's new movie, 12 Rounds.

Backstage Rosa Mendez is begging Santino Marella for his forgiveness, she couldn't stand how Melina Perez took the title from Phoenix last night, and felt she had to do something to make a stand. Phoenix comes up behind them, arms akimbo and looking none too happy. Marella alerts Mendez to her presence, she spins around, looks down and bites her lip. Phoenix smirks and says, "Okay, we can keep her!" and then walks off. Mendez has to restrain herself from leaping into Marella's arms. "You'se a keep!" he exclaims!"

So we watch the trailer for 12 Rounds, and it doesn't look too bad. The plot synopsis, courtesy of imdb.com: "Detective Danny Baxter (John Cena) discovers his girlfriend (Ashley Scott) has been kidnapped by a ex-con Miles Jackson (Aidan Gillen) tied to Baxter's past, and he'll have to successfully complete 12 challenges in order to secure her safe release". If you didn't watch it on Raw you can see it at 12rounds-movie.com

Punk picks up Jericho and drives him to the corner, sits him on the top turnbuckle. Jericho tries to fight him off, Punk fires back with forearms and kicks, leaps up and hits the hurracanrana off the top, cover, 1-2-kickout. WINNER: Chris Jericho. Wow, fast-paced, hard-hitting and VERY clean... except for that mouse that Jericho's gonna have under his eye. Punk's holding his mouth as well, looks like Jericho loosened a few teeth on him. Jericho walks away with a grin. UP NEXT - Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley address Randy Orton!

WWE Raw General Manager Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley addresses Randy Orton

After the break, Stephanie comes down to the ring. "I'm here to address the actions of last week. Randy Orton, you think you won the Royal Rumble last week, if you think  a pair of lawsuits is going to scare me, and if you think a half-hearted apology read from a letter is going to get you off the hook, then you've got another think coming! Why don't you come down here and let me tell you what I think!"

Randy Orton, Legacy, the lawyers and the terapist comes down to the ring and steps in.  "Before you say another word, Stephanie, I want you to ask yourself a question - 'Do you want to go through with this?' Let me make myself clear, if you fire me tonight, you will be subjecting yourself to a nightmare. I'll be gone, Cody and Ted will be gone, the star power in the Raw locker room will be crippled." A lawyer whispers something into Orton's ear, then steps forward. "Miss McMahon, let me reiterate my client's condition. Intermittent Explosive Disorder is quite real. The fact that the company has ignored his condition is quite significant. Unlike the employee that you humiliated on television last week, my employee is not going to apologize. Know that if you fire him, you will invoke extreme consequences."

Stephanie nearly flies off the handle. "You think that is going to threaten me? Last week you kicked my father in the head, you think you can get away with that?" "Let me make it clear again," responds Orton, "that if you fire me and keep me out of the Royal Rumble, I will file a lawsuit that will shut down WrestleMania for this year. That is not a threat, that is a PROMISE! Now what are you going to do about that?"

The fans start cheering as we pan out to the stage, and the entire Raw locker room has emptied out. Randy Orton turns around, stares them down, "What are you all looking at? You think I care whether or not you have a WrestleMania? You think that if I'm not fired I won't take each and every one of you down with me? Well, you know what? Maybe that is exactly what I'm going to do." He turns to Stephanie, "Fire me! Go ahead and fire me! FIRE ME FIRE ME FIRE ME! Go ahead and cancel WrestleMania and put all of these bums out of work! Go ahead and fire me, say the words that your father was going to say before I kicked him in the skull. FIRE. ME. NOW!"

"Firing you... would be too easy," says Stephanie. "We've got bigger plans."

"HERE COMES THE MONEYYYYYY... HEERE COMES THE MONEY!"

The music for WWE Executive Vice President Shane "Shane-O" McMahon steps out and the Raw locker room parts the way for him. Shane takes his jacket off, rolls up his sleeves and steps towards the ring. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley steps out of the ring. Shane steps into the ring and Orton stands poised, with Rhodes and DiBiase behind him. The fans start chanting "Kick his ass! Kick his ass!"

Orton steps backwards, DiBiase and Rhodes steps forward. Shane charges and pummels Orton, Rhodes and DiBiase quickly pull him off, hem him up, Orton shouts obscenities. Shane breaks loose and pummels Orton again, Rhodes and DiBiase pull him off again, he's holding his own against the two although he's on the mat. Shane throws DiBiase out of the ring, pummels Rhodes, then pummels Orton again. Rhodes rushes him and pushes him back to the ropes, holding him down. Shane with a kick to the head dispatches him, Orton is on him, Shane throws left, right, left POUNCES! Ground 'n pound! Rhodes pulls him off again, Shane with lefts, rights, kicks, shoulder block into the corner! DiBiase pulls Orton out of the ring and drags him off. Shane throws a beaten Cody Rhodes to the side!

Shane McMahon runs up the ramp, clubs DiBiase in the back, throws him off the ramp. Shane drills Orton in the jaw, Rhodes recovers and pulls Rhodes off. Now the locker room gets in and pulls them off, Orton runs off... McMahon starts throwing elbows and punches on the babyfaces holding him back! "WHERE IS HE?!?" screams McMahon. "C'MON RANDY! WHERE IS HE! C'MERE RANDY!"

HOLY SHIT! What a fucking ending to a GREAT WWE Raw! That's it for tonight. I'm going off to watch Burn Notice. Come back tomorrow night for Stevie J's ECW on Sci-Fi Recap and, if it's going to be on the air, Big D and the Superfriends (that's not confirmed yet, but we're hoping!)
