The WWE Raw Recap - Hit F5 for the Latest Updates

We start off tonight's show with "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair in the ring, dressed to the nines "WHOOO! WHOOO!" he says as he starts stylin' & profilin... "WHOOO!"

"Chris Jericho... on behalf of Rowdy' Roddy Piper, Jimmy 'the Superfly' Snuka, and Ricky 'the Dragon' Steamboat, I accept your challenge for the three-on-one handicap match at WrestleMania. And the Nature Boy will be honored to be standing in their corner. As you know, Jericho, I can't compete, but I'll be more than too happy to stand in that ring with those three great legends and hold their hands high after they beat you and shut you up forever. And, by the way, Jericho..."

"FLAIR!" booms Chris Jericho's voice over the RawHD Tron. "Flair, Ive heard all I need to hear out of you, now it's time for you to listen to me. I was nearly a child when the first WrestleMania took place, but I remember watching Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka thrill the fans." The video screen switches from showing clips of the legends to Jericho, standing in the back, talking. "But that was 25 years ago, and I couldn't have dreamed that I would have ever become greater than any of them. But I have. And let me explain to you just what they're signing up for."

Jericho steps out of a door and into a hallway, heading towards the ring. "Flair, do you and the rest of the wrestler think that this is some kind of movie, like the Wrestler? Do you think that when you beat me up four-on-one that that was the end of the movie, with the fans cheering you? This isn't a movie, Flair, this is wrestling, you're not Mickie Rourke, you don't have a movie director to yell 'Cut'. You don't have that luxury, Flair, this is real. Rourke's movie gave you a false impression, Flair, you think that you still matter. You are wrong, Flair, and now I'm going to show you just how dire your predicament has become."

Jericho steps into the arena, and the fans start booing Jericho as he progresses to the ring. "You see, Flair, I knew all along... I knew all along that the legends would accept my challenge. It was academic, because all of the legends, especially you Flair, are afraid." Jericho steps into the ring and gets in Flair's face. "You're afraid that if you'll stay out of the spotlight for too long that you'll be forgotten... washed up... you're afraid that you'll end up as an inconsequential nameless face, a nobody, just like all these hypocritical fans in the crowd tonight. But it's better to be a nobody, Flair, than dragging your name through the mud.

"Your friends are going to be beaten down, Flair, it's going to be an uncomfortable beatdown, and you're going to be there at ringside, tears streaming down your face, screaming for me to stop. But, I'm going to keep going, and going, and going. And Mickey Rourke will be there at ringside, wondering what he has caused.

"Flair, on April 5th, despite all of the Hall of Fame accomplishments, your friends Snuka, Piper and Steamboat are going to be remembered by a new face of fans as being the ones who were humiliated and beat up by Chris Jeicho!"

Flair responds back, "You're wrong, Jericho. What we refuse to do is to be judged by insignificant little punks that will never be Hall of Fame material. We refuse to be told when it's over. We'll make that decision on our own. We love to be respected for the accomplishments we achieved during our careers, and we in turn, respect the people who respected us, and we respect their accomplishments. What you don't understand, and I'll be so proud, so proud to stand beside my Hall of Fame brothers, my peers, and most of all my friends as they beat you."

"Are you finished, Flair?"

"No, I'm not, and since we're speaking Friendly now, since I got your ear, I'll tell you what I'm really looking forward to. I'm really looking forward to standing in the ring and looking over at Mickey Rourke and telling him to get in the ring, with Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Pipper and Superfly Snuka, and looking over your broken body. And then, THEN, in front of 70,000 screaming people in Houston, and million around the world, that are watching WrestleMania... go.... WHOOOO..."

Jericho drills Flair in the mouth, sending him to the mat. Jericho strips off his jacket, kicks Flair in the face, then lays in to beating him in the head before shamelessly kicking him out of the ring. Flair leans up against the barrier, strips off his jacket. Jericho steps out of the ring and attacks Flair more, pulling off his dress shirt, dragging him around the ring, laying in punches. Flair is busted open as Jericho picks Flair up and throws him over the announcers table. Flair strips off the top of the table as Jerry "the King" Lawler screams, "C'mon, Jericho, that's enough, he's busted open!"

Jericho pay him, nor the fans who are chanting "You suck! You suck!" any mind as Jericho throws Flair over into the timekeeper's area, beats him some more, then throws him back on the announcer's table. Jericho picks up the top of the table and throws it on Flair's head. Lawler begs Jericho to stop as Jericho takes Flair's own shoes off and beats him in the head with it. Jericho mounts Flair and pounds him relentlessly. Flair tries to rally a comeback, but Jericho is ready, eggs him on, and resumes busting his head open more before throwing him into the steel ringsteps.

Jericho steps back for a moment, gains his breath, picks up Flair and slams his head again into the steps. Flair staggers back over to the announcers table, Jericho lays him out on the ground again. Jericho walks around the table, shoves aside a videographer and takes his video camera, lines up and takes a shot with the camera straight to Flair's head. Flair screams, staggers, and falls back to the ground. The fans chant "YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!" even louder now.

Jericho bends down and takes off Flair's gold watch, the watch he received for his retirement. He sets it on the top of the ringsteps, climbs the steps and then smashes the watch to pieces. Jericho finally walks away. "This is the most humiliating thing I've ever seen," gasps Jerry Lawler as we go to our first commercial break.

Extreme Rules Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Dolph Ziggler

Quick question - why does Jeff Hardy look like the meth-smoking member of the Insane Clown Posse? Is this Juggalo Championship Wrestling?

Ziggler wants a handshake before the match, but Hardy refuses and drills him in the face, drives Ziggler into the corner, Ziggler responds with a clothesline and some stiff punches of his own. Ziggler slides out of the ring, grabs a chair, runs into the ring and Hardy catches him with a drop toe hold, sending Ziggler right into his own chair. Hardy throws Ziggler in the corner, sets up the chair, launches off of it for a splash into Ziggler, but Ziggler moves out of the way and Hardy eats the mat.

Ziggler slides out and grabs a trashcan, and dares Hardy to get up. Ziggler smashes him in the head with the can, goes for a cover, gets a two count. Referee checks on Hardy, but Ziggler pulls him up, puts him in the corner, throws a punch, sets Hardy up on the top turnbuckle. Ziggler climbs up, Hardy fights him, gets the upper-hand, and then executes a front-face slam on Ziggler right into the trash can. Hardy pulls up Ziggler and executes the Twist of Fate on Ziggler over the trash can.

Hardy climbs up to the top turnbuckle, then changes his mind. Hardy slides out of the ring, grabs the steel chair, gets back in the ring and beats Ziggler in the back a dozen times. Hardy executes the Twist of Fate on Ziggler for the second time, this time over the chair. Hardy finally goes up-top and finishes off Ziggler with the Swanton Bomb.

WINNER: Jeff Hardy. Jeff picks up a mic and says, "Matt, I know you're watching. What you just witnessed wasn't extreme... but what you will experience at WrestleMania will be!"

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler take us back to last Friday's SmackDown, where they explain that Big Show and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge were trying to attempt a truce on Vickie Guerrero's half, until things get out of hand and their actions both caused Vickie Guerrero to become injured. We then segue into a clip with John Cena, who reads a "Get Well Soon" card for Guerrero, where Cena proclaims that he really doesn't care if she gets better, and will be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion after WrestleMania.

John Cena will also be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno later this evening, 11:35pm ET on NBC. Later tonight we will also see another preview of Cena's new movie 12 Rounds, and Edge vs. Big Show is our main event!

We go to commercial, and come back with the WrestleMania Moment, this time WrestleMania 21, the year WrestleMania goes to Hollywood. The best vignettes WWE has possibly ever put out, with spoofs of popular movies. But the action wasn't on the Silver Screen, but in the ring! The watershed Money in the Bank ladder match debuted on this night, and Edge would prevail, cementing the road to his first ever heavyweight championship - "The Rise of the Rated-R Superstar"

8-Man Money in the Bank Tag Tam Match: WWE United States Champion Montel Vontaveous Porter, CM Punk, Christian Cage & Kofi Kingston vs. "the Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin, Kane, "the World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry & Fit Finlay (w/ Hornswaggle)

We start with the NEW WWE United States Champion Montel Vontaveous Porter against former champion "The Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin. MVP gets a front face lock, Benjamin shoves him off and stiffs him in the face a few times with forearm shots. Benjamin with a side headlock on Porter, Porter flips him over his back, but Shelton lands on his back, clubs Porter in the back, spins him around and Porter catches him in a nice belly-to-belly suplex. Porter with a front face lock, tags in Punk, who kicks Shelton in the back. Punk flips Shelton over, goes to pick him up, Shelton executes a jawjacker. Shelton tags in Finlay, Punk throws him in the corner, goes for the knee to the face, Benjamin runs over to interfere, Punk knocks him off the apron, giving Finlay the opening to take down Punk and go for a leg lock on the mat as we go to commercial.

Live action back on the scene, we have Kane putting Punk in a front facelock, Punk escapes, slides under Kane's legs, spin kick, kick to the face, tag to Christian Cage. Kane quickly tags out to Benjamin, Cage and Benjamin whip each other around, Cage with a cross-body block, shows Benjamin in the corner and hits a monkey flip, but Benjamin lands on his feet, turns around and charges Cage. Cage side-steps him, throws him into the ropes, slides outside and punches Benjamin the face. Cage slides back in and hits an inverted DDT, goes for the cover, Finlay breaks it up.

Everybody gets into the ring, bodies fly everywhere as everybody goes for a spot, but the babyfaces clear the ring. Benjamin nails MVP with The Drive By, Cage gets up and nails Benjamin with the Unprettier (or whatever he's calling it now, I forget) and picks up the win.

WINNERS: Punk/Cage/MVP/Kingston. Punk gets back into the ring and bumps up against Christian, Cage shoves him back, they both look up and point at the Money in the Bank briefcase. Finlay throws a ladder in the ring and uses it to run over Cage and Punk, throws the ladder down on both of them, and then celebrates in the ring with Hornswaggle.

Later tonight we'll see Triple H face Randy Orton & Ted DiBiase, Jr. in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match, and after commercial we'll hear from Randy Orton! We return from break with video clips of Triple H and Orton going after each other for the last few weeks. Backstage Todd Grisham asks for Orton's comments. Orton says that Triple H called him a coward last week. Orton reminds Triple H that he brazenly took out the entire McMahon family, and that Triple H had better remember that, because Orton is going to "up the ante."

WWE World Heavyweight Champion "The Rated-R Superstar" Edge vs. The Big Show (non-title match)

Edge is introduced first, but then we're told by Lillian Garcia that WWE SmackDown and Interim WWE Raw GM Vickie Guerrero is coming out. Guerrero is being pushed out in a wheelchair by her nephew Chavo Guerrero, Jr. as we take another commercial. We come back and Edge is down at ringside trying to get a kiss from Guerrero, but she refuses. Big Show is introduced next as Edge steps back into the ring. Big Show comes over to get some affection, and is also rebuffed. Before the bell rings, John Cena appears on the RawHD Tron. He apologizes for not being there, but he's going to watch them both kick each others asses. He reminds them both that neither of them are going to be fighting for Vickie Guerrero's love at WrestleMania, but against him for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, along with some other choice comments about being men for once in their lives.

Bell rings, Big Show backs Edge into a corner, charges, Edge escapes, gets Big Show into the corner, mounts him for some punches, Big Show throws him off and then clotheslines him, followed by a headbutt that sends Edge out of the ring. Big Show reaches over the top rope, pulls him back up on to the apron, then tosses him over the rope back into the ring. Big Show picks Edge up, only to club him in the head. Big Show walks over to the ropes and shouts, "You see, Vickie? He doesn't deserve you! he doesn't love you!"

Big Show punches Edge in the guts, Edge again falls out of the ring. Big Show follows him out, stands him up against the announcer's table, slaps him in the chest. He turns back to Guerrero, "You see? He doesn't deserve you! He's weak!" Big Show throws Edge back in the ring, and Edge cuts him off upon his entrance. Edge lays down a flurry of fists and kicks to Big Show's legs and head. Edge goes for a swinging neckbreaker, and Big Show swats him aside. Big Show gets back to his feet, but Edge cuts him down with kicks to the back of the leg, gets Big Show on his knees, and Edge actually pulls off a DDT!

But Big Show isn't down yet. He stands right back up, picks up Edge in a Gorilla Press Slam, and drops him neck-first over the top rope. Big Show then ties up Edge's arms in the ropes, and goes to nail him with the big right fist. Vickie Guerrero begs him not to do it, but he isn't listening. Vickie begs Chavo to get into the ring and do something. Chavo steps into the ring in-between Edge and Big Show, causing the referee to call for the bell.

WINNER: NO CONTEST. Big Show throws Chavo aside, and goes for the punch again. Chavo tries to stop Big Show by clubbing him in the back. Big Show no-sells it, turns around, backs Chavo into the corner. Edge frees himself from the ropes and tries to Spear Big Show from behind, but Big Show senses it, side-steps him and Edge delivers the Spear to Chavo instead. Big Show then spins Edge around and nails him with the right-hand KO, sending him down for the count. Big Show steps out of the ring, looks down at Vickie Guerrero, then walks away.

Rey Mysterio, Jr. vs. William Regal (w/ Layla London)

Mysterio is introduced first, then we hear the horns of John Layfield's entrance music as the limo pulls up. Layfield steps out, but then steps aside as William Regal and Layla Londton step out, apparently Layfields guests of honor tonight.

We get a collar-and-elbow tie-up, Regal goes into an armbar, Mysterio immediately escapes, but Regals stiffs him in the face with a forearm. Mysterio responds with a monkey flip, cover, one-count. Mysterio with an enziguri that sends Regal onto the ropes, Mysterio tries for the 6-1-9, Regal bails out of the ring, Mysterio follows with a baseball slide, Regal ducks it and then clubs him from behind, drops him face-first onto the apron, then throws him back in the ring.

Regal throws Mysterio into a corner, pounds on him, throws him into the opposite corner, follows up with a clothesline, covers, hooks the leg, two-count. Regal puts Mysterio in the corner again, forearm punches to the face, Mysterio fires back with some kicks, Regal lays him out with a big knee to the face. Mysterio looks stunned and disoriented. Referee checks on him, Regal moves in, and apparently Mysterio was playing possum! Regal gets laid out on the ropes again, 6-1-9, leapfrog onto the rope, legdrop, 1-2-3.

WINNER: Rey Mysterio, Jr. Layfield gets up from the announcer's table, comes over to the ropes to talk some smack, and Mysterio nails him with an unannounced baseball slide dropkick into Layfield's face, putting him on his ass!

Undertaker In-Ring Promo

We show clips of Undertaker & Shawn Michaels teaming up last week, with Michaels tagging himself in to steal the win. We take a break, and come back with Undertaker in the ring, the lights dimming and then coming back up.

Jericho finally walks away. "This is the most humiliating thing I've ever seen," gasps Jerry Lawler as we go to our first commercial break.

"Shawn Michaels, your bold and brass behavior have taken this thing between us to a whole new dimension. Your obsessions with being Mr. WrestleMania, your obsession with beating me at WrestleMania, has seriously imparied your ability to decypher what is fantasy and what is reality. Shawn, I heard what you had to say, and it's true - I've never beaten you one-on-one. Not once. But, need I remind you, the last time we did do battle, you spent the next five years at home in agonizing pain, trying to recover. Now, you say you're not afraid of me. On Sunday, April 5th, we will find out. At WrestleMania, Shawn, when you stand across the ring from me and you start to question your own faith - and you will - just remember it was you who opened the gates to Hell!"

Shawn Michaels' music starts playing, but we go to the RawHD Tron with a video package featuring Michaels standing in a graveyard.

"All things must die. The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak is no exception. There's a reason I kicked you in the face, Undertaker. I've always taken advantage of the situation to stay one step ahead. That's why I'm standing here tonight, on your own back yard. You may intimidate others, Undertaker, but you do not intimidate me. I respect you, but I do not fear you. Standing here on the graves of your last 16 opponents doesn't frighten me."

Michaels then runs down every match, one-by-one, opponent by opponent.

Michaels concludes, "Here before me is a fresh grave, surrounded by darkness. But this grave isn't for me, it is for you, where you will rest - not just six feet under, but all the way down to the depths of hell!" Michaels then kicks a gravestone that reads "16-1" into the grave. "Your undefeated streak? Rest... in... peace!" says Michaels as he starts to shovel dirt into the grave.

We go back to the arena with the camera on Undertaker's face, sneering, as he starts to stomp around the ring, seething. Off to commercial.

Santino Marella (w/ Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendez) vs. Mickie James (w/ Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres)

We come back and Marella, Phoenix and Mendez are already in the ring. Marella picks up a mic and says, "On April 5th there's going to be a 25-diva Battle Royale to determine who will be Miss WrestleMania. I think I know who is going to be the winner... Santino Marella! You see, last week, when Mickie James assaut me, I went to Vickie Guerrero and demand to be included! Why should I not be included? Because of my genetalia? That is sexual discrimination! Tonight if I beat Mickie James with one arm tied behind my back, I will prove that I am man enough to be Miss WrestleMania!"

Phoenix and Mendez look at Marella like he's crazy and start arguing with him as James & co. are introduced.

Bell rings, Marella sidesteps James a few times, reaches out and tries to pat James on the head. James shoves him, Marella tries to attack, James side steps him, drop toeholds him, then proceeds to tie BOTH of his arms behind his back! Marella gets to his feet and screams, "I don't need no hands to defeat you!" James laughs and teases him with a test of strength, but, Marella kicks her legs out from underneath her and then slams his body on top of hers a few times. Marella drops down and tries to log roll into her, but James leaps over him and then dropkicks him in the face.

Marella takes the beating like a man, but then turns around and kicks James' legs out from underneath him again, and then stomps on her back a few times. Marella shouts, "I'm going up!" and steps through the ropes, his arms still tied together, and tries to climb to the top turnbuckle! He gets caught in the ropes, allowing time for James to recover and come over to kick him in the face! Rosa Mendez gets on the apron to distract James while Beth Phoenix shoves Marella off the top to help him escape... which allows James to tag him in the head with an enziguri, cover, 1-2-3.

WINNER: Mickie James. Kelly & Torres get in the ring and assist in kicking Marella out of the ring. Marella gets to his feet and start cussing up a storm! Off to commercial.

Tomorrow night on ECW - the last 2009 Hall of Fame inductee will be announced, and MVP will host the V.I.P. Lounge with the other competitors in the Money in the Bank match as his guests! Should be a... well... should be a way to burn an hour, anyhow. ;-)

Speaking of burning time, we run another promo for 12 Rounds before the main event. We then run down the card for WrestleMania 25. We take a break, come back and recap the opening segment of Chris Jericho attacks Ric Flair. Jerry Lawler is sick of it and makes a statement:

"Ric Flair won't be here next week, but you know who will be here? ME! You wanna pick on legends? I'm calling you out, Chris Jericho. Right here, next week Chris Jericho, lets do it, you and me! I'm tired of Chris Jericho!"

WWE Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton & Ted DiBiase, Jr.

Orton & DiBiase were introduced before the commercial break, and apparently they're getting a very long intro as we spend a minute or so recapping the opening segment of the night. Triple H is briefly introduced after Lawler makes his statements, he gets in the ring, his music dies down, and he launches himself into Orton and DiBiase. The action quickly spills to the outside, but it becomes "a numbers game" as they double-team Triple H, throw him in the ring. DiBiase hems up Triple H as Orton decks him. Triple H escapes and the action spills outside again.

Jerry Lawler questions if this is supposed to be a simultanious 2-on-1 match, Michael Cole points out that the bell hasn't even rang yet, and the referee is still trying to get control of the action. Triple H tries to go under the ring for his sledgehammer, but instead he gets punched in the balls by Cody Rhodes. Rhodes emerges from under the ring and brandishes a pair of handcuffs. The trio get Triple H back in the ring, he tries to fight them off, but they eventually succeed in handcuffing Triple H to the top turnbuckle. They proceed to kick and stomp the hell out of Helmsley. Eventually Orton breaks off the attack, goes out of the ring, grabs a mic, and gets back into the ring.

Orton gets into Triple H's face and says, "There's only one person... that can save you now, Triple H." Triple H lunges at Orton, knocking the mic out of his hands. Orton picks it back up and finishes, "And she had better hurry!" Orton leaves the ring, goes unde the apron and pulls out a sledgehammer, dragging it back into the ring. Triple H kicks it out of his hands, and the three-on-one beatdown continues. Orton is about to swing the sledgehammer at Triple H's head when Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley comes down to the ring. Triple H yells at her to stay back, stay away. Orton tells her not to listen to Triple H, and threatens to beat his brains in with the sledgehammer if she leaves.

McMahon-Helmsley gets up on the apron to beg him to stop. DiBiase and Rhodes get out of the ring and stand behind her to block her way. Orton comes over, grabs her by the hair. Triple H run over as close as he can, still cuffed to the ropes. He points a finger in Orton's face and threatens him to stop. Orton looks over at him, snatches up Triple H's wife by the head in a front face lock, drags her through the ropes, and executes a DDT.

Triple H falls to his knees and cries out. Orton turns around and attacks Triple H more. He picks up the sledgehammer, and Triple H dares him to hit him with it. Orton turns around and looks over at Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley instead. Triple H tells him to not do it, put the sledgehammer down. Orton sets it down next to her, then gets down on his knees, leers over her body, and kisses her on the lips. Triple H is seethign with rage, Orton crawls back to Triple H, just an inch away from Triple H's reach, and stares him back down.

Orton picks up the sledgehammer again and stands up. Triple H stands up, reaches out again. Orton allows the very end of Triple H's fingertips to graze him, and Orton shakes his head no. Triple H talks more, Orton steps back, positions the sledgehammer in his hand, and then drills it into the side of Triple H's head, knocking him out cold.

The fans boo as Orton stands over Triple H's body. Triple H starts to move after a minute. Orton steps out of the ring, turns back towards Triple H, and stares at the sledgehammer like it is his new best friend. The cameraman is now in the ring and he pans in close on Stephanie, then Triple H. The cameras finally focus on Orton as we end the show.

That's all I got to say for tonight. See ya on Thursday night kids!
