WWE "Backlash" PPV Recap - Hit F5 for the Latest Updates

We go back just THREE F'N WEEKS AGO to WrestleMania XXV with highlights of John Cena and Triple H winning their respective championships, highlights of the Hardy brothers fighting. But now... it's time for revenge... time for payback... it's time... for Backlash!

ECW CHAMPIONSHIP: champion "the All-American American" Jack Swagger vs. Christian Cage

Swagger starts with shooting for the legs, then transitions into a front face lock. Christian is put into the corner, where he slaps the taste out of Swagger's mouth. Swagger whips him off the ropes, Christian counters with a leg lariat. Christian leaps off the corner with a cross body block, cover, one count. Swagger whips Cage off the ropes and takes him down with a pair of shoulder blocks, followed by a Gorilla Press Slam OVER the top turnbuckle and ringpost to the floor! Swagger throws Cage around, throws him back in the ring, throws him around the ring some more, applies a reverse waistlock. Cage tries to get to his feet, Swagger slams him down again, cover, two count. Cage gets to his feet again, another waistlock takedown.

Cage gets to his feet, finally is able to elbow out, tries to whip Swagger into the corner, Swagger reverses, charges, Cage tries to side step it and grapevine the leg through the ropes, but Swagger stops him and stomps Cage down to the mat. Swagger slams him to the mat again, cover, two count. Swagger picks up Cage in a Bear Hug, fully applied in the middle of the ring. Cage tries to escape a few times, Swagger keeps him beat down. Cage is finally able to get to his feet, finds a power base to lay in some forearm shots to break it, Swagger quickly blocks them. Cage tries to whip Swagger into the ropes, Swagger comes back with some old-school Greco-Roman moves and pulls Cage down into another pin attempt.

Swagger with a reverse waistlock rest hold, Cage rallies to his feet, Swagger cuts him off with clubs to the back, whips Cage into the corner, charges, Christian steps through the ropes and kicks Swagger in the head. Cage tries for a charge, Swagger sidesteps him and Christian eats the corner. Swagger charges and uses the corner to try to splash Cage, but Cage gets the knees, up, both men down for a rest. Cage gets to his feet, whips Swagger into a corner, Swagger reverses and connects with an elbow. Cage leaps up on the turnbuckle and tries for a Tornado DDT, but Swagger throws him off, cover, two count. Swagger quickly picks up Cage and slams him to the mat again, cover, two count.

Swagger tries for the Gutwrench Powerbomb, Cage blocks it by holding onto a leg. Swagger tries a few more times, then decides to pick Cage up and put him on the top rope. Cage fights him off and is finally able to pull off that Tornado DDT int he corner, rolls Swagger over, cover, 1... 2... kickout! Swagger pops up to his feet, catches Cage with a belly-to-belly suplex. Swagger picks up Cage on his shoulders, but Cage rolls through with an armdrag, Swagger falls to the outside. Cage tries to follow up, Swagger catches him with a punch to the midsection, then tries to hit a belly-to-back suplex off the apron to the floor. Cage holds onto the ropes, elbows out, then flips Swagger back into the ring. Cage goes to the top turnbuckle, Swagger runs over and headbutts him in the midsection, climbs up and backdrops Cage into the ring. Swagger follows up with a splash in the corner, covers and hooks the leg, one... two... kickout!

Both men holding their guts. Swagger grabs Cage's head, talks some smack, Cage jacks his jaw, tries for the Killswitch, but Swagger throws him into the ropes, catches him on his shoulders, then throws him head-first into the ringpost! But Cage holds on, rolls through and tries for a pin, two count for Cage! Swagger hits the Oklahoma Stampeede on Cage, cover, two count! Swagger and Cage split off to opposite corners trying to pull off the turnbuckle padding, referee interrupts Swagger. Swagger turns around and charges Christian, Christian sidesteps Swagger and he knocks himself out on the exposed turnbuckle. Christian hits the Killswitch for the pin and the win!

WINNER and NEW ECW CHAMPION, Christian Cage! Backstage Tommy Dreamer and Fit Finlay congratulate Cage on his win. He looks over and sees somebody, and breaks off to walk over to him... it's Edge. Edge says, "I guess now that you have your championship you think you're better than me, is that it? Don't get used to it, because in a few hours it will be all different." Christian shoots back, "What's the deal, man, what happened to you? You used to be fun but now you're this raging lunatic." "JOHN CENA!" shouts Edge, "I used to be a lot of fun, John Cena changed all that, he's the one. He's the one who turned me into this bitter, raving lunatic you see before you. You want to see me be fun. You'll see it when I become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion once again, and get John Cena out of my life forever!"

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat

Steamboat claims the middle of the squared circle as the bell rings, and Jericho immediately steps through the ropes. Jericho decides to lock up, Steamboat with a reverse waistlock into a takedown, Jericho crawls for the ropes to break it. Jericho then gets in Steamboat's face and shoves him, Steamboat shoves back, Jericho whips Steamboat off the ropes, Steamboat slides under his legs. Jericho tries for a baseball slide, Steamboat slides back into the ring then hits a baseball slide of his own on Jericho n the outside. Back in the ring Steamboat with a pair of armdrags that make it look like Jericho hangs in the air FOREVER! Fans start up another "You still have it! *clap-clap clap-clap-clap*" chant.

Steamboat lets Jericho get to his feet, then drags him back down again. Jericho back on his feet and hits Steamboat with a pair of forearms, a shoulder block off the ropes, then goes for a second, Steamboat drops and then catches Jericho with another armdrag into a wristlock and into an armbar (ARMBAR!) as Jericho gets to his feet. Jericho with a few forearm shots, Steamboat retaliates with a chop and a shoulder block. Jericho tries to throw Steamboat over the top, Steamboat hangs on and pulls himself back into the ring, but Jericho clotheslines him out. As Steamboat tries to get back itno the ring Jericho bounces off the turnbuckle for the missile dropkick into Steamboat's face. Jericho pulls Steamboat back into the ring, belly-to-back suplex, then punches Steamboat in the back of the head and talks smack. "What are you going to do, Steamboat? Give it up! Give it up Steamboat!"

Jericho with a snap mare takeover into a reverse chinlock, and the crowd starts to sound a little down. Steamboat gets to his feet, grabs the back of Jericho's head and lays in a few punches. Jericho punches back, bounces off the ropes and eats another armdrag from Steamboat. Jericho bounces back up to his feet and levels Steamboat with a shoulder block, and then applies a side headlock on the mat. Steamboat resorts to grabbing hands full of hair a few times, Jericho doesn't budge and they work their way back to their feet. Steamboat with a few shots to the ribs, tries to shoot Jericho off, Jericho holds onto his side headlock. Steamboat with a belly-to-back suplex, Jericho still holds onto the headlock. "Give it up, Steamboat!" shouts Jericho. "You're finished! Ask him, ref! Ask him, c'mon ref!"

Jericho back to his knees, then his feet. Fans start a pathetic "Steam-Boat! Steam-Boat!" chant. Steamboat with a few forearm shots, Jericho counters with a headbutt, whips Steamboat into the corner, tries to catch him with the bulldog out of the corner, but Steamboat uses the momentum to shove Jericho face-first into the opposite corner. Jericho tries to climb to the top turnbuckle, Steamboat lays in some punches and kicks, climbs up and tries for a belly-to-back suplex off the top turnbuckle. Jericho elbows him to break it off, but Steamboat fights him back... they go all the way up... Steamboat snaps off the belly-to-back superplex! Steamboat takes his time trying to make a weak cover and only gets a two count as Jericho rolls his shoulder up.

They get to their feet and start trading punches, Steamboat whips Jericho off the ropes, hits a pair of chops, Jericho goes down, Steamboat covers, two count. Jericho crawls off to a corner, Steamboat charges, Jericho ducks him and tries for a Codebreaker, Steamboat counters it with a simple scoop slam, cover, two count. Steamboat tries to whip Jericho off the ropes, Jericho counters with an Enziguri, covers, 1... 2... Steamboat kicks out. Jericho gets to his feet and takes Steamboat out with a running bulldog. Jericho lays up on the ropes, then tries for the Lionsault, but Steamboat catches Jericho on his shoulders and tries for the Electric Chair, but Jericho with a Victory Roll and then tries for the Walls of Jericho. Steamboat gets to his back and reverses it, and then slaps on the Figure Four Leglock! Fans start to get a little more excited, Jericho rolls over a few times and gets to the ropes, referee forces a break.

Both men end up on the outside apron. Jericho with a wild swing, Steamboat ducks it and backdrops Jericho back into the ring. Steamboat starts to climb up the top turnbuckle from the outside, Jericho charges to cut him off, Steamboat drops off and Jericho's head meets the steel ringpost. Steamboat goes all the way up and hits the cross body block, cover 1... 2... KICKOUT! Steamboat pulls Jericho up, Jericho tries to whip Steamboat into the corner, Steamboat catches himself, leaps to the top turnbuckle, goes for the cross body block again and Jericho meets him with the Codebreaker, cover 1... 2... kickout! Jericho gets up and argues with the referee, then tries to scoop Steamboat for a slam. Steamboat counters with an inside cradle, hooks both legs, gets a two count. Jericho quickly pops up and grabs Steamboat's legs, flips him over, locks in the Walls of Jericho and Steamboat taps out immediately!

WINNER: Chris Jericho. Well I wasn't expecting that, but in hindsight that is the RIGHT way to do it. And, sadly, I can't say that this match was better than what we got on Raw two weeks ago. Three times was just once too much. Jericho quickly leaves the ring, allowing Steamboat to play off the beating, and then greet the fans one more time. Afterwords Steamboat walks over to the ropes and applauds Jerry Lawler, who is applauding Steamboat.

Backstage Santino Marella is walking a hole in the rug backstage, Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendez come in and ask Santino what he's doing here, he talks on the phone and pretend he's talking to his "sister" Santina. Phoenix asks Marella why he keeps doing this. Marella continues to play the role, accuses Phoenix of being jealous and upset that she was beaten by a better diva. Marella tries to fake her out and tells her that if she goes out tonight and kisses the Great Khali, she'll get a shot against Santina for the Miss WrestleMania sash. Phoenix says she ain't going for it, she ain't kissing Khali, and for that matter she's not going to kiss Santino anymore, either! GLAMARELLA IS OVER! As Phoenix & Mendez walk off, Santino shouts out, "Well, when we are in tha bed... I FAKE! I FAKE! I FAKE EVERY ONE!"

Kane vs. "Mr. Money in the Bank" CM Punk

Punk starts out with high kicks to the head, Kane blocks them. Kane backs Punk into a corner, charges, Punk ducks and escapes, kick to the head, then backs off at the ref's demand. Kane backs Punk into the corner again, this time nails Punk in the jaw several times. Kane drags Punk out, whips him back into the corner, charges, Punk gets both feet up to block it, grabs the arm and goes for an lawbreaker over the ropes using his legs, then leaps to the top turnbuckle and uses both knees to hit Kane's shoulder. Kane throws Punk to the ground after taking a few punches, Punk throws Kane outside, tries to dive on top, Kane catches him in a chokeslam, Punk uses his feet to get back up on the apron to break the chokeslam, then hits a cross body block on Kane.

Punk gets back in the ring, stomps on Kane's hands as he slides back in, then goes for an armbar/wristlock combo. Punk then fires off a few kicks to the sides, tries to whip Kane into the corner, Kane reverses it and Punk slides shoulder-first into the bottom of the ringpost. Kane follows up with a baseball slide that sends Punk's head into the ringpost and he falls out of the ring. Kane throws Punk into the apron, then back into the ring, covers, two count as Punk barely kicks out. Kane wraps his legs around Punk's body for a body scissor, then grabs the hair and headbutts Punk a few times. Kane calls for the ref to make a submission call. Punk fights it off by using elbows on Kane's joings and elbows, tries to charge at Kane with a flying knee, Kane ducks it and clotheslines Punk, covers, two count.

Kane starts wearing down Punk, whipping him into the corner, clothesline, then pulls Punk out, backbreaker over the knee, then bends Punk over backwards to punish him. Punk breaks out with some punches to the head, but Kane clotheslines him again. Kane whips Punk off the ropes, Punk counters with a kick to the face, but Kane simply picks him up and chokeslams him. Kane hurts his right hand during the slam. Punk gets to his feet and tries to kick Kane a few times, but he gets whipped into the corner. Kane charges, Punk puts a boot up to stop it, grabs the injured arm, again uses his legs to wrap around Kane's arm and use the ropes to pull on it. Punk whips Kane into the corner, charges, Punk eats a big boot to the face.

Kane moves to the top turnbuckle, Punk counters with a roundhouse kick and Kane falls onto the top turnbuckle. Punk rests a moment, tries for the GTS, but Kane elbows the head to break it. Kane cowers to the corner, Punk runs over and hits the high knee, running bulldog out of the corner, cover and a leg hook, only gets a two count. Both men crawl to their feet. Punk goes outside the ring, tries to slingshot in over the top rope, Kane with an old-fashioned uppercut that lays Punk out flat, Kane covers, Punk kicks out. Kane whips Punk off the ropes, tries for the side slam, Punk whirls out of it and takes Kane down with an arm breaker into the crossbar. Kane winces in pain, then gets to his feet and hits a side slam, Kane covers, Punk kicks out.

Kane calls for the chokeslam, punk gets to his feet, turns around and nails a pair of roundhouse kicks to the head, another pair right to the midsection and face, a pair of roundhouse back fists then tries to finish it off with a running Enziguri, but Kane snatches Punk by the neck, lifts him up, chokeslam, 1... 2... Stick a fork in 'em, Punk's roast!

WINNER: Kane. We replay the last moments of the match... ouch!

"I QUIT" MATCH: Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy

We play the highlights of the last few months of the growing feud between the Hardy brothers. A TLC Match at WrestleMania wasn't enough, a Stretcher Match on SmackDown wasn't enough, we now have to have a final submission. It all comes down to this match, and possibly one brother never to return again. Jeff shows up without the face paint. GOOD!

Matt runs in for the shoot, Jeff sidesteps him, throws Matt into the corner and stomps a mudhole in him, headbutt into a second corner, punch punch punch, Matt escapes, Jeff punches him down again, double legdrop into the midsection, uppercut, Matt escapes to the outside, Jeff follows with a dropkick through the ropes then slingshots over the top for the splash. Jeff pulls Matt up, whips him into the ring barrier. Jeff runs to the other side of the ring, charges, springboards off the ringsteps and hits a side leg lariat into Matt's throat!

Fans start a "Let's Go Maa-aat!" chant as the action gets back into the ring, throws Matt into the corner, charges and grabs the rope to hit Matt in the face with a mule kick. Hardy bounces off the ropes, hits a trio of leg drops, drags Matt's body to the middle of the ring, goes to the middle turnbuckle and hits another double legdrop. Referee checks on Matt to see if he's ready to submit, Matt refuses. Jeff pulls Matt up and clubs him in the back of the head a few times, then leaps on his back with a sleeper/choke hold. Matt finally breaks it by dropping to his ass and hitting Jeff with a Jaw Jacker. Matt headbutts Jeff into the corner, Jeff tries to leap onto the top turnbuckle, Matt shoves him off and Jeff lands face-first into the ringside barrier. Ref goes to check on Jeff, Jeff refuses to quit.

Matt gets out of the ring and kicks Jeff in the leg, then throws Jeff back into the ring. Matt grabs the legs, pulls them to each side of the ringpost then punches Jeff in the head. Fans start a "WE WANT TA-BLES!" chant as Matt wrenches Jeff's knee around the ringpost several times, then crosses the left knee over the right leg and wraps it around the pole more. Jeff refuses to submit. Matt gets back into the ring, pulls Jeff to his feet, clips the back of the knees, slaps on a Figure Four Leglock. Jeff refuses to submit twice, but then Jeff flips it over on Matt, and Matt refuses to submit. Matt manages to break it, grabs Jeff in a modified half-Boston crab, he screams for Jeff to submit. Jeff says, "Forget it! NOOO!"

Matt breaks the hold, stomps on Jeff's head and calls him a brat several times. Matt sets Jeff backwards on top of the turnbuckles, then hangs him in the Tree of Woe, rolls out of the ring, grabs the chin and pulls the head and neck backwards. Referee asks Jeff if he wants to submit, Jeff refuses, Mat throws a hissy fit. Matt gets back in the ring, sets Jeff back up, club to the back, tries for a belly-to-back suplex off the turnbuckles, Jeff elbows him out. Jeff sets up and executes the Whisper 'o the Wind that sends both men down to the mat. They get to their feet and start trading punches, Jeff gets the upper-hand, goes to kick Matt in the midsection, Matt catches it, Jeff turns around and hits a Enziguri. Jeff grabs the legs, flips Matt over and slaps on a Texas Cloverleaf! Matt slaps the mat several times, but refuses to submit. Matt crawls to the ropes to break it.

Jeff boots Matt in the midsection, tries for the Twist of Fate, Matt shoves him off, Jeff bounces off the ropes and catches Matt with a kick to the midsection, and this time pulls off the Twist of Fate. Jeff goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits the Swanton Bomb on Matt. Referee checks on Matt again... "Ugh.... ugh.... ahhh.... no!" Jeff kicks Matt in the head, goes back to the top turnbuckle, hits a SECOND Swanton Bomb. Jeff rolls out of the ring as Matt refuses to say "I quit". Jeff pulls a table out from underneath the ring, slides it into the ring and sets it upright. Matt rolls out of the ring, Jeff follows him out, Matt punches him in the midsection, tries for a Twist of Fate on the floor, Jeff counters it with his own. Jim Ross calls it, "a human splat!"

Jeff rolls Matt back into the ring, lays him out on the table, punches him in the head. Jeff rolls out of the ring again, back under the ring, pulls out some rope and a roll of duct tape. Jeff wraps the duct tape around Matt's feet! Matt takes a punch to the solarplexus, then watches helplessly as Jeff binds his wrists with the duct tape. Jeff then grabs the rope and ties one end around the table, then across Matt's body, across the other end, back across Matt's body... hes strapped down to the table! Jeff pulls taunt on the ropes and Matt screams in pain. Matt shakes his head no, Jeff goes out of the ring. Referee asks Matt if he wants to submit, Matt refuses. Jeff pulls out a ladder, puts it in the ring, talks smack to Matt and then sets it up. Matt begs and pleads with Jeff to stop, Jeff looks down on him without mercy. "Jeff! Jeff! Please! Jeff! Jeff!" screams Matt as Jeff climbs the ladder, much to the fans delight.

"Jeff! Jeff! I'm sorry about everything!" bleats out Matt. "You were right! I love you! Jeff! I love you! Jeff, listen to me! I love you! We're brothers! Brother is the strongest bond you can have in the world. Don't listen to them, I told you they will get you in trouble! Jeff! I love you! We can be the Hardy Boys again, we can do it all again! Mom is watching down from heaven, she wouldn't like this. Daddy wouldn't want you to do this. I'm sorry! Please! Please!...

"I QUIT! I QUIT!" shouts Matt Hardy. WINNER: Jeff Hardy.

The fans start to boo as Jeff starts to step down from the ladder. But then Jeff handsprings off the top of the ladder and hits a vicious legdrop on a bound Matt Hardy. Jeff stands up and raises his hands, and limps off. Referee unbounds an unconscious Matt.

Backstage Todd Grisham tries to interview Randy Orton for his last comments. Orton says he has nothing else to say to Triple H or Shane McMahon, but wants to address Batista. He says that they still have issues but the difference now is that Orton is his own man and has his own stable, while Batista is still being Triple H's lackey and how for Batista it is still all about "The Game".

The Backlash Kiss Cam w/ "The Punjabi Playboy" Great Khali & Runjen Singh

Runjen Singh starts to speak on the mic as they walk into the ring. "The Great Khali says that it is springtime, and love is in the air. And while he can choose any WWE Diva, the Great Khali has chosen Miss WrestleMania, Santina Marella. So Santina, please come out here so that the Punjabi Playboy can show you what it means to be a real, natural woman! Come on, Santina, the Punjabi Playboy is waiting!"

Santina finally comes out and gets in the ring. "There's nothing more that I'd like to do than to kiss the Great Khali, but there is a reason that I cannot. I am afraid that I have been hiding myself." Sings says, "The Great Khali says that you explain yourself!" Santina says, "The truth is that I ... am in love with another man! I am so in love with this man that I cannot bring myself to kiss anybody else." Singh say, "The Great Khali demands to know who this man is." After much hemming and hawing, Santina finally blurts out, "I'm in love with J.R.! Ever since WrestleMania he has been calling me and calling me is Little Slobberknocker!" Ross is taking a TON of ribbing at ringside! Ross swears that he's married.

Runjen Singh then says, "The Great Khali says that he didn't know! He completely understands your predicament, and says that you do not have to kiss him... provided that you show your love for J.R. and kiss him right now!" Marella says that she's about to faint, Michael Cole cracks off with a great line, "Go ahead and kiss her, Barbecue Man!" Jim Ross shoots daggers at Cole and surly says, "Barbecue Man? Who told you to say that!"

Beth Phoenix comes out with a mic, Rosa Mendez in-tow. "That's it! That's enough! I have heard enough of this! I am sick and tired of this. Santina, Santino, whatever, Miss WrestleMania, I'm challenging you to your Miss WrestleMania crown right now! You never should have been in the battle royal. Referee, ring the bell right now!" Sing interrupts, "The Great Khali says how dare you, Beth Phoenix! How dare you interrupt this tender moment of love!"

"Love? Khali, this is SANTINO! This is a MAN! I don't understand what you're not understanding! Is your great cranium full of rocks? Are all the women in Punjab that damn ugly that you find THIS attractive? Either that... or you are literally the BIGGEST IDIOT walking the face of this Earth today!"

Khali stares back down into Phoenix's face and says something, then conks her on the head! Phoenix falls to her knees, staggers back up, then falls to her back. Santina shouts "RING THE BELL RING THE BELL!" and shoves Rosa Mendez out of the way, covers Phoenix and pins her. Marella does his/her little dance then gets on the turnbuckles to pose. Marella steps down, turns around and is staring Khali right in his big ugly mug, and this time is trapped in the corner! Marella tries to escape, Khali grabs the back of the shirt, it rips as Marella falls through the ropes, exposing his/her chest, covers him/her self and runs off. Khali's got her bra in his hand, sniffs it and then launches a shit-eating grin and shows it off to the fans. He exists the ring and wraps the bra around his head.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP - Six Man Tag Match: WWE Champion Triple H, WWE Executive Vice-President Shane McMahon & Dave Batista vs. Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, Jr.

Just to make sure you understand the rules here - if Triple H, Shane McMahon or Dave Batista get pinned or disqualified from this match, Randy Orton automatically becomes the WWE Champion.

Before the match begins, Triple H jumps Randy Orton, they brawl to the back, but only Triple H returns. Referee decides to start the match as three-on-two. Batista and Rhodes start the match, Batista throws Rhodes into the corner, delivers a few shoulder blocks, whips him to the opposite corner, delivers a clothesline. Rhodes gets snap mared out of the corner and then gets a boot into the face. Shane McMahon tags in, climbs the turnbuckles and hits an elbow drop on Rhodes as Batista holds him over the knee. McMahon lays in a few more elbow drops, armbar wringer, tags in Triple H. Trips drills Rhodes between the eyes, headbutts him in the corner, more punches into the face, gets stomped down until the referee physically steps in to break it up.

Triple H with a hard whip on Rhodes to the opposite corner, then does it again before kicking Rhodes in the face. Another whip off the ropes, Triple H ducks, Rhodes kicks him in the face and tags out to DiBiase. DiBiase eats a clothesline from Triple H, then McMahon tags in. McMahon hits a clothesline off the ropes as Triple H holds DiBiase up. McMahon lays in forearm shots to DiBiase's back, then tags in Batista. Batista whips DiBiase off the ropes, ducks down, eats a boot to the face, Cody Rhodes tags in, and it's Rhodes that eats a boot to the face, followed up by a DEEEELAAAYYYEEED vertical suplex, almost a brainbuster as Rhodes is dropped on the top of his head! Rhodes staggers to his feet and manages to rake Batista's eyes, tags in DiBiase, DiBiase plants Batista in the corner and stomps him down until the referee breaks, which allows Rhodes to choke Batista, then DiBiase with more kicks. Rhodes tags in and lays in more punches and kicks, referee breaks it up, DiBiase with more cheap shots behind the back. DiBiase tags back in, both whip Batista off the ropes, Batista clotheslines them both, clotheslines Rhodes out of the ring, and it's THUMBS DOWN for DiBiase! Batista sets up for the Batista Bomb, DiBiase escapes and rolls out of the ring.

Batista follows him out as DiBiase tries to walk up the ramp. Batista clubs him in the back and sends him back to the ring. Randy Orton runs down from backstage and attacks Batista from behind, runs him into the ringpost. DiBiase rolls Batista back in the ring, Orton gets on the apron and demands to be tagged in. Orton jumps in and starts pounding on Batista, puts him in the enemy's corner, then tags in Rhodes. Rhodes stomps a mudhole in Batista, ref pulls him off, Orton and DiBiase double-team Batista with punches. Rhodes kicks Batista's body out of the ring then tries to follow, again causing the ref to step in and allowing Orton and DiBiase to double team Batista. When the ref goes to cut them off, Rhodes is allowed to make cheap shots. Rhodes finally tags Orton back in, he drags Batista into the ring between the ropes, hangs his feet and hits the DDT. Orton covers... 1... 2... Batista kicks out.

Orton grabs Batista's legs, stomp in the chest a few times, , walks over him and tags in DiBiase DiBiase rolls Batista over and kicks him in the head a few times. Batista gets to his feet, reels off punches on everybody, but DiBiase with a drop toe hold halts his progress, followed up with a side headlock. Batista struggles to get to his feet, picks up DiBiase and snaps off a side suplex. Both men crawl for hot tags, Orton gets in first and cuts off Batista with a kick to the ribs. Orton with another stomp in the chest, grabs Batista's leg and drags him back to the middle of the ring, then stares down on him before dropping a few knees to the head.

Orton pulls Batista to his feet, Batista fights him back, scrambles for a tag to Shane McMahon, Orton tags in DiBiase. McMahon goes to down on DiBiase, goes to the top turnbuckle and hits the flying elbow drop! Orton reaches through the ropes and drags McMahon outside, throws him into the ringsteps. As McMahon struggles to get in the ring, DiBiase pulls him up and slingshot suplex into the ring, cover, two count. DiBiase tags in McMahon, stomps on him and toys with him right in front of Triple H and Batista. DiBiase tags in again, stomps on McMahon, baseball slide dropkick sends McMahon to the outside. DiBiase slams his head into the apron, rolls McMahon back in, cover, two count. DiBiase stomps on McMahon some more, tags in Orton. Orton with a front facelock, then a standing dropkick on McMahon, cover, two count.

DiBiase tags back in, drags McMahon to the corner, hits a double foot stomp into the chest off the turnbuckles, cover and a two count. DiBiase applies a reverse chinlock, McMahon rallies the crowd, gets to his feet, elbows out, tries to punch DiBiase, DiBiase rolls him through and then kicks him in the face. DiBiase drags McMahon to the corner, tags in Rhodes, and holds McMahon down as Rhodes stomps on him. Rhodes follows up with a knee drop, cover, one count. Rhodes with a front face lock. Rhodes applies a few knees to the head, McMahon punches a few times to try to escape, Rhodes hangs on, pulls Shane to his feet, McMahon picks up Rhodes and tries to charge for a tag, Rhodes nails McMahon in the head and just barely cuts him off from a tag. McMahon backdrops Rhodes, rushes for a tag, but DiBiase cuts him off, drags him back to the middle of the ring, then applies the Dream Street DDT/sleeper combo, but McMahon reverses it with a DDT of his own, both men go down!

Everybody is stomping on the ring to rally for hot tags. Orton gets in... Triple H gets in, they start throwing rights, Triple H with the upper-hand, puts Orton in the corner and launches with an unrelenting series of attacks, whips Orton to the opposite corner, reversal, Triple H counters with a clothesline. Triple H whips Orton into the ropes, reversal, Triple counters with the high knee drop. DiBiase and Rhodes run-in, both get sent over the top rope. Orton tries to hit Triple H with the boot, Triple H counters with a spinebuster, cover, 1-2-DiBiase runs in and breaks it up. Triple H again throws them out, sets up Orton for the Pedigree, Rhodes run in to break it up, gets sent out over the top as Shane McMahon hits him with a clothesline.

McMahon and Rhodes pair off outside, Rhodes clocks McMahon with a chair. Batista drops DiBiase, runs over to Rhodes, gets a chair in the throat. Triple H and Orton are both getting up, Orton tries for the RKO, Triple H blocks it, sets up for the Pedigree, but then sees Batista about to use the chair on Rhodes on the outside. Triple H snatches the chair from him and warns him that he'll get DQ'ed. Referee steps in to take the chair away... and turns his back on Orton as he hits the RKO on Triple H! Orton covers... 1... 2... KICKOUT! Wait, the bell rings, but the referee waives it out, says it was only a two count! Referee goes over to the ropes to tell the timekeeper to restart the match... Triple H is getting to his feet, but Orton is already on his, and runs over and punts Triple H in the head!

WINNER and NEW WWE CHAMPION, RANDY ORTON! Orton, DiBiase & Rhodes snatch the belt and quickly high-tail it out of the arena. Batista gets in the ring to check on Triple H, he's out cold. Shane McMahon gets in the ring, we play the highlights, and we see an EMT crew in the ring to put Triple H on a backboard and a neck brace, and carted out of the arena

The fans are cruelly chanting. "Nah nah naah-nah, nah na naah-nah, hey hey hey, GOOD BYE!"

WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - Last Man Standing Match: champion John Cena vs. Edge

John Cena gets possibly the biggest pop I've EVER heard for him! We get the bell after the long introductions... both men approach each other slowly, milking the crowd for the cheers, looking around the arena. They trade some talk, then we get a collar-and-elbow tie-up, Edge backs Cena into the corner, goes for a forearm shot, Cena ducks it, whips Edge out into the ropes, tries for a bulldog, Edge shoves him off and then bails out of the ring. Cena gets out to chase him, Edge tries to hit the Spear on Cena as he comes into the ring, Cena side-steps it and then tries to set up the Attitude Adjuster if Edge comes back on the rebound. Edge halts his progress and they stare each other down.

Another lock-up, Edge whips Cena into the ropes, Cena ducks a clothesline, hits a Fisherman's Suplex, but Edge counters back with a suplex, and Cena is holding his injured head. Edge waits for Cena to get to his feet and takes him back down with a clothesline, then another, and a third as Cena staggers to his feet. Edge mounts Cena for some ground 'n pound, referee pulls him off and then starts a ten count. Cena back up at six, Edge whips him off the ropes, Cena ducks a clothesline but can't duck a leg lariat. Cena goes back down, referee starts another count. Edge sets up for the Spear as the fans are solidly chanting for Cena.

Cena back on his feet at eight, Edge decides to run over and punch Cena down some more, Cena trades back, Edge whips Cena off the ropes and flapjacks him, followed by a sleeper. Cena grabs the ropes, but there's nothing the referee can do as Edge over-powers him and drags him back to the middle of the ring. Cena start to fade as Edge leans way over to cut off the blood flow. Cena tries to pus the arms off, Edge leaps on Cena's back to lock it in. Cena drives backwards into the buckle to break the hold, but Edge comes right back and slaps the sleeper on again, again jumps on Cena's back, wrapping his legs around the body. Cena falls backwards and Edge keeps the sleeper hold locked in. Cena's face is PALE! Edge continues to apply it for another minute before he releases it, referee backs him off and starts another count. Fans start a "LETS GO CE-NA! *clap-clap clap-clap-clap*" chant... five... six... seven... eight...

Cena pops up, Edge charges, Cena ducks a clothesline, bounces off the ropes, hits a pair of shoulder blocks followed by the side slam. Cena appears drained, but puts the hands in the face of Edge to go for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, Edge grabs both wrists, pulls Cena over, whips him on his face, grabs the legs and applies the Sharpshooter! Edge drags Cena to the corner and grabs the ropes for extra leverage, sits out on Cena's back completely as he screams in pain. Edge breaks it after a minute, Cena rolls over to his back and the ref starts another count. Cena starts to pull himself up at the five counts, using the ropes, is out on the apron, and Edge knocks him off the apron with a huge charge, Cena lands head-first into the announcer's table. The referee starts another standing count. Five... six... Cena rolls over... seven... Edge decides to get out of the ring and attack Cena again, lays in some punches, Cena falls over on the announcer's table. Edge pulls out the steel ringsteps, throws Cena into them and then props him up on it. Edge steps way back, charges, levels his shoulders, and Cena side-steps the spear, Edge eats the steps!

Referee gets out and starts the first ten count on Edge... five... six... Cena picks up Edge and tries to whip him into another set of steps, but Edge reverses it and Cena goes head-first into the steps. Another count from the ref... five... six... Edge picks up Cena and tries to whip him back into the first set of steps, but Cena reverses it and Edge is down again. Referee with another count, Cena decides to interrupt it at six and throws Edge back in the ring, then throws then tries to throws the BOTTOM section of the ringsteps into the ring. He fails the first two times, but makes it work the third. As Cena gets back into the ring his face meets the bottom of Edge's boot. Edge picks up the steps and rams them into Cena's head, which sends Cena into the corner. Edge sets the steps up in the corner, over Cena's body, then steps back and charges across the ring, delivering a dropkick to the steps.

Cena gets back up at seven, Edge tries for the Spear again, Cena ducks down and backdrops Edge over the top rope. Referee gets out and starts the count on Edge. Cena picks up the ringsteps and throws them out of the ring onto Edge! Referee starts another count, Edge starts stirring at six... seven... eight... Edge is on his feet, Cena gets out of the ring, throws Edge back in. Edge staggers to his feet and they trade big heavy rights, and end up knocking each other down! Both back on their feet at eight, Cena goes for the Attitude Adjuster, Edge wiggles out, Cena goes for it again, Edge wiggles out again, Cena snap mares Edge over his shoulders, goes for the AA a third time, Edge AGAIN wiggles out and then pulls him down.

Edge foolishly gets into Cena's face, mocks the Five Knuckle Shuffle, bounces off the ropes and runs right into a drop toe hold from Cena, which leads into the STF! Edge taps out, but referee can't count it, not that Cena appears to be interested in breaking it! Finally Edge stops tapping, Cena breaks and the referee starts another count. Edge back up at eight, and walks right into the Attitude Adjuster again. Edge grabs the ropes, Cena immediately drops him, tries to bounce off the ropes to counter, but Edge out-counters him with the Spear! Both men are down... one... two... three... four... five... Edge is getting to his feet... six.... seven... Edge is on his feet, goes to the top turnbuckle from the outside. Cena back on his feet, cuts off Edge, climbs up the turnbuckle as well... turns around... picks up Edge on his shoulders... no.... THE ATTITUDE ADJUSTER OFF THE MIDDLE TURNBUCKLE!

Unbelievable strength, but both men are again down! One... two... three... Cena is on his knees... four... five... Cena back on his feet... seven.... eight... Cena is in the corner laying up... nine.... Edge barely makes it back up, but falls back down! Cena steps outside, gets to the top turnbuckle, goes for the legdrop but Cena again counters with a Spear! We replay it and Cena wasn't even trying for the legdrop, sad. Both men have ahold of the ropes at five... six... seven... Edge is on his feet... eight... Cena pops back up, then falls through the ropes to the outside. Edge goes outside and clears off the announcer's table. Cena is placed on the table, Edge climbs up, pulls Cena to his feet, and Cena picks up Edge for the Attitude Adjuster, and throws Edge over into a row of planted fans behind the announcer's table! One... two... three ... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... EDGE GETS TO HIS FEET! But he lays over the top of the ring barrier.

Edge decides he's going to high-tail it into the crowd, Cena in pursuit! They chase up into the concourse area, out to the vendor sections, then back into the arena, running down stairs, referee Charles Robinson following behind! Cena grabs Edge by the back of the hair and takes a bulldog off the stairs into a pile of equipment boxes backstage! Edge is out cold it appears, Cena walks off, referee starts a count... four... five... Edge is stirring... six... seven... Edge flips over to his belly as the fans chant "CE-NA! CE-NA! CE-NA!" ... eight... nine... Edge finds a prop and blasts Cena in the head with it! Edge runs off again, Cena pursues, they're up on the main stage. Cena goes for a big right, Edge ducks it and counters with a DDT on the steel graters at the top of the stage!

HOLY FUCK! They made this an awesome match! And it's not over yet!

One... two... three... four... Edge on his knees... five... six... seven... Cena stirring... eight... Cena is on his knees... nine... Cena is on his feet, Edge runs backstage, comes out with a chair and blasts Cena in the back with it! Cena flops on his face! Edge is going for the Conchairto and connects! Cena falls backwards into the set, referee starts another count... one... two... three four... five... six... seven... Cena starts to stir... eight.... Cena drags his body up... Cena charges with a Spear, Cena ducks, picks Edge up on his shoulders, he's going for the Attitude Adjuster one more time...

BIG SHOW! Big Show runs in, pulls Edge off, then he picks up Cena, looks around... CENA IS THROWN INTO A SPOTLIGHT! The spotlight explodes! The spotlight is on fire!! Fans heavily boo Big Show as he walks off the stage, crew immediately run over to put the fire off, then referee Charles Robinson starts the count... one... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... ten.

WINNER and NEW WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, EDGE! (I can hear Big D marking out all the way from here, I'm sure!) We see the replays and the pyro blows the entire back of the spotlight out! Tons of officials and refs out to check on Cena. They put him on a back brace. Christian and Kofi Kingston are out as well. They put a neck brace on Cena, then gingerly pull him out as Edge celebrates on the stage! Edge refuses to leave, staring on as Cena's being prepped to move.

Wow, that's it kids! Thanks for sticking with us! The PPV start off slow, but thankfully the last two matches really did pick it up!
