We'll be recapping the WWE Superstars show on WGN live tonight at 8 PM EST, 7 Central so feel free to hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for updates. The show starts now!

Spin those roulette slots and make a Superstar of your own! WWE Superstars is on the air. I wonder how long before we get another WWE Music compilation with the "I'm Invincible Tonight" theme song for Superstars on it.

Michael Cole reminds us there are only three days until Backlash. Jerry Lawler says we'll hear from Edge after his vicious assault on John Cena this past Monday. First up though it's the IC Champion Rey Mysterio. BOOYAKA BOOYAKA! We see highlights of of Big Show punching him out on Raw just three days ago as he makes his way to the ring.

* Rey Mysterio & CM Punk v. Big Show & Kane

It's a non-title tag team match, and the babyface team will be the IC title holder and the Money in the Bank briefcase holder. The first of their opponents is the seven foot tall and (nearly) 500 pound Big Show and the Big Red Machine. Wait a minute - haven't we seen this tag team before? In fact I seem to recall they were a pseudo-babyface unit until Kane went psycho over the whole "May 19th" thing leading up to the release of his movie See No Evil. Holy crap - Michael Cole actually mentioned they are former tag team champions together. Shocking when WWE remembers shit. Rey Mysterio rolls out of the ring, Kane gives chase, Rey ends up wiping Kane out to the floor diving off the apron. He comes back in and looks right at Show as we go to commercial.

Kane and Punk are at work in the ring when we come back from break at 8:10. Kane gets knocked into the ropes and hits a 619 off the blind tag on Punk. Unfortunately for Rey he gets a big boot to the face when Kane recovers and Big Show gets tagged in. Show starts throwing him around like a rag doll and hitting chops. Very little crowd noise tonight - I wonder if they forgot to mic the crowd, the crowd is dead tired after a long taping, or both. Cole puts over the idea that Big Show is COMING to Raw, future tense, just to remind us that stupid Draft we all went through doesn't matter 'til after Backlash. Kane and Show keep cutting off the ring with tags to beat him down. Lawler: "Imagine being Kane, being able to do a horror movie without wearing a mask." Rey escapes from Show, uses the ropes to hit a dropkick to the face, but on a crossbody attempt Show just catches and drops him. Kane comes back in and puts Rey in a bear hug type grip. Rey hits an enzuguiri when he escapes and tags in Punk. Punk ducks the big boot and hits a head kick plus two running knees. Punk to the top rope! Big Show blocks and tosses him, Punk is thrown to Kane for the chokeslam, three count. WINNERS: SHOWKISHI & RED MACHINEY. Hornswoggle and Finlay are warming up backstage as we go to commercial.

Jeff Hardy video package when we come back, set to "Rooftops" by the Lostprophets.

* Finlay & Hornswoggle v. Tyson Kidd & Natalya

It seems to be tag team night on Superstars tonight! Matt Striker and Josh Matthews are our commentary team for this contest. Relevant highlight clips from ECW are done. Kidd is put over as being from the Hart Dungeon as he starts off the match with Finlay. He knocks Kidd down and tags in Hornswoggle, who gives him a tilt-a-whirl headscissor. When Kidd goes out Hornswoggle stays in the ring juggling tennis balls, and when he comes back in Swoggle whips them at Kidd! Action spills out to the floor when he gives chase and Hornswoggle gives Natalya a spear!! Back in the ring Kidd gets a shilelagh shot behind the ref's back, and Hornswoggle does the Tadpole Splash for three! WINNERS: FINLAY & HORNSWOGGLE.

Finlay: "This is the last time we're gonna be in the ring together, but before he goes to Raw, I'd like your help singing him his favorite song. It's 'Irish Eyes Are Smiling'. If you know it, sing along, if you don't just make some kind of noise." Finlay starts crooning. YE GODS HE'S TERRIBLE. They actually put the words on the Titantron behind him to help the crowd. I've been watching wrestling too long, but I expeced a heel turn this whole time. I expected Finlay to stop singing, to crack his "son" in the head with the mic, but no. The kids in the audience are happy, Horny is happy, he gets a clean exit on the show and we go to commrcial with a teaser for Kofi Kingston v. Edge later tonight.

Sure enough WWE is promoting the theme song for Superstars - it's called "Invincible" and it's by Adelita's Way - myspace.com/adelitasway if you're interested. From there we go to a Raw Rebound of Orton v. Triple H. Afterwards Todd Grisham and Jim Ross run down the card for Backlash this Sunday. The announcers re-introduce themselves and then we get another Raw Rebound of Edge giving Cena a Last Man Standing style ten count. Cena is backstage with Todd Grisham for an interview. "Unfortunately tonight I'm not going to talk to you. For once, I'd like to talk to you - all the viewers watching Superstars. The footage you saw, some might say, is overly graphic. It was a necessity though. The rivalry between Edge and myself has nowhere else to go. We've walked down every road, danced every step, told every story. This is one of the greatest rivalries in Sports Entertainment history. In a weird, crazy way we've even made each other's career. It's the WWE version of the Yankees v. the Red Sox. So what if - what if they were only going to play one more game? Would any of them risk it all, put their health on the line and gamble, to be victorious on that final day? Ask any one of them and they'd say yes. That's how serious this is to me, to us. You'll probably hear from Edge, confident and cocky as usual. I'm banged up sure but I'm still standing. At Backlash the two of us will go in knowing only one will walk out to tell the story because the winner writes the history books. Only one, will be the better man. Knowing at the end of the night, there will only be, one Last Man Standing."

* Edge v. Kofi Kingston

Edge comes out first and before we even see Kofi, Superstars goes to commercial break.

We're back at 8:43 EST and Edge is still waiting in the ring, listening to his music. Within about a minute we're listening to Kofi's. As you might have expected in this match, Edge is in control early. Kofi tries to fight out with elbows, Edge knocks him down with a shoulder tackle. Kofi responds with a leapfrog and an arm drag. Grisham and J.R. debate about whether or not Edge is overlooking Kofi. Edge gets back to his feet and drives an elbow into Kofi's forehead, but misses him on a charge in the corner, which causes Kofi to leap on him for some offense and finish with an uppercut for a one count. Kofi works over the left arm on the ground and Edge sells. Edge shoves him to the corner for a not-so-clean break at 4, then starts driving elbows into the back of his neck. Kofi fights back and takes the left arm to work it over. Edge escapes but eventually gets headbutted into a turnbuckle. Before Kofi can leap off the ropes to follow up Edge knocks him off for a crotching and we go to break.

Edge seems to have the upper hand when we come back at 8:51. Kofi charges and Edge gives him a stiff knee to the gut, before pulling him back up for a gutbuster over his knee. Kofi kicks out at 2. Grisham reminds us that Edge used a beatdown on Kofi and took Kingston's place in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, giving us a backdrop for beef between the men. Kofi gets a DDT for 2.9. Some sort of modified reverse legsweep DDT for another near fall. Both men are being counted down and out. Edge gets back up first at 6. Kofi avoids a spear and hits a head kick which sends Edge out to the floor. Kofi rolls him back in for another near near fall. I like Kofi and all, but is it really necessary for such parity booking with the #1 contender to the title before his big PPV match? If Kofi Kingston can almost beat Edge, what the hell chance does he have against Cena? I'm not sure who the hell thought this through. Edge finally hits the spear for the pin at 8:57. WINNER: EDGE. Edge has an evil smile on his face as his hand is raised, Grisham shills the Last Man Standing for Sunday again, and that's where the show ends!
