The live recap starts now! Hit Refresh or F5 for the latest results. You can also join us in the AngryMarks chatroom to talk to other people about SmackDown, The DRUNKCAST which starts at 9pm EST, or whatever else is on your mind.

SmackDown begins with no intro video because the Intercontinental Champion comes out to address the fans. Tonight we'll see Rey Mysterio team up with Jeff Hardy as they take on Edge and Chris Jericho.

* Rey Mysterio promo

Rey says it's good to be back in his home state of California and it'll feel better when he takes care of Chris Jericho at Extreme Rules in a No Holds Barred match. He says he can hit Jericho with anything he wants - including the 619, 213, 323, 310, and even an 818! He claims he going to shut Jericho up once and for all. This elicits the conspiracy theorist to come out and confront Mysterio. Jericho questions, "Off the hook? You think a No Holds Barred match is gonna be off the hook? Is it gonna be off the hook when I take a chair and bash itover your head and give you permanent brain damage? Is it gonna be off the hook when I take that Intercontinental Championship and embed it in your face and disfigure it forever? You have no idea what you are getting yourself into little man. Your false bravado will reverberate and recompense for you forever and ever..." Rey yells "SHUT UP!" Rey tells Jericho that his word means nothing because he still hit the 619, kept his IC title, and even Mickie Rourke knocked him out at WrestleMania. They then show Rourke actually sitting in the crowd. Rey finishes saying, "Just face it Chris, your word is worthless." Chris turns his attention to Rourke and says he's too much of a professional to go over to him and punch him in the face because he's worthless. He goes back to Mysterio and says honest men don't wear masks, only criminals cower behind masks to hide their faces and secrets. Jericho promises he's going to tear the mask off (ohh great!) and expose him, he even gives his word. He tells Mysterio that his mask will be his downfall. Rey ducks a sucker-punch and he fights Jericho off, threatening to hit the 619 but Jericho rolls away. Next we see The Great Khali with Ranjin Singh heading on their way to the ring for a tag match. Breaktime.

* R-Truth & The Great Khali (w/ Ranjin Singh) vs. Mike Knox & Dolph Ziggler

R-Truth and Khali come down the ramp together and as Truth raps his song he hands the mic off to Khali who shouts "What's up?!" in the chorus. Truth: "Los Angeles, California..." Khali: "What's up?" (What's up!) LOL, 5 F'n stars! We go back in time 3 weeks ago when Dolph Ziggler issued an open challenge to the locker room which Great Khali answered. Okay, back to action as Truth and Dolph start out the match trading holds. Truth jumps over Dolph and splits and rolls up Dolph for a 2-count. He hiptosses and locks in an armbar on Ziggler, who wants no part of Khali as he tags in so Mike Knox is in instead. Khali and Knox square off and Khali hits a big boot. Truth jumps down with a sledge after getting tagged in. He kicks Knox but gets clotheslined and pinned for a 1-count. Dolph tags in and drops elbows, poses, then hits a jumping elbow drop for 2. Headlock applied and Truth fights up and both men collide in mid-air HARD with crossbody blocks. Both men tag out and Khali cleans Knox's clock. He catches a flying Ziggler but Knox stops him, ducks a clothesline but Khali hits him with a leg lariat. Ziggler scampers up the ramp leaving Mike Knox alone to fall prey to the Punjabi Plunge. WINNERS: R-Truth & Great Khali.  Singh, Khali and Truth celebrate in the ring afterwards and Khali actually has rhythm keeping up with Truth as they dance to Khali's theme music. Melina is walking to the ring backstage, but first a commercial break.

* {WWE Women's Champion} Melina vs. Alicia Fox (w/ Michelle McCool)

The WWE "Smack of the Night" is Melina smacking Alicia Fox last week. The Women's Champ comes out first with her beautiful entrance. Alicia Fox is out next with McCool by her side and her theme song sounds like a remixed instrumental to Nelly's "Hot in Herre." Fox takes down Melina then slaps her but Melina takes care of her for that. Fox tried to hit Melina and she bends backwards and kicks Fox while in a crab position! Flexible, SEXY. Fox takes a powder outside and Melina follows but gets distracted by McCool and Fox kicks her through the ropes. Back in the ring, Fox pins Melina for a 1-count. She whips her intot he corner then executes a backbreaker for 2. Melina floats over a tilt-a-whirl and kicks Fox in the midsection for 2. McCool distracts Melina on the second turnbuckle for a little while and Fox attacks. Melina ducks a clothesline and hits her reverse-DDT-splitting-legdrop finisher for the win. WINNER: Melina. Post-match McCool grabs the title from the ref before he can give it to Melina, and she practically shoves it to her then leaves.

Josh Matthews interviews John Morrison about his thoughts facing Umaga tonight. "Let me drop some knowledge on you Josh. Umaga is a moron. Umaga is like the tree who is rooted to the ground. Where I get to move around and see all the stuff all over the place. Do you know what that means Josh? It means I'm going to frustrate and out-think Umaga. Wait for him to make a mistake and do my best to capatialize." Shelton Benjamin shows up to remind Morrison that they have unfinished business, and that he needs to leave the good-ship-lollipop and come back to the real world. Morrison retorts with, "In the real world Shelton, I beat you twice. In the real world, I beat the other half of the World's Most Forgotten Tag Team twice. In the real world, you haven't done anything around here since 2004 and you're not gonna start now." Shelton cuts in saying, "I'm a former United States Champion and the Gold Standard!" John Morrison ends the convo saying, "Well I've got better things to do than talk golden hair dye No. 5 psychology with you, FORMER champ!" Commercial break. After the break, we see a video package promoting the Ladder Match for the World title at Extreme Rules.

* Jeff Hardy promo

Jeff Hardy gets in the ring and the fans are cheering their heads off as he climbs each turnbuckle. Jeff gets a mic to address his title opportunity at the next PPV. "Some people think that I am crazy, for choosing such a dangerous and career-threatening match. But quite honestly, ladder matches are my comfort zone. Years ago, Edge and I were a part of the first-ever tag team ladder match. And it's strange after that match, our careers changed. And now ten years later, our feud will end in a ladder match. And I will prove that becoming champion last year was no fluke; it was meant to be. And I will walk into Extreme Rules, climb the ladder, and become World Heavyweight Champion." Short and sweet. Jeff leaves up the ramp slapping hands with fans as Umaga comes out for his match with the strap around his neck before a commercial break.

* Umaga vs. John Morrison

The referee tells Umaga to put the strap away before the bell rings. Umaga shoves Morrison early on, Morrison tries with strikes but they don't affect Umaga. He slides under Umaga's legs but Umaga runs him down. Morrison lowers the ropes sending the Samoan Bulldozer flying to the floor, then bounces off the corner to attack him outside. Back in the ring Morrison tries for a roll-up, moves out the way of a butt drop and kicks him in the face for a 1-count. Umaga stops a charging Morrison by tossing him up and CATCHING HIM IN MID-AIR FOR A SAMOAN DROP and Morrison rolls out the ring! Commercial.

Umaga has a hold on Morrison when we come back from break. He fights out with knees and forearm shots. Umaga hangs him on the ropes then shoots a sidekick to knock him off the apron to the floor. He pulls him back up but gets slung on the ropes himself, then clotheslines John inside-out. This time Umaga applies a nerve hold to Morrison's left shoulder while holding his left arm back. After about two minutes the fans finally start a light "Let's go Morrison" chant and it's enough for him to make his comeback with a nice pele kick, but it's no use as Umaga catches him and swings him with a sidewalk slam for 2. Headbutt and nerve hold once again. Back up and Morrison swings all around Umaga's body with a BEAUTIFUL tilt-a-whirl DDT for 2. John clotheslines Umaga, hits a flipping dropkick, and a dropkick to the knee but Morrison is back down again thanks to a throat thrust. He dodges a charging Umaga who hits his head on the ringpost and Morrison hits the springboard savate kick (which J.R. calls 'The Chuck Kick') and Umaga rolls outside. Morrison follows and gets whipped with the strap and the ref calls for the bell. WINNER by DQ: John Morrison.

Umaga throws him into the security wall and whips him some more then ties him upside-down in a corner. Kicks to a hung up Morrison and CM Punk comes out! He hits Umaga in the head twice with the briefcase, puts it down and connects with the running knee in the corner then bulldogs Umaga onto the briefcase. Umaga rolls out and they exchange words. Todd Grisham gets in the ring with a microphone to talk to CM Punk about his strategy for the Samoan Strip Match. CM Punk: "Do I look like the kind of guy that strategizes for anything Todd? I've never been in a strap match, let alone a Samoan Strap Match so I wouldn't even know how to begin for something like that. The thing about me is I always find a way. They said I wouldn't be World Champion, I did it. They said I wouldn't win Money-in-the-Bank, I did it... twice! Now the same people say there is no way CM Punk can drag 350 pounds around the ring and touch all four corners in succession. It's a dangerous situation anyway you look at it Todd. He's bigger than me, that's a fact. He's stronger than me, it's obvious. There's one thing that he isn't. He's not CM Punk, and that makes me just as dangerous." Commercial.

* Cryme Tyme vs. Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas

"Yo yo yo yo, Shad Gaspard and JTG - it's Cryme Tyme!" The reason this match is taking place is because of what happened on last night's Superstars on WGN where Cryme Tyme interrupted the World's Greatest Tag Team and cost them the match by distracting them. JTG hits a leapfrog legdrop and shoves Haas in the corner to make a tag and JTG whips Shad into Haas. Haas gets knees up later and tags out. Shelton has a waistlock on Shad and gets shoved in the corner. Gorilla press and Shelton lands on his feet but gets knocks down. Double-team by Cryme Tyme on a downed Shelton. Ref is distracted by Shad and WGTT double-team on JTG slinging his neck on the ropes right before a commercial break.

Annnnd we're back and Haas slams down JTG for only a 1-count. Shelton tags in kicking and punching JTG like a madman. The ref has to scream at Shelton to ease up. Elbow drop for 2. Shelton puts a neck hold on JTG to sell the double-team earlier then tags in Haas who wants some and drops numerous knee on his neck. Haas screams at JTG shouting that he cost them their match and chokes him on the apron, then tags in Benjamin. JTG starts to punch back and as he tries to tag, Shelton swings around and German suplexes him bridging for 2. Haas back in, he misses a kneedrop and JTG takes him down then both men tag out. Shad is a on fire after the hot tag as he cleans house on both WGTT. Shad powerslams Benjamin and hits his "Money, money, yeah yeah" elbow drop. Cover interrupted by Haas and JTG uses Shad's back as a step-stool to attack Haas. Shelton counters Shad's finisher and hits Paydirt for the win. WINNERS: World's Greatest Tag Team.

Next we segue to the feud between Layla and Eve Torres (which Cryme Tyme instigated) that started with the dance-off four weeks ago, an arm wrestling match three weeks ago, and the makeup station battle two weeks ago. These two Divas will do battle in the ring next after the break. "Did You Know" the WWE broadcasts in 28 languages in more than 145 nations worldwide? I bet they all say that the product is weak these days, in as many languages they can translate into.

* Eve Torres vs. Layla

It's the battle of the Diva Search winners! Jim Ross and Todd Grisham tell about these Divas' pasts as NBA dancers, which I would rather see more than watch these two women "wrestle." And wrestle they do not as they brawl in and out the ring. Layla goes for the cover but no pinfall. Snapmare and a surfboard stretch; Eve tries to reverse but Layla dropkicks her in the back for 2. Both women run at each other and go face-first into the mat. Eve clotheslines Layla, again, and a dropkick. Sunset flip for 2. Layla tries for a crossbody and Eve rolls through for the win. WINNER: Eve Torres. Thankfully it's over. Eve dodges Layla as she runs at her and goes flying through the ropes to the outside. Backstage, Edge meets up with Chris Jericho and they argue with each other about who takes the lead and who follows who. Edge tells Jericho to listen to him becuase he is the World Heavyweight Champion. Jericho says he listens to nobody and Edge should just do the match himself because he's done. "How does that sound? That's what I say." Umm, okay... is he going to stick by it? We'll find out after this next commercial break.

When we come back, the World Champion makes his entrance as the announcers recap last week's match with Edge and Jeff Hardy. Edge takes a mic and talks about Jeff wasting his opportunity to pick the stipulation for Extreme Rules. He says he owns the ladder match and has more success in ladder matches. He explains the difference between them is Jeff makes the highlight reel and drops jaws with his stunts in a ladder match, but Edge WINS ladder matches. The previous ladder matches these two men had together have been tag team matches, but this is the first-ever one-on-one ladder match between Edge and Hardy, this time for the heavyweight title. He also says another difference between them is Jeff a loser who wastes opportunites, while Edge is a winner and the Ultimate Opportunist. He finishes by saying Jeff is the perennial challenger, and he himself will still be the World Heavyweight Champion after Extreme Rules. GREAT PROMO! Jericho's music plays but he doesn't show up (it seems he meant what he said). So instead Rey Mysterio's music plays and he does show up. WHOA, a fan just attacked Rey! IT'S JERICHO! He tricked Rey and is now assaulting him, throwing him into the steel barricade and slamming him on the floor. Now Jericho's trying to unmask Mysterio and Hardy comes running down to chase him off! Rey is out of it and the medics come down to check on him. Breaktime.
After the break we replay what happened to Rey and then Justin Roberts tells us that Jeff agreed to go on in a handicap match.

* 2-on-1 Handicap Match: {World Heavyweight Champion} Edge & Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy

Jericho starts the match for his side and Jeff avoids a dropkick and hits a legdrop for 2. Inverted suplex and Jeff goes up top. Instead of a Swanton he hits a double sledge on an incoming Edge. He takes out Jericho and flies outside onto Edge. As Jeff gets back up on the apron Jericho hits a springboard dropkick to kock him back down, and Edge takes the opportunity to stomp on him. Jericho slams him on the steps and back in the ring covers for 2, then executes a back suplex for 2. Edge tags in, kicks Jeff and raises his hands in victory as the fans boo him. He attacks Hardy on the ropes and hits a running splash to his back for 2. "Let's go Hardy!" shout the fans to their hero. Jeff gets away but Edge grabs him by the hair and brings him down. Jericho hits a springboard splash for a 2-count after he's tagged in. Hardy misses a dropkick but puts his knees up to counter a Lionsault. Jericho is writhing in pain and crawls to make a tag. Jeff is ready so he connects with a wrap-around clothesline. Spinning mule kick, clotheslines and an atomic drop sends Edge to the corner. Jeff hits the corner low dropkick, covers but only gets a 2-count. Hardy tries for a Twist of Fate, Edge shoves him almost into Jericho, Edge DOES run into Jericho and Jeff rolls up Edge for 2. Jericho attacks Jeff, they try to double-team Hardy and the Whisper in the Wind connects on both men! Twist of Fate to Jericho and Edge SPEARS Hardy right as he turns around! WINNERS: Edge & Jericho.

Edge goes out the ring to get a ladder, gets back in and hits Hardy in the face with it. He opens it up on the ground, drags Jeff Hardy inside then SLAMS it shut with him in it. Edge grabs his belt and raises his arms as he put his foot on the ladder with Hardy still in it. We recap the ending and the post-match ladder attack. Edge raises his arms and belt in victory as SmackDown goes off the air. That's all for the recap, good night!
