WWE NXT Results for Jan. 6, 2021. It's the first NXT of 2021, and tonight the black and gold brand goes evil! It's New Year's Evil and the superstars are up to no good. Finn Bálor defends the NXT Championship against Kyle O'Reilly. Rhea Ripley and Raquel González battle in a Last Woman Standing Match as well. Also, Dexter Lumis will be the host... NXT is back in the Capitol Wrestling Center! Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

Dexter Lumis, the host of tonight, is seen staring at the CWC in the dark, then he goes up some stairs to a production area and plays with the lights. All he really needed to do was flip the switch, and everything is ready to go! Lumis is even dressed for the occasion. Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett welcome us to the show (as well as Beth Phoenix via Zoom) and they are ready to get everything in motion.

The first round begins next week. Undisputed Era's Roderick Strong and Adam Cole learn that they face Breezango in the first round. Cole reminds us that he's the longest NXT Champion in history, and Strong is a former NXT North American Champion. They recognize that Breezango can get the job done when necessary, but they will continue a new prophecy which will include Kyle O'Reilly winning the NXT Title tonight.  McKenzie Mitchell mentions that that title match will be commercial-free. The Grizzled Young Veterans are seen in the crowd behind the fence looking on, surely they will be in the tournament as well.

* NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Gran Metalik vs. Santos Escobar {C}

Lince Dorado comes down with Metalik, while Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza join Escobar to the ring. Escobar wears his luchador mask on his way down, but takes it off before once he stands in the center of the ring. Rhea Ripley is doing push-ups and lifting dumbbells backstage, while Raquel González is stretching to get ready for their match. Xia Li is back, next.

We get words from Merceedes Martinez saying it feels good to be back, and doesn't care about the awards she won. The only title that she does care about is the NXT Women's Title.

The mysterious woman is here in the Capitol Wrestling Center as she sits in her chair, to be accompanied by Xia Li and Boa before they head to the ring. Xia Li sports a new look, attitude, aggression, and just a whole new transformation.

We learn that Timothy Thatcher has been deemed unable to compete in tonight's scheduled Fight Pit, and Mr. William Regal confirms that when Thatcher heals then he will compete in the FIght Pit against Tommaso Ciampa at a later date. Bronson Reed gets interviewed right after and he says when he stayed home he has built-up frustration and aggression. He also says he's got his money on Rhea Ripley in her match, which is next!

The referee begins his count, 3, 4, 5, 6, Ripley is back up, González takes apart the announce table, and gives her a back body drop onto the announce table with a bad landing! Raquel throws everything she can onto Rhea to prevent her from getting up. The referee is counting up to 6 until Rhea makes her way out and up at 9. González can't believe what she's seeing, so we'll go to commercials.

We go to picture-in-picture, González escapes her cuffs, suplexes her, a spinning powerslam, clothesline, and clotheslines her out the ring. González takes the top half of the steel steps, Ripley kicks it, González falls on top of it, and Ripley hits a DDT on the steps! The ref counts both women, and González is up first.

González picks up the steps again, charges the steps into Rhea's arm, then hits a running big boot on the stage. Ripley falls down the stairs of the stage, the fight goes backstage, Ripley fights back, and charges her through a glass door! Ausin Theory calls him a real-life superhero, Indi Hartwell unveils a painting of The Way as superheroes, and Gargano is super excited. Gargano announces that he and Austin Theory are entering the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic!
